When staying in Anchorage we always stay at the Best Western Golden Lion. Through the years we have stayed at a number of other hotels in Anchorage based on price, mileage point programs, Trip Advisor reviews etc but ultimately we always come back to this property. It’s nothing fancy but the service is top notch and the rooms are very comfortable. The on-site restaurant offers delicious dining and the lounge is a nice place to relax. We’ve stayed here flying out and returning from domestic and international trips and it’s always like coming back home. We’ve also stayed here after medical procedures at nearby Providence Hospital and been very comfortable while recovering enough to be able to return home. Staff is professional and friendly and maintenance is on top of any issues that may arise during your stay.

The staff was great, the food was ok, the rooms are a bit old but clean. Centrally located and convenient. Room, restaurant, lounge was what we needed after a long day touring.

Nice clean place that is centrally located for our needs. The staff was friendly and efficient. Without a doubt we would stay there again. This was our second visit and we have another one scheduled.

Overall ok. Advantageous location on west side of Anchorage directly on Highway 1. Housekeeping very accommodating with extra towels. Decent lobby hospitality coffee, chilled citrus water & hot water for a surprisingly good Kirkland brand green tea or classic Lipton. We did not try the in house restaurant — there is an excellent diverse food selection within walking distance if you don't mind crossing a few road intersections. Our booking did not include breakfast but room has frig & microwave. Room was spacious but A/C compressor noisy.

Whenever we go to Anchorage we do like to stay at the Best Western the staff there is friendly and makes me feel comfortable like I'm staying with friends. Rooms are quiet and always clean. Linens always fresh. They do have a restaurant that's open for dinner.

Nice hotel with large rooms. Very comfortable and the price was reasonable for the area we were staying. Only downside was that they have no shuttle service to the airport. It is relatively close but only choice is a cab. We had to leave too early to experience their breakfast.

No compliementary breakfast. Rooms are dated and the whole place looks very old. Funny layout in lobby, first floor breakfast area had a big lobby with nothing there. Paid breakfast was not worth the money as there was not much to choose from. Water pressure was way too low with hot water not hot enough. Housekeeping was good. Hotel Entrance is lame. No Pool, No hot tub. Elevator has been roughed up to hide scratches — looks much worse. Basically a hotel that is not going to survive the competition from new modern hotels that offer much better amenities and complimentary breakfast. This is the problem with hotels that have restaurant that forces people to buy breakfast to survive — no more.

This facility is older, clean, and well kept but isn't friendly to those in adult wheelchairs at all. None of the doors are automatic and chairs barely fit thru them. The same with the elevators… We had to take the wheels off our daughters chair just to get it into our room… pretty degrading for a teen. The bathroom sink was an appropriate height but one couldn't possibly fit a chair into it either. My guess is that the Red Lion/Best Western it isn't ADA compliant or is just barely so. The facility hosts a hair salon, laundry availability, and overpriced restaurant, but is close distance to fast food I guess. Bathroom is very clean and hosts liquid soap, lotion, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner options. Oh, and they have wonderful down pillows, but do not have a hypoallergenic option for those allergic.

Was stressed when checking in and desk clerks dis not stand or greet except to make key cards. When asked about a handicap shower chair. "I don't know, if it is not in the room we can have house man bring it. " Traveling companion received chair and immediately took into shower to clean as it had hair and fecal matter on it, then when she was in the shower it was discovered that she had no shower gel in the hotel stocked dispensers. Had to have that discussion with front desk "we can have the houseman fill" yeah sure while my naked female friend is standing there hanging out?!?!? Then as I hand the new gel packet and key to dispenser to her we notice that the floor is FLOODED! As I am the balance challenged person that needs the shower chair this room has now become a hazard for me. Went to front desk, staff was not willing to contact a manager, O insisted. Sheila, the Assistant GM was wonderful, made sure we were taken care of then met with us personally prior to is leaving. May not stay at the hotel again but will definitely go back to the Bistro!

Room reeked of smoke. Was too tired to argue for a new room. Threw window open to air it out. Turned on heater for a few minutes. Had to turn it off it stunk so bad. The elevators and room are unbearably stinky. Cannot stay here again. The orders at the kitchen were delicious the first night and completely wrong the second night. Bar staff was always sitting down on phone or leaving bar area to FaceTime on phone both nights. Had to practically beg him for drinks. Said he was a manager but acted quite unprofessionally. They do have good TV compared to other hotels I've stayed at in anchorage. Soap dispensers in bathroom were empty. No soap provided for hand washing. Room did seem quite clean otherwise. Not great beds but acceptable. Bellhop had bad attitude to begin with but got better after being tipped. Vending machine out of water. There were druggies hanging out in the front when we checked in. No security to make them leave. The window of our room looked out over the back lot with a garbage can where people were " hanging out" and being loud all night. I think they were doing drugs back there. Several different groups frequented that spot during our stay. You can do better for this price. Will never be back.

I'm my Medicaid room there was a few dents on he wall and night stand. The door was annoying to shut. I loved the Wi-Fi and 36 Bistro. I like the business room and laundry room. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

The room was ojay but the bathroom had hair on the floor and mirror. The mirrow was filthy. The dispensers were broken. The drawer beside my bed was broken also a lamp
big white blobs on the rug. The breakfast in the restaurant was horrible. The eggs were cooked BROWN.
