Great location, good value for a comfortable nights rest. We stayed two nights here as it was such a good location (despite the coast road being blocked by a landslip! ) The rooms are large with microwaves and refrigerators. The beds are very comfortable with a choice of pillows (hard, soft and lumpy! ) The only issue we had was that breakfast is served in a communal dining room which doesn't have enough tables and chairs for all the guests! On the second day we went later and lots of food had run out — it took some effort to find the staff to do a restock! Although the place is dated everything works and the staff are helpful and responsive if you do have problems!

Big room, obviously family owned and operated and obviously an older building too. The furniture looked like it was mostly just recently replaced or due for replacement. The only thing that was not too cool was the comforter: It was a white and yellow quilt, which was surprisingly warm. And also smelled just like Indian food that had been sweated out of someone's pores. Oh and our room had a had fireplace.

Nice room. Part Ocean view rooms are ok. The rooms that are on back of property have balcony that does not face the court yard.

We have been riding our bicycle at least five times down the Pacific Hwy. On the day I called I got a price. But when appearing at their desk the price has changed. The story is too long for a review. Anyhow, this shouldn't have happen…

To be entirely honest the only thing that makes this place worth the one star minimum is the staff member who checked me in. John was a delight. However, that was the only good thing. After getting into the room and pulling back the Sheetz, I noticed a stain through the bed cover. After pulling back the top cover I saw what was unmistakably blood and other bodily fluids on the mattress cover. We packed up and left immediately. In addition the smell of pot while walking up and the loud people downstairs made it untenable. 0 out of 10 would not recommend.

A strange place where there are almost only motels.
Point of view on the ocean nice but across the road.
A pretty classic Motel with a fairly large and rather well equipped room.
Quiet if you're on the back.
Very basic breakfast, that's the least we can say!
Convenient to visit Hearst Castel.

Room clean. Pillows rather hard. The faucet of the shower head rather hard and changed very drastico of hot water to cold. Included breakfast is only cereal, oatmeal, and bread. Ideal for an overnight stop.

Clean, equipped, quiet, spacious and very good value for money.

The rooms were huge with quality like Marriott. We got the room for a great price and were not expecting it to be so nice. It was very clean and had everything a room should have. The morning breakfast was also decent. And overall we had a good stay.

Good enough for visitors of Hearst Castle, watching Elephant Seals, or to picnic the scenic coast. Friendly front desk staff, allowed an early checkin. Large king room, no-smoking property. Nice mattress. Older furnishings could benefit from upgrades: towels, linens, TV, furniture are old. Minimal water pressure to conserve water makes washing hair difficult. Room was clean. Good enough to go enjoy the beautiful coast nearby.

Rolli rooms are none, otherwise motel like many others, $70 per night speak for themselves. No recommendation.

I thought the price was really fair in February the place was clean the clerk was friendly the hot tub was working good and ready to go they had a decent breakfast in the morning at 7 a. M. I would definitely go back we were going to stay at the state campground down the road but it would actually cost us more and we would have had to set up a tent and sleep on the ground.

Desk agent couldn't find reservation. I contacted booking company which confirmed my reservation and contacted property. Desk agent argued with booking company over their policies, then turned his problem into mine. I suggested that he quit arguing with booking company and with me and check me in since I did his job for him. Instead when booking agent called property a second time, the agent cancelled my reservation. I went to Silver Surf Motel where I was greeted warmly and checked in without drama. Avoid this Days Inn property. Their service is horrible, and the property can't be much better. Zero stars!

Decent inn with a friendly manager and a great location, just seven minutes south of Hearst Castle and two minutes north of the beach. The spreads are a bit old-fashioned and the rooms may seem older, but the inn is comfortably located along a strip of hotels and restaurants. There is a mini-mart nearby for snacks, and a small hot tub located next to the front office for free use. The attached Big Sur restaurant serves generous portions and tastes decent (of course, there are quite a few similarly priced choices nearby if you want to try something else). While there is free breakfast, don’t expect a large fancy spread — we had breads, yogurt, and cereal along with coffee, juice, and milk. This hotel’s biggest strength is its location for the price.

If you are doing the highway 1 Pacific coast drive, this place is best for the nights stop over. Serves good breakfast and dinner in the restaurant.

Very good value for money. Spacious room, nice breakfast. No complaints.

The room is really great, and the personnel is very nice. However from a 2-star hotel you would at least expect the bathroom to work properly, but no. You get a bathroom that doesn't flush. You call the reception to request help, or a room change, but no. All you get is a "sure, come to the front desk to get a plunger". Of course, after a 10-hour ride and right before going to sleep all I want is to do is go out in the middle of the cold night to get a plunger to come back and fix your toilet. What an "Exceptional stay" in a "room where everything works".

Good budget hotel with simple amenities. We had a ground floor room and the blinds let some light in from the parking lot and at times it was noisy, hence the four stars. We did get a good night's sleep though despite one of us being a light sleeper so it shouldn't put you off — maybe request and upstairs room?

Great value for money Then to be a Motel! Very Good and pure clean.

Located directly on Highway 1, this inn is an affordable alternative to the pricey hotels and inns found in Cambria. Unfortunately, the rooms look and feel a bit outdated. Although the rooms are indicated as non-smoking, the odor of cigarettes still lingers on the inside. The rooms are badly soundproofed; noises from the outside and other guests can be heard inside the room. In comparison to other similar inns, the breakfast selection was satisfactory (yoghurt, cereals, juice, oatmeal, bread). If I happen to be in San Simeon again, I will probably choose another place to stay.

