This property has gone greatly downhill, and our last visit there was thoroughly aggravating. Promises and guarantees were made that were not kept. Management, and Best Western corporate, have not been at all helpful in responding to our concerns.

We had issues with our room being ice cold for three nights with no controls for the HVAC. The unit was dripping water in the carpet in our room.
On the second day we came back to our room being left open after the cleaning staff serviced our room. The doors don’t latch well.
Not impressed, staff did not offer assistance when we inquired. Room was not cleaned well when we arrived or during our stay.
Parking is limited and unless you part your car and walk you won’t have a space.

Filthy room. Urine on the toilet seat, junk on the floor, stained sheets and pillows, stained faucet. We had to request new sheets, make the bed ourselves, and wait for about 30 minutes for someone to come clean the dirty, disgusting toilet. We were promised when we checked out the manager would give us a call since this was unacceptable, especially at the rate we paid, but of course no call. I will never stay here again and wouldn't recommend anyone else do so either. Thank goodness we were only there one night.

Every thing was good except the heater. Fan was blowing when we went in the room. Got that off. Never got the heater to come on. Even after going up to the front desk.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! ***** The Hotel in it's entirety was FILTHY! Upon entering the hotel there was noticeable dirt and debris all over the floors, stairways and carpets and it stayed that way during our entire stay. Not ONE time during our 2 day stay were the floors ever vacuumed. When we arrived in our room there were NO TOWELS, the sink and sink tray in the bathroom were dirty and the sliding glass door had about 50 hand prints all over the glass. On Saturday when we came back from our day out our room was still not cleaned properly. There was still trash on the counters and the waste baskets were not all emptied. The sliding glass door still had not been cleaned and wiped down. I opened the microwave and there was FOOD debris left in there from a previous customer that was NEVER cleaned out. Our Floors in the room were not vacuumed and the mirrors above the sink were not cleaned in the bedroom or the bathroom area. When I called to complain about the dirtiness of our room on Sunday as we were checking out (be it known this was the 3rd time during our stay and I kept getting blown off) the Manager Patty had told me that there was a note on my account from either the staff or housekeeping that we had the Do Not Disturb sign up on door so our room was unable to be properly cleaned. TOTAL LIE! The housekeeping staff or the employees were trying to cover themselves from incompetently doing their jobs!

The hotel is very nice, too bad it lacks the pool… there is only one outdoor hot tub.
The gym is enough. Parking is below the hotel and is free, spacious and tasteful rooms.
Small but behind the furniture read cobwebs, overall my rating of the hotel is more than good.
The only downside, however, that I would like to point out to you is that the area and Santa Cruz in general are really bad; full of bums and crazy people walking the streets. The restaurants near the hotel are almost small ditches with the "restaurant" sign that then sell Pizza Take Away or Burrito.
The amusement park on the Boardwalk closes at 8p but even that area is not recommended in the evening.
Walking around Santa Cruz in the evening after sunset is not suitable for a woman or a couple, you feel constantly observed and the anguish does not make you feel comfortable.
This has nothing to do with the hotel doing everything it can to maintain a clean and serene atmosphere.
If you want to sleep one night I think deserves your attention otherwise consider other destinations, outside Santa Cruz. If you go there take away all the coins and objects visible from the dashboard and in general from the car.

This is a pretty good hotel. Check-in was quick and simple. We got a room with two queen beds and a pullout, which wasn't necessarily comfortable. The breakfast also wasn't anything to sneeze at, but what we loved was pretty great. We might come back.

Really nice hotel, and I was only there for a very short amount of time, basically only slept in it and left early morning. However, staff were clearly nice and professional, everything was clean, but the parking garage is tiny and you get sent to park on the street if there's no spots. The room was nice and very very spacious, a little mini living room and all. The pillows and beds were VERY comfy, the only strange thing I'd say is they gave us a room that was 5 feet from the breakfast table, so in the morning it was a very long term disturbance and I would've been irritated if not for me leaving so early anyhow. All in all, it was a short but good stay and no complaints. Definitely a little expensive for the room placement though.

