This hotel in Istanbul is a great find. It’s in a really convenient location but the big thing is the amazing service from the friendly staff. The rooms are large, quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Old Turkish style boutique hotel with comfortable rooms in Sultanahmet. Very friendly and helpful staff especially Selim and Omer where nothing was too much trouble in advising of the best sites and directions. Great buffet breakfast. Our second stay and won't be the last.

I had a wonderful time in this hotel the staff are so welcoming in the hotel they helped us with everything showing the destinations. All the places to see is near the hotel walking distance so it was very easy for me and My family. The breakfast was very nice in the morning and clean hotel rooms well presented I would recomend whoever is going Istanbul to come here you will have a good experience.

Great location, home atmosphere, druzhelyubnyy staff. The first time independently booked the hotel and accidentally got on the Basileus. Very inspired by the feedback from previous guests. Glad I trusted the recommendations. At check in got a room booked a few better. At the same time, immediately refused to pay, barely persuaded to take the money on the third day. Lived in three small, but very cozy. In room mini-bar, tea and coffee. A very comfortable bed. At the reception spoke briefly about the location of interesting places (but only in English). Quite a decent Breakfast. Wi Fi is not very. Five minutes away are the Hippodrome and, consequently, many of the most famous historical sites. However, to go uphill, but not stressful. Near several cafes, fresh juices. At the check-out helped with the airport transfers. Only a good impression and a desire again to go back.

It was my first visit to Istanbul rather Turkey which came to an end a short while ago and I must say that I fell in love with the historical city for numerous reasons. The warmth, guidance and hospitality that came from the hotel staff is surely on the top of the list, need I say more. Though I was accompanied by my sister on the trip who has visited Istanbul three times previously (it is no more a surprise to me why she absolutely adores this city), however we would still count on the valuable information and directions provided to us by the hotel staff (who to me, were the stars of the show). I must stress on the generosity of their inputs which we received without having to make any extra effort and without the feeling of any kind of interference in our space. The day we arrived, Mr. Salem welcomed us in the most professional and friendly manner. He is very well informed and attentive. He also gave us an “easy to understand” brief of the location and nearby places along with taking us through the map. While Mr. Salem was away on account of the festival of Eid in the days later, Mr. Omer was our focal person. He was very helpful throughout our seven days stay and would go out of the way in explaining the directions and mark everything for us on the map. His inputs made the touring less hectic and stressful. Also, he would briefly elaborate upon the pros and cons of the places we had selected to visit and was kind to inform us about the opening and closing hours.

Very good quality to price. Staff, specially Selim, is very attentive and helpful. Plenty of nearby local restaurants and minutes away walking from Blue Mosque. A hotel I highly recommend.

Strategically Basileus hotel is within walking distance to the majority of the "must see's" in instanbal, plus some of the most amazing hidden little restaurants. The rooms are tidy and well kept, with daily house keeping. There is a delicious and diverse complementary buffet breakfeast every day. There is good Wi-Fi and free fresh bottled water. Although what makes me give Basileus hotel 5 stars is the unprecedented and proactive customer service. I can not praise Mr. Selim Kuden and Mr. Mohammed enough for their assitance, advice and genuine kindness. Make sure you listen to Selim's 3 minute talk, it will be envaluable and save you alot of time and money.

The hotel is not cost this money, compared to similar for money. There is something to compare, because I often stayed in Istanbul. On the lower grand floor rooms are similar to storerooms, the smell of dampness, fungus and mold in the bathroom, old and torn towels. Breakfast is very poor, tea and coffee are also poor quality. I refused breakfast.  All services is a very poor quality. After my objections, I changed the number to the 2nd floor, where the room was better, but the room was stuffy, and if you open the window, the scent of the garbage was, since the windows located is very near of the trash storage boxes. The staff at the reception is friendly. I do not recommend staying at this hotel, for a similar price you can rent other hotels with much higher in quality. I'm attaching the photo of the room. I was forced to stay for 1 night because I came late at night. The hotel counts on tourists who came to Istanbul for the first time and who do not know the value for money. For the service. And I do not think that all the positive reviews about the hotel are really written by customers stopping there. Отель не стоит своих денег, по сравнению с аналогичными за теже деньги. Great location! Very centrally located. Just minutes away from main visiting points, food and the tram (use the tram to move around the city). Neighborhood is safe. Highly recommend!

Our overall experience in this small hotel have been very nice and we had stayed there three times. The brothers running it were very nice, helpful and flexible. One time they let us check in at 6 am in the morning without asking for a half day fee. Since the terrorist attacks a few years ago, the tourism had gone downhill in Turkey and the hotel price dropped steeply. As such this hotel has great value. The service, proximity to the famous sites, the nice rooms, the breakfast and the low cost all add up to an wonderful experience.

