Room was not ready when we arrived and had to wait for over an hour for the room we booked two weeks ago. The front desk associate then gave me grief because when my husband booked the room, my name was not added, so I had to call him at a golf tournament to verify that I wad allowed in the room. When we were finally allowed inside the room, there was a children's birthday party in the room across the hall. No a happy stay.

I travel more than an average person, both for personal and professional reasons so I have seen my fair share of hotels. There are a rare few that make a big impact on me like this place did. Setting up my reservation on the road was extremely easy and when I came to check in, it was seamless. The front desk personnel were friendly and had smiles on their faces, as did all of the employees that I encountered over my stay. The breakfast was good and filling and there was more than enough coffee within a few steps of every place that I looked. The room was nice and quiet and the AC worked better than I planned so the comfortable bedding and warm blankets were a pleasant part as well. The hotel is located with a deli directly across the street and a fast food place just a half block away. The funniest thing I saw when I was there that I wish other places would take note of is that the people were so nice and welcoming that it rubbed off on all of the guests that I talked to or saw around the property. It was like being in an episode of the Twilight Zone as a good 80% of travelers I normally run into are not near as friendly. I honestly think it starts at the desk. Give people a great and happy experience and they will pay it forward.

Guests were throwing graduation party for daughter and were staying at the hotel but kitchen staff refused to bring out enough take home boxes for remaining purchased food to be taken home. This was very disappointing. I thought the hotel staff could ve done better here since their was a considerable amount of money spent in this establishment.

Big comfortable rooms, great breakfast, helpful friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!

Comfy, clean, good water pressure. Great place for a short trip. Keurig K-cups available in the rooms.

Rooms were clean, beds were comfy. Window view was nice. Good for a short stay.

I'm always seeking hotels that are away from major roads and in quiet locations. This Hilton Garden Inn is in an ideal spot — it's easy to find and not far from anything but does not backup to major roads or freeways. I requested a room that faces away from the road and my room was so quiet. Front desk staff was friendly, the room was clean and bed comfortable. I grabbed some dessert and a beer to-go for a pre-bedtime snack and the gentleman working the café area was friendly and attentive. If I find myself back in this area i'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Needs some updating, room TV pretty small, breakfast rather slim for an HGI.

My family and I had traveled all night, 10 hrs, and got to the hotel at 6:30 am. Front desk was nice enough to get us a room by 8:30 am. Overall, this hotel was nice and I would stay there again.

The experience was GREAT. REALLY good service and staff. The front counter guy was Awesome! Convenient location also.

Our 4th room was clean and quiet and ready for us upon our arrival. Staff was friendly. Checked into room, went back downstairs for dinner as we'd driven ALL day thru the rain — sometimes very heavy rain. We shared a nice shrimp cocktail. Hubby enjoyed the BBQ ribs Would not advise ordering the salmon dish. AT ALL! Not sure how it was prepared, but was The most overcooked salmon I've ever had… very, very dry & hard. It wasn't grilled or panfried & looked anemic. I may have eaten a third of it. I did enjoyed the grilled veggies (asparagus, onions, yellow & green peppers) but it did not come w/the rice stated in the menu — came w/ mashed potatoes. B'fast the next morning was typical b'fast food. I appreciated a choice of tomato juice — not as sweet as apple /orange etc. Fruit was excellent — nice & fresh. Hot selections are served to you as you expressed what you wanted on your plate. Staff there was also very accommodating & friendly.

Arrival process was simple and quick for the most part. The overall appearance was welcoming. The room itself was a little on the rank side, smelly bathroom with chipping paint. Breakfast was only ok, but I did go about 20 mins till closing. The staff was pretty amazing though! Location was convenient to shopping, food, and gas. Nothing stood out to make it a 5 star rating, but I'd definitely go back.

Nice, elegant, modern, and best of all clean. The hotel restaurant is in the lobby, so that needs some changing, but there is plenty of other options nearby, within walking distance.

My digital key was ready prior to my arrival, which was awesome. The room was clean and updated, as well as quiet. Overall a good stay.

Staff was nice, but rooms weren't very clean and breakfast was $11/person! Not worth it if you ask me. Next time we will look for a Holiday Inn that provides a free hot breakfast. If you do stay here, don't worry, there is a McDonald's across the street.

Room was clean but small though bar/restaraunt was good food and drink at a reasonable price.

Nice location convenient to Homewood, Mountain Brook and Hoover. Rooms have comp Wi-Fi, fridge, micro and kuerig coffee maker. Lovely lobby with multiple lounge areas, fireplace, breakfast bar and small convenience/snack store. Numerous restaurants and a day spa adjacent to property.

My customer cancelled our appointment and I called to cancel my reservation and since I was inside the 72 hour window they wouldn’t cancel it without charging for the night plus taxes. I’m a Gold Hilton Rewards member but that will change. I will not stay at another Hilton Hotel if possible. I understand there is a Policy but there is also common sense and good customer relations. Edit: 10/2017, I heard from hhonors customer service and they will credit me for this if I get billed. I left the hotel manager a voicemail but never had a return call or anything so I’m assuming it was billed since I’ve not heard otherwise. Again though hhonors appears to be taking care of me.