Recently stayed at this hotel. The hotel's location is close to the beach and offers indoor parking. I was told when I checked in that I would be upgraded to a quiet room away from the street on the 3rd floor. The room was located facing a noisy street. In addition the AC is very loud. While the bed is comfortable, the pillows are hard. So if sleep is important, make sure you get a room away from the street and bring your own pillow. The Hotel doesn't feel like a BW Plus as it is old, dated, and amenities are minimal. For the price I paid, I won't return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Santa Cruz. Our room was spacious and accommodated my husband and children and I very well. We traveled with extended family and loved all the tables and chairs downstairs near the lobby — we gathered there one night to eat dinner together and play games. We always enjoy the free breakfast Best Western offers as well. It was also a convenient location — easy walking distance to the Boardwalk and to restaurants like Pizza My Heart. My only complaint is the price point is higher than other Best Westerns we stay at, but I'm sure that is just because of the coastal location. We would stay there again in the future.

My family and I enjoyed our stay there on our trip to Santa Cruz! It wasamazing, andrelaxing. Will be back soon. Thank you for your great service and well kept rooms!

This place is a joke. We booked a two room suite and they refuse to give us more than one parking pass. If we had simply booked two rooms we would have received a second parking pass. The manager of the hotel refused to work with us or exercise any reason. She insisted that she would only issue one pass. She tried to say that there is only enough room for each room to have one pass but it’s obvious she’s blowing smoke. There are way more rooms than there are parking spaces. If they actually booked all of their rooms more than half of their guests would have to park on the side streets hoping that the roaming crackheads don’t break into their vehicles. This hotel is poorly managed, poorly planned on space. We booked this hotel so that we could be close to the beach and leave our vehicles at the hotel and not pay for outside parking. Don’t waste your time here, the place is in dire need of an update, smells musty, saw a cockroach, and is in a rough part of town. I’m looking for somewhere else to book right now.

Excellent. Rooms are spacious. Tea / Coffee available 24 hrs. Reception was good. Parking sufficient. Nearby restaurants are available. Just cross the road. Will like to visit again.

Rooms — very clean and aesthetic. Service — very friendly. Free breakfast. Convenience — it's close to the boardwalk. Room for improvement — There's no pool. The jaccuzi was closed when I went.

Rooms are nice, spacious and beds are comfortable. Breakfast was above average. We ran into issues with our room not being ready and needing to leave for a wedding. They did their best to accommodate us by turning a conference room into a dressing room and setting up mirrors for the women to do hair and make up. Not ideal, but I appreciated their creativity.

Nope Nope nope. The area around the hotel seemed pretty seedy, parking was only available in the downstairs garage where people were passed out in their cars and the whole place smelled like weed. The bed was terrible and it felt like the early 90s in the room. That being said the staff was super friendly and offered us Ann upgrade to a different type of room but by that point we were over it. We ended up staying at the Dream inn by the pier, it was awesome.

Very nice sized 2 bed rooms. Breakfast was good, parking… Not so much. Small compact spaces and not a whole lot of parking. While I stayed there it seemed many kids stayed there too and it could get quite loud at times due to this so if you're working graveyard shifts not the best place to sleep. Overall a good stay though. Clean rooms, normal shower (not a bath/shower).

Staff was very friendly, to me that's a big plus and will always bring me back to an establishment. There is nothing I hate more than going somewhere and they are rude or I can't understand them. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was eggs sausage bacon yogurt and toppings waffles bagels and breads and hardboiled eggs two thumbs up Boardwalk is only a 6 minute bike ride away. I would recommend this hotel and ill stay again. I only gave it 4 stars because the parking situation is very limited there is more rooms than parking spots and they give you a paper to put on your dash to park, if you get lucky enough to get a spot and we wished it had a pool other than that we had a great stay. Thank you to all the staff.

Easy last-minute booking process, clean, quiet, comfortable, free parking, convenient location. Only negative was a couple of lights and electrical outlets in bathroom/vanity area that didn't work. Since I was just there for one night, it wasn't a big deal. Would stay here again.