Family vacation up the coast of California to San Francisco and did a stop at Hearst Castle. We decided to stay the night and had booked this room in advance. What a great little gem! Less than 10 min from the Castle and in a perfect spot — directly across the street is a place for beach access and what a beautiful spot it is! The hotel is quaint, very affordable, and the Big Sur restaurant next door gives hotel guests a 12% discount! (Food there was affordable, service was excellent, and portions were huge! ). The hotel staff was wonderful here. The room was large enough for this family of 4. We were so fortunate to get a 2nd floor room with an ocean view and a balcony with a couple of chairs… honestly, that was the best part with seeing the sunset! Comfy bed, refrigerator in room, clean shower, small outside sink area for getting ready, nice TV and very quiet at night. Get up early for the Continental breakfast (yogurt, breads, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee) and do yourself a favor and cross the street for the amazing ocean view and walk the beach before you go! Next time we pass through, we will stay again!

Room is outdated. It was clean. Manager on duty was polite. Beds are old and not in very good shape. Breakfast was nasty looking oatmeal coffee bread and muffins… No fruit and no juices. Hot tub was large and perfect temp.

Supposed to be non-smoking hotel but had lingering smoke odor. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was chaotic, juice machine was broken, but no alternative was offered. No eggs. Coffee was weak.

Place a half old, not very well maintained.

Reasonable pricing for the room you get. We got a single king bed room. The bed was firm, pillows double-stuffed, and had one quilted blanket with sheet. I think they room may have been being renovated. The housekeeping did not clean up well after the previous guest. There was hair on and in the sink, and hair and soap scum in the tub. We had a nice view of the ocean and we liked the walk-out balcony where we could have drinks while the sun went down. Breakfast was your typical cereal, toast, yogurt, OJ, and coffee. While the staff was pleasant and very helpful, we would not stay again due to the poor housekeeping and dated bedding.

Well Good price and room clean and Well maintained.

It is okay to spend a night of road. The Wi-Fi is very bad. Breakfast poor and the staff nothing to watch for to see if you run out of things. We spent almost 30 minutes watching to see if he could see someone to replenish the coffee and no one was at the reception. Not have elevator to go up to the second weight. If you're going with a lot of luggage you will take care of yourself.

It's not sound proof. You can clearly hear what your neighbors said.

Good, clean, but customer service not the best. Double our room, by giving another family/ couple the key to our room. Luckily I had placed the chain on the door otherwise stranger would have made themselves comfy in the room.

Good size rooms, breakfast was average. It fairly priced and good cable choice.

Dirty bed spreads noticed as soon as we checked in and we were told to wait for about 30 mins just to get the spreads changed, horrible service. Wish I had checked the rating before booking the room. Room smelled horrible and the window curtains look dirty too.

Please do not stay at this hotel. We arrived and found pubic hair, stains on the sheets, strange odor, dirty towels and the rest of the room was very dirty. The management refused to refund our money. We went across the street to the Sands by the Sea and luckily found accommodations there. After visiting the Hearst Castle two consecutive days, which was phenomenal by the way, we left for home. I fought with Bank of America for weeks back and forth with BofA and Days Inn. Finally, BofA credited my account. I feel Days Inn could have at least went into the room and saw our concerns but they were very unprofessional and the counter person had a baby crying in the back room. The manager never showed up to help. This was by far the worst experience with a motel/ Hotel we ever had.

BEDBUGS! They know about it. Run for your lives. Dont come near this helhole.

I stayed at this Days Inn about 2 weeks ago and I must say it was very nice. It has obviously been remodeled recently and the manager was great I think his name was Parker I will definitely be coming back. Good rate, clean room what more can you ask.

Paper. Thin. Walls. And not only the walls, but the ceiling, door, and window as well. Don't come here if you value your sleep. You can hear literally every footstep of the person above, if you're unfortunate enough to get a room on the ground floor. I could feel the footsteps of the person above vibrating the headboard of my bed. I could also plainly hear the footsteps and every spoken word of people walking in the hallway outside, the cleaning staff and their children, and in the parking lot. Manager/owner/supervisor obviously didn't care much when we complained, offering weak apologies and claiming himself incapable of doing to make it up to us. He weakly explained that it was because we had arrived in the evening that we were put into a first floor unit — basically admitting that the rooms are noisy and crappy. He attempted to justify it by citing other patrons paying more money and not complaining, and how much other rooms in the area cost — neither of which has anything to do with the fact that we had a crappy experience in his room. I've actually stayed in far cheaper rooms, in more popular areas (Napa Valley, Temecula, Hawaii, San Fran, Vegas, etc), and had far better experiences. He interrupted us, wildly misinterpreted what we were saying in an attempt to argue, and even implied that our complaints were lies and told us we should have stayed somewhere else.

Very disappointed. The pillows smell like urine. The continental breakfast consist of sliced bread, jam, bad coffee, and cut up muffins so you won't take an whole one. I thought I was in third world country. I will never stay here again.

Rm# 111, other than that the place looked great. I didn't notice the smell till after the air conditioner was turned off.