Lousy cheap hard spring mattress. Hilton should be ashamed. Mattress old, hard, and springs poking through like a cheap hotel. We've stayed at Hilton's all over the world. Worst mattress ever. Staff nice and friendly. Room was clean. Sheets nice. Looked great. But…

Attended a meeting in their conference room. The space looks nice and would do in a pinch, but the room smelled like chlorine, and there were but if mold on the wall. There team at the front desk was nice and brewed me fresh coffee when I asked.

After being away from this hotel for 8 months, the ladies in the breakfast room not only remembered me, but my two kids and our entire family! Everyone at this hotel has been so kind that I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Birmingham.

The indoor pool was cold, the hot tub jets wouldn't work, the bed was good, the breakfast was ok. I will stay at the embassy suites next time I am in Birmingham.

Staff was rude, rooms weren't clean, and air conditioners in room are very loud. I've stayed in a number of Hilton Garden Inns and my experience here was nothing like any of the other locations. Hotel isn't well cared for, rooms are outdated, and staff wasn't helpful or responsive. Save your time and money and stay elsewhere.

My wife and I stopped in after a long drive. The front desk clerk (Hope) was incredibly friendly and had a smile the entire time. The rooms were clean and tidy. NO BEDBUGS! It's a big fear of ours but we checked and it was clean & comfortable. The coffee isn't bad, either! Went down in the morning for breakfast and it was made with fresh ingredients. The pancakes and ham — n-cheese omelet filled a belly and made this guy happy. The staff cooking and waiting tables were friendly and all smiles as well. Just a great experience all the way around.

Check in front desk clerk was nice. Checked in at 1150 pm checked out at 350 am. Room was clean. I've stayed at cheap hotels in the past and wanted a good night's sleep so I paid the $40 more to stay at a "nicer" hotel… well, should have saved my money. After tossing and turning for three hours I decided it was useless. I actually looked to see if there was a mattress on the bed and not just a box springs. Besides being incredibly uncomfortable the bed squeaked every time you moved. Front desk couldn't produce a receipt at checkout and said they'd email it in the morning. I actually showed them my alarm set for 645am when they asked how everything was. They said sorry. In my opinion, don't have your employees ask how things were if they don't have the power to fix it. I did get about two total hours sleep and a hot shower. Cost per hour of sleep… $50. Cost for shower… $20ish. Save your money, pick a different hotel or sleep on the ground.

The staff was professional and polite! They went out of their way to cater to our group and it was a very nice experience.

Room was great, service great, some outside doors didn't work with our key cards but it was only minor things.

Staff were very friendly. I wish I could post a pic of the nasty keurig in my room. I ran plain water through it and the water came out black. They had the most uncomfortable bed ever with horribly flat as paper feather pillows. Now normally I love the Hilton but it's the first time staying at the garden Inn version. Hilton normally has the most comfortable beds on earth with pillows that I'd put in my own home but this was horrible. The a/c was dirty and we ended up with runny eyes sire throat and a cough. They only have breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings but there are plenty of close restraunts and a Walmart across the street. Pool closes at ten and they have a very nice hottub. Overall I was disappointed.

Room clean. People friendly. I try to stay at hilton garden inns as much as possible when I'm on the road. Definitely consistent chain. That have breakfast in the morning. Dinner at night. Love it.

This hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and quick to meet any need. Room is exactly what I expect from this chain and will not hesitate to stay here again.

The rooms are nice. That's to be expected when you pay $150 a night at any Hilton property. However, it's the little things that make the difference for traveling professionals like myself. This hotel doesn't do the little things to make guest feel welcome. It's a shame to have a business office with a print/SCAN/fax machine that doesn't allow you to scan to email, or scan to PC, or USB, or ANYTHING! When I went upfront to ask if this can be accomplished they said they could not scan anything for me. So after traveling all day I had to get back into my car and drive over next door to the Marriott and ask them to scan my documents for me. Second instance after my 45 minute delay of not being able to scan the documents I needed. I finally got to my room and decided to unwind with a trip to the hot tub which coincidentally did not work. I called this property earlier in the day to make sure they had a hot tub and it was in working order and they said yes it was fully operational. I sat in a Piss warm hot tub waiting one hour for the maintenance man to arrive to fix the hot tub to which I was told he would be there in 15 min 3 times. Needless to say I will not be visiting this property ever again and I suggest you try a property that values your time and money.

Husband is HILTON HONORS Diamond Member. King bed sagged horribly! We left our room at noon and returned at 2am after attending an evening football game at the University of Alabama only to find that our room had not been serviced! The desk clerk did find some clean towels when husband went down to complain since no one answer the phone! Upon checking out the next morning, we brought this situation to the desk clerk attention and she credited us $45 on our bill. We were left wondering — if this is how you treat your most frequent customer — what happens with the rest.

We love to stay at Hilton Garden Inns. That is why we chose this hotel. Unfortunately it wasn't as nice as the other locations we've stayed in. First off there were no bags in any of the trash cans. There was no inner liner to the shower curtain. The bathroom smelled very strongly of mildew. The furniture, walls, paint, in general was dinged up all over. The usual "sleep system" on the beds we love so much seemed like a regular mattress. The air conditioner made a small buzzing sound all night. Last, the housekeeping service was banging on the door and woke us up at 8:30 am while we were trying to sleep in on the morning we were leaving. The staff was nice and the outside of the building was as nice as the others as was the lounge, but the room itself was MUCH to be desired. Find a different hotel while in Birmingham. (If in Savannah, GA or Huntsville, AL then the Hilton Garden Inn is much nicer).