Good location, lousy parking thou. The prices are reasonable. The front desk agents are attentive and helpful. Rooms are clean beds are comfy. Rooms have the usual amenities. Rooms are so quiet can't even hear people next door. I'd stay here again. I've referred friends and family here.

Loved my suite! It had a fireplace & and a small balcony. The room was immaculate. The towels were soft. I appreciated the housekeeping crew that cleaned my room left a handwritten welcome note. Wifi was good too. Breakfast was just right. I had Scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast with cream cheese & sausages. They had a lot of options. The Best Western Plus All Suites Inn is super close to downtown Santa Cruz. Location is just right. Plenty of parking available. This will be our place any time we visit. Thank you!

Older renovated hotel in the heart of Santa Cruz. Inside, the place has a fresh, modern feel. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is fresh with options for everyone. If you like walking — both the downtown and the boardwalk are within range. Parking is convenient. I would stay again.

Nice hotel — clean and convenient to downtown Santa Cruz. Although on a busy street was surprisingly quiet (and we were there on New Year's Eve! ). Staff friendly and helpful on directions for walking where we needed to go. Rooms were nice and bed was very comfortable! Would stay there again.

Had a wonderful check in experience and the room was very nice. Comfortable bed and clean. My only issue is that the walls are very thin so you can hear everything your neighbors are doing, and I don't know what was above us, but it sounded like elephants doing karate all night long. If you are someone like me who like the white noise of the fan on the cooling/heating unit, you will be out of luck here. There is no option for the fan to stay on to help drown out the excess noise. If they could fix that this would be an outstanding property. If you can sleep through anything, then I highly recommend this property.

Conveniently located, comfortable hotel with full breakfast included. Property starting to show wear, need of paint and clean furniture in common areas. Layout of suite allows no privacy between guests in bedroom and front-room as sink and mirror are situated between these two areas. Property and room clean and breakfast area well managed.

Hotel is on a corner across from a gas station and 2 restaurants. Pretty close to quite a few food options. Room is nice and updated, has a couch, single seat couch, coffe table, TV, microwave, mini fridge (that isn't obnoxiously loud, can't tell it's on) the king size bed is comfortable with nightstands and lights on either side, lights do not have outlets built in for charging your phone so have to unplug the alarm clock. Bathroom is nice, shower is a curtain less design, kinda weird water does splash out. The closet has a full sized ironing board with iron. Parking is underneath the building, so no parking out in the open room, they also don't charge for parking which is nice.

Room was very clean and tidy along with windows facing a direction where the noise of the busy street in front of the hotel was not a problem at all. The bathroom was slightly odd but got used to it very quick and appreciated how easy it was to section out the bathroom so that two people could use it at the same time. The desk clerk was helpful and after our check-in he recommended a great sushi place to visit for a late lunch. Overall it was a very pleasant visit.

This hotel is amazing. We always stay here when we stay in Santa Cruz. The free breakfast is very good. They have a waffle machine, eggs, sausage or bacon, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice and more. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The beds are comfortable and the rooms very nice. My only complaint is parking. It is free parking in a garage but the spaces are narrow and there are a lot of cement pillars to maneuver around. Smaller cars are fine but anything of size is difficult.

Large room, 2 TV, but otherwise … would have to be cleaned urgently. It's all very dusty on the cupboards, the lamps and the carpet would have to be sucked again. The signs with "do not disturb" or "please make the room" are not heeded. Too bad, because the rooms are really great, there is an underground car park and the Wi-Fi is also good.

Recently stayed in double suite with friends of ours. They made the reservation, but we got there before them. Marissa at the front desk went the extra mile to get my wife and me checked into the room with out waiting around for our friends to get there. What a great way to start a long weekend. Thank you Marissa! Of course over the weekend we had more questions on where to eat, places to go, etc. Again, both Marissa and Eli at the front desk were just awesome. We will most definitely stay here again and we highly recommend this hotel. Btw, the location is pretty close to most everything too.