Cozy hotel right in the middle of the old town, around many attractions and easy to get to other interesting places of Istanbul! Absolutely everything in the hotel is polite and pleasant people, ready to help in any question! The room is small, cozy and clean, French balcony, white bed. At the check-in Omar provided a map and all told) in the morning you can easily eat omelets, muesli, cottage cheese, toast and then already conquer Kekaby, Djonery and Baklava! We have only positive emotions and from the beautiful city of Istanbul, where history is preserved, but with it harmoniously look modern skyscrapers and technologies; And from the Hotel Basileus! We hope to return again)

Amazing Hotel! This hotel made Me and my husbands visit to Turkey a pleasure. As soon as we arrived to the hotel which was late at night, Salim welcomed us and made us feel like family straight away as he was very polite and friendly. He provided us with the key for our room and said he will see us in the morning. The next morning we were amazed by the variation of food in the buffet breakfast which was an awesome bonus at the hotel. Salim kindly provided us with essential information about the area we were in and good places to visit as well as providing us advice. Also Omar, a colleague of Salim was brilliant in providing us information on how to get to certain places. Thank you all — definitely 5 stars!

Two nights in the Basileus Hotel when in Istanbul recently were an absolute pleasure. It feels like a piece of history as you sit in this stylish hotel, surrounded by amazing design. It has been there since the 1920’s and you feel like you step back in time a little. It is ideally located to provide access to all the parts of the city you would want to visit. I must say that 2 nights isn’t enough! You feel like you want to stay for as long as you can. Look out for this smart building and you have found a corner of Istanbul that will put a smile on your face. The transport links in the city are great, so you know that you are only a short ride away from the best parts of Istanbul at any time of the day or night. The service in the hotel is excellent and I always felt that I was at the centre of their attention whenever I needed it. The food was great in the morning and I highly recommend that you visit the Basileus Hotel if you are in the city at any time. Take it from me that you will be happy with your stay.

Excellent budget property. Situated in walking distance of Istanbul historic places. No need of car/transportation to go to major Istanbul attractions. Excellent staff who will give all information you need to make your stay in Istanbul memorable. They provide a decent breakfast every morning. Lots of restraints nearby. Liquor shop situated opposite to hotel.

The best hotel in town! It has a great location just near the Blue mosque and Aya Sophia. The rooms are clean and nice. The breakfast is delicious and have a good variety. The best part is the owner Mr. Salim who is always welling to help and give assistance. We enjoyed our time in this place.

Me and my family had a fabulous stay… comfortable room and beds, everything worked great, breakfast was adequate, the building had character, location was ideal just ten minutes from sultanahmed blue mosque, couple of small interesting restaurants right next to the hotel, and it was a calm location not too noisy. Selim was a gracious host who helped us out with the itinerary and whatever we asked. I'd go there again.

It is a very simple hotel and well located. It is eligible for a few days ' getaway to Istanbul. Omar and his colleagues are very attentive at all times, and do not hesitate to ask questions because they respond with pleasure, and that is perceived. Breakfast is varied, for tastes colors. The value for money seemed good, and the human factor is the one that made the difference.

A nice and cozy hotel at the Sultanahmet, near the blue mosque and other tourist attractions. Spacious and clean rooms. The place is pretty quiet considering it's in one of the most busy parts of the city. Breakfast was pretty good. Also they keep tea and cakes near the lobby so that you can grab whenever you feel like. But the best part is hospitality. Mr. Saleem and other host were very friendly and helpful whenever we needed any info or guidance. Most of the time, they'd only come eagerly and offer help in your travel planning and everything else. They really made us feel at home.

Great Hotel. Stayed 7 days and never regretted. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But Elementary knowledge of English is necessary, as In Hotel Russian do not know at all. The Rooms are small but cozy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Mini-bar has 3 bottles of water free of charge every day. Good breakfasts (scrambled eggs, fries, cheeses, pastries, juices etc. ). The location is super convenient, on a quiet street, but within walking distance of all the sights. Recommend. Next time we'll stop here.

The location is very good. Close to everything. You can visit everything walking. Good breakfast. Excellent service. All the people at the reception super friendly help you in everything you need and dedicate the time necessary for you to manage without inconvenience. I would choose it again.

I chose this hotel because it had excellent rating and good appreciation and frankly I was not disappointed I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to feel at home.

The only downside is that to reach Sultanamhet, there is a small ride, so with wife and child it was a bit of a hassle… but the good news is that to return to the hotel, it goes down…
Otherwise there is the seaside at 5 mn The Blue Mosque also at 5 mn. Little mention. For Mohamed, Selim and Omer who gave us all the good plans not to make us have and advised us of great place.

The experience at Basileus Hotel has been amazing. Traveling as a solo female in Turkey was slightly intimidating at first, but this was not the case once I arrived at this fabulous, welcoming boutique hotel. All of the staff made me feel like I am part of their family and welcomed me with open arms. From the moment I contacted them, they had excellent communication via email to when I arrived, I was guided through all of my adventures with the details from the reception. The staff works together and creates a family atmosphere amongst their guests which made this stay top notch. The location is less than a ten minute walk to the Blue Mosque and then to Hagia Sophia and the tram station. You can take a ferry to Prince Islands or a Bosphorus Cruise for a very good price. There are some tasty and affordable restaurants nearby too that are not so touristy if you want to stay close to the hotel. The guys at the hotel can show you and tell you anything you want to know about the area and are so knowledgeable of Istanbul and are very proud to show off their country. They lobby has seating that creates for great conversations amongst the staff and other guests creating a great climate for travelers to share about life and experience if they chose. Here you can enjoy a complimentary tea and water. The breakfast has a lot of variety from eggs to cereal to Turkish cuisine. The rooms were equipped with everything that you need and are very comfortable.