We liked our room (King Queen Suite), it was clean and fairly well maintained. Stuffy in the bathroom, but decent. Breakfast was good as far as free breakfasts go. Main complaint was parking. Many of the parking spaces are too small for a standard car so some guests take up more than one "Compact" spot, so there aren't enough spots for all guests. We had to park our SUV at the Chinese food restaurant lot on the opposite side of the street.

Had a great stay! Impressed with how large the double king suite was and with the large tub with jets! Breakfast was really good too. All around, was very pleased. I had an issue with my air conditioner rattling and it was too late for maintenance to come by, but I was given a fan and got a discount at check out, so the situation was handled correctly. Would definitely stay there again. Oh ya, and super close to the BoardWalk.

This hotel has very mixed reviews. We would only recommend the room that we stayed in, It is an enormous suite, looking over the back. It has three hand basins, two TVs, and is the size of a typical Santa Cruz apartment (well, almost). The quirks: the hand basins don't have stoppers. We bought a universal one (a large flat rubber circle) that worked fine — and the desk told us all the rooms had the same basins. Crazy in central coastal CA. Also through there are three hand basins there was no provision near them for hanging towels! Weird. Otherwise, a large comfortable room. We always found a parking space in the garage, but the spaces are narrow so you may have problems with a large SUV. The only other problem is the price — but this is Santa Cruz. We would go back but only to room 325.

Rooms are tidy, nice and spacious. Staff is friendly and helpful. The entry to the hotel is hard to find as most entrances have a card only access. Looking for the entrance with a bunch of bags was annoying as you can imagine. The thing I definitely disliked the most is the positioning of the rooms. While it's pretty to have all rooms facing an open area, hosting the breakfast there is a terribly idea as I could hear everything in my room. If you want to sleep in this is definitely not the hotel for you.

The hotel has everything you need while staying in Santa Cruz. Not too far from the Boardwalk or Downtown Santa Cruz. Also convenient, was having a Chevron station across the street. Our room was nice and clean, the bed was firm (we prefer softer). Noise was our biggest issue, you can hear people talking in the hallways, using the ice machine, and people walking above our room and from next door. Minor issues. Breakfast was the typical eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, etc. Internet speed was good for streaming mid-quality (480p) video. Will be back.

Great experience, walking distance to the beach. Rooms were nice nd clean, hotel is well kept. Breakfast buffet was great, plenty of options, including drinks. U get what you want for the price u pay, definitely worth the stay.

Guy at counter very friendly. Room is big with a separate living area. 3 sinks, jetted tub (standard, I think), lots of mirrors, 2 tv's, decent breakfast. Parking sucks. Not pickup truck friendly. Parking is single floor underground. More rooms than parking spaces. Feel trapped because we don't want to leave hotel to go anywhere for fear of losing our parking space. On the plus side we've been getting plenty of exercise from walking everywhere.

Rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed — there even was a microwave. Comes with parking and breakfast. I've heard that parking can be limited if you show up late but I didn't have any problems. AC kept us cool during the warm nights. I have no complaints at all.

This was a great deal. Very close to the boardwalk, comfortable bed and it was excellent to have the extra room with TV, couch and coffee table to relax on while the toddler played on the bed. I actually felt like I was able to have a little alone time while in the same room. A definite value for what you get. Nice friendly staff and check-in. One one guy working in the evening, so I had to go downstairs to get the extra blanket I requested. But, that was totally no big deal.

Excellent hotel! This was our 3rd year at this hotel. We normally book a 2 room suite which accommodates our large family perfectly. We were impressed with the new memory foam mattress on the pull-out couch. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was good. Staff was friendly, and rooms were clean. We enjoy the easy access to restaurants, shopping, and the Boardwalk.

We had a pleasant stay overall, but the parking lot was packed and we were lucky to squeeze into a spot. On one occasion I had to climb into my car through the passenger side because the car next to me was parked so close to me I couldn't get on. I had about 4" between me and the car next to me on the driver's side. I also saw someone back into a parked car because of how tight the parking lot is. The only other thing was that the juice machine for the Continental breakfast was out of order from the day we arrived to the day we left. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean which in my opinion is most important thing.

I came to the hotel with a big group on a charter bus. The check in was soo quick the hotel was great and the breakfast full not continental was fabulous. I've been to many hotels with groups and when we get there they act like they never heard of us this hotel was on there "A" game.

My family stayed here from May 31-June 1, 2016. We stayed in the king mini suite with the tub. I will say the pictures posted for this hotel do not do it justice. The hotel is amazing and family friendly. The rooms are clean and very spacious. The front desk is so helpful and friendly and is open 24 hours. They also offer free breakfast like eggs, bacon, sausage etc. I looked at every hotel in santa cruz and this one was the best for person with a budget. In my suite there was a jacuzzi bathtub which was amazing! And a double sided fire place. We were close enough to the boardwalk to walk there but far enough to not hear the loud noise and screams lol There's also a gas station across the street, and several amazing resturants. If you are looking for a family get away then I recommend this place, and room 230!

From the very beginning this was the best experience we've had with any hotel. Clara answered the phone and was so pleasant to talk to and so caring. It is was our honey moon trip and she went so above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. She was thoughtful enough to upgrade our room to the honey moon suite. Not only that but when we arrived she and yadira had set up our room with balloons, and other decorations. She had went out of her way to look up and print out reviews and directions to restaurants in the area for us to have for dinner. Then to top it off she left a hand written card from her and the best western staff to us congratulating us and wish us a happy trip and marriage. It was truly an amazing experience. It took our stay from just a night in a hotel In between driving, to an unforgettable experience and a relaxing honeymoon night. Maria was also exceptional. She greeted us at the front desk and checked us in, and was extremely helpful In answering our questions and making our stay perfect! We will be staying at best westerns from here on out!

The location is next to a few restaurants which is nice and next to a chevron which is pretty convenient for late night snacks. The rooms are cozy and nice. Bathrooms are wonderful. And I really enjoyed the breakfast options they had which were vegetarian friendly :)

Room was changed at check in, staff was courteous and very professional. Room was clean and updated, linens were clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was just as advertised. Overall good experience.

The hotel has a strange layout, but it is very spacious. It's tricky getting in to the hotel for the first time, parking is in a badly lit parking garage, and access to the first floor is through a horrible smelling stairwell where plenty of homeless surely have slept. Once in the lobby, it feels like a normal mid range hotel and they do provide board games in the lobby for entertainment, which was a nice change. The rooms like I said earlier are spacious, the shower water pressure is poor, but the room itself was clean, although outdated. The breakfast is the worst part. They tell you it's a big buffet style breakfast but the only thing we found remotely edible was the stale bagel and orange juice.

Service was excellent. Location appears to be a converted open air motel. Great breakfast. Nor really what I'd call a suite. Just large normal rooms.

Location was good, parking can be difficult though. Service was excellent. Rooms are clean and nice, however outlet placement in my room was really poor.

Pretty simple hotel. We had a two bedroom "suite" but to us seemed like any other hotel room. It was clean, the furniture was a bit old though. The service was good. We didn't get a chance to try their continental breakfast though.

I stayed there with my husband for an entire week, and we absolutely loved it! ashley, at the front desk, is an absolute breath of fresh air. She is the definition of superior customer service… extremely helpful, and very very pleasant. The rooms are gorgeous and huge! very comforttable and homey for those on extended trips. The housekeepers are also very friendly and accomodating… rooms are always spotless and looking crisp. Its a very quiet but busy atmosphere… ppl coming and going, but politely and quiet. I can't express enough how much I enjoyed the hotel. Had to relocate for the holiday but will be returning to santa cruz in a few days, and in the future when I visit, I will not stay anywhere else I loved it that much! if I coiuld rate it more than five stars I would! ****definitly, without a doubt, hands down I reccomend this hotel!

I am unfortunately here 2 days they don't tell anyone about the construction that starts at 7 in the morning. And it going on for 3 more months. Don't come here. Also found a mouse trap in our closet.