We have not left yet and so happy to have chosen here as it is a great location, very good room, and Selim is great and so knowledgeable and wanting to help. The breakfast choice is also really good and plenty of healthy options.

This is a great family run hotel in the heart of the old city. All attractions like the Blue Mosque are within minutes walk. There are a few restaurants, atm, and small shops meters away. The best attribute of the hotel is the welcoming nature of the staff and owners. Infact you won't be able to tell the difference between them since they all bend over backwards sincerely to help you. Then there's the price, in peak season it was very reasonable €60 for a family room, and breakfast was pretty decent too. I couldn't highly recommend this hotel enough.

Very convenient location. The location is very close to the beach and the hotel. Nothing A big choice of different foods for any taste. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The home atmosphere is not at the hotel but at the beloved aunt's. It's not extort. Ready to help you any time of day on any question. Very good breakfast.

I have stayed at Basileus twice, once in 2012 and recently this past august. As usual you are greeted with warm happy faces from either Omer, Selim, or Ekrem. Their knowledge of Istanbul and the surrounding cities are very valuable. The stay was wonderful! Perfect location, perfect rooms, perfect breakfast and service! I highly recommend Basileus for your stay in Istanbul!

Great hotel. Friendly staff. They upgraded my room. Finding the hotel can be little difficult if you are not familiar with the area.

Very strategic position (less than 500m to SultanAhmet central square). Very nice staff, clean conditionned rooms, quite and secure. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. You may find cheaper rooms in the area, but the quality will disapoint!

Hotel was fantastic and the staff were amazing. A great location to get to the main attractions. We got there late Saturday night. We were welcomed by staff and settled into our rooms straight away. We got a room upgrade the following day. Staff were very attentive to our needs and helpful. Hotel staff were warm welcoming and made you feel at home. Hotel ambiance was great. Loved the afternoon tea with cake which was laid out for everyone for free every day. Would like to say Thank you to Selim and his team for making our stay so enjoyable. Last year I had been here in this cozy family run hotel. Warm, cooperative and happy staff. Excellent breakfast. And above all 5 minutes walking distance from Blue Mosque n main old city attractions. Hope the terrorist activities are curtailed soon. It pains to know that such a beautiful nation is cursed by terrorism.

Reasons for this hotel, our journey to Istanbul is wonderful. Ekrem and Salim was very helpful, staff do everything they can to help us. Rooms are compact, but very comfortable and very good location. Walk a short distance to the Hippodrome and Blue Mosque, as well as other wonders of Sultan Ahmet. A wide range of food choices for breakfast, and they'd do some eggs according to your preferences. Wi-Fi in the room very good, connection is not the problem …

Across the street and some local restaurants, taste good and not expensive. The room rate includes breakfast, delicious. Though we had lived in Istanbul many years ago, we had to rely on friends who had previously visited Basileus Hotel to get a recommendation. It could not have been better! This family run establishment knows how to hit all the right notes. It is located in the heart of the historical district and an easy walk to all of the popular sites. The rooms are well appointed, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is simply unbelievable offering an enormous variety of traditional Turkish fare. But best of all is the staff. They bend over backwards to make sure that you have the best experience possible.

Basileus Hotel is an unassuming mid-level hotel run by family members who take pride in providing excellent customer service. Four of us stayed in two rooms for five nights; throughout, we felt at home. The rooms are simple, but more spacious than those of many other hotels in Istanbul, and they are clean. The brothers/cousins were super helpful in recommending various activities — — extending themselves to secure tickets, transportation, restaurant reservations and other accommodations. The breakfast buffet is very good — — fresh, assorted, and they'll make you an omelet on the asking. Note that the hotel is in a good — — though not ideal — — location. If you don't mind walking 15 to 20 minutes up hill to most of the key sites, this might be the hotel for you. For us, Basileus Hotel provided remarkable value for the money.

This great hotel is located near historical places, major touristic monuments, Near tram station (withing walking distance), This great hotel is not luxury but we have everything we wanted. We liked the decoration very much, informal staff very respectful as well as very friendly and helpful with its great hosts. Big rooms and very clean hotel. Breakfast is generous and delicious.

This is a family operated business, The staff at Hotel Basileus were extremely kind and friendly. The breakfasts are delicious, including fresh yogurt, fruit, breads, turkish coffee and omelettes on request. Location was great, about a three minute walk from the all the the main sights of Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Grand Palace, Grand Bazaar, basilica cistern. Overall, the hotel is a great bang for your buck and I would highly recommend Basileus to anyone who visits Istanbul.