The stay was great. Staff was friendly and helped very quickly when our fireplace wasn't starting. Breakfast was decent. Only issue would be, not enough outlets in the room. Very difficult to plug in the computer or phones in common use areas.

It was OK. Enjoyed the Holiday Inn Express down the street much more.

This hotel was not bad, but not good. The best part of this hotel was the location. It was a reasonable distance from the boardwalk. It can be considered walking distance and you'll save about 10+ dollars on parking. If you plan on being at the boardwalk all day and swimming and being exhausted then I don't recommend the walk back to the hotel. It just depends on how physically capable you are. My wife and I had no problem with the walk and we were at the boardwalk for 6 hours and walked back with our 4 kids at 11pm. The complimentary breakfast wasn't bad but all the food was a little bland. The Parking situation was terrible though. If you were out past 7pm you probably weren't going to find parking at the hotel. People were parking where there was signs clearly posted "no parking" and they were not towed. I'm assuming it was because the hotel could not provide adequate parking. This is one of the better looking hotels in the area and is pretty centralized to most attractions. The room was clean the beds were comfortable, but the pull out couch was very uncomfortable and noisy springs.

This place was nice. Be sure not to get stuck with a room that has a window that faces inside the hotel! They tried giving us one of those but it was stuffy and we traded for something on the 3rd floor. The hotel is really close to the boardwalk as well.

Worst hotel stay EVER. The staff at this location was a nightmare. I accidently locked myself out of the room and had to have them let me in. My husband came in later when I was sleeping to find out that his room key had been changed. He asked the front desk for a replacement key and they told him that his name was not on the room so they weren't going to give him a key. Then proceeded to tell him that I was mad at him when I came in earlier and that I changed the key on him. He had to ring the doorbell of our room several times at 1am to wake me up and then was upset that I purposely changed the key on him, which I did not and had no clue as to what he was talking about. This caused the security to come twice with "warnings". All of this could have been avoided had they just called me at the room and asked if it was ok to let him in. Then they charged me $50 and for what I have no clue. The 2 security warnings? This place is ridiculous. I would not recommend staying here.

Great hotel with staff that can not be matched! As a frequent visitor to Santa Cruz I have been to many hotels. Use to spend most of my time at the Holiday Inn Express however that location in Santa Cruz has dropped off and service is lacking so decided to stay at this Best Western. Newly remodeled rooms were offered with tons of spaces and a huge walk in shower. Was able to get all the local deals as well from the awesome staff. Special shout outs to Maryana for helping us …with dinner, Cindy for her warmth towards us, and Clara for all the easy around town info. When we needed to reach out to the General Manager Lacey she helped us promptly and helped us find great local winery deals. Notes — huge walkin showers, clean spotless new rooms, and staff that make you feel at home are all the reasons to pick this hotel over any others.

Came here last year on a your to UC Santa Cruz, came again this time around and found it to be mediocre. The AC was in another room, so it was hard to sleep comfortably with no air flow. Hallways were extremely hot. City has no real night life, everything closes around 5-6:30-ish. Only come here during the summer when the hours are extended.

The parking spots in the garage are extremely tight. The water alternated between cold and hot when taking a shower. Could easily hear running water from the next door rooms. Offered a nice breakfast.

It's OK, but feels tired. Was glad it was only one night stay as the next morning the car next to mine in the parking garage under the hotel had been broken into, so I was glad to be leaving : ( Generally wasn't a great hotel, but having seen the area it looked a lot better than most of the others.

This hotel calls itself All Suites but that is a misnomer. Not all of the rooms are suites. Our room just had a king size bed and a pull-out couch. The hotel appears to think that a pull-out couch means it's a suite. Then, the pull-out couch was so awful that if you sat down on it, it was difficult to get up because there were not enough slates in the frame to hold up the mattress. We had to take the mattress off the frame in order to sleep. The bed comes completely unmade regardless of whether you need to use it or not. If you stay more than one night and need an extra set of towels because more than 2 people were staying in the room, you need to go get the extra set again. On the bright side, one of the night staff was as accommodating as he could be, given what he had to work with.
