The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the location is good, the boss is nice and the breakfast is great.

Where do I start… we can't thank ma and her staff enough for our wonderful stay at the guesthouse, nothing is to much trouble for ma including doing our laundry to taking us to the airport. And the girls in the salon do wonders on your tired feet, mine felt brand new… I'm already looking at when we can return.

I stayed at MA1 and MA2, the hospitality is beyond, the MA1 has plenty of charachter though the next door restaurant can get busy and since I am am early sleeper, (by midnight it's dead quiet) I booked MA2 for my second visit as its tucked away in the back streets. Ma herself is a heartfelt woman, I truly enjoy how they treat you like their guest visiting from abroad. It felt like having your own mum around talking care of you making sure all. Is well. I highly recommend this place.

My best staying traveling in Thailandia. I liked the environment, the beautiful terrace where you can have breakfast and meet other guests, the richness of breakfast, the laundry service, and, above all, how the host, Ima, and her staff are careful, always nice, full of attention for each guest. Ma Guesthouse is that kind of place where you feel so good that you would like to repeat the trip just to come back there.

I'm staying in a hotel that costs me $40 a night yes it's lovely, but this guesthouse wouldve cost me half the price and it was so much nicer, traditional Thai feel, with great people staying, great characteristic house, always good to eat with fresh water and a little balcony, it's in a quiet part of the old city with a beautiful park right behind it. The best part Ma is just lovely she is literally like your mum away from home. And I only visited the guesthouse to see a friend! Ma also has a saloon downstairs and I have never ever seen so much talent in a hairdressers, you'd be crazy not to stay here.

Not enough good things can be said about Ma and her team at her guesthouse, located in the SW quarter of the Old City above her beauty salon (which she gives discount to her guests on haircuts and other services) — a perfect base to explore Chiang Mai and beyond. We stayed here for 6 nights and each was an absolute pleasure. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, each going the extra mile to ensure that our stay was the best it could be. Ma herself helped us book various activities to do in Chiang Mai such as watching some Muay Thai boxing, attending a Thai cookery class, and a trip to Pai. A free laundry service was also provided. The rooms were immaculate and beautifully decorated. Our private bathroom was outside on the balcony but sheltered from the outside world, very surreal. There was also the option of using a shared bathroom on the same floor. Breakfast was provided everyday which included sticky mango rice, an assortment of fresh fruit, and other Thai cuisine such as pad thai or curry that was freshly homemade. Bread and condiments were available throughout the day if we got hungry, as were tea, coffee and cold drinking water. These were all on the gorgeous outdoor terrace with plants and benches to sit and relax or observe the passing citizens.

The place was very good. The location is very accessible and the host are very kind and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. Bonuses are the free laundry and a ride going to the bus station (airport). Be definitely be going back to this place.

This is a great place Ma and her husband are very welcoming and lovely people. The rooms are clean comfortable and good value. There are facilities to cook for yourself and a microwave. As well as a large balcony to chill in at the end of the day. On the edge of the Thapae Gate area so close but also far enough away from the night markets.

I love my home with Ma in Chiang Mai. She is so caring and you really feel part of the family. Great breakfast every morning, free water, drinks and snacks all day. She cut my hair and drove me to the airport early am. I love the cats that share the floor with me. Thank you Ma, sister and others, you are all terrific :)

Wow, what a find! We had looked at a few spots, based on reviews in the travel books — all seemed to be just ho hum or sort of banking on their past reputation… didn't find the warm welcoming feel of Thailand in any of them. Then we looked across the street and there was this inviting little sanctuary. We went upstairs and couldn't believe how perfect! The deck is such a welcoming spot — couches, plants, cozy and peaceful. Add to that mix that Ma has everything fully stocked — teas, snacks and more. The rooms were clean and and cozy, shared bathroom was very clean. Costs a little more that the super budget places, but soooo worth it to have a sanctuary in the city. Amazing hospitality. Plus you can get a great haircut by Ma in her salon downstairs! Really, this place is a true find. Thanks Ma for providing a home for us travelers. (We stayed 2 yeas ago, but I just found this page online and really wanted to share this spot with others. )

A very friendly guest house, a very nice staff, the rooms are very clean and well decorated. Multiple services: Laundry, luggage storage, bottled water at will, breakfast, shuttle to the airport… In short an authentic place!

Well located on busy avenue and quiet at night. Beautiful terrace, wooden furniture, beautiful very clean rooms. The ladies who work there are extremely kind. Small lunch varied every day. Frigo with bottled water available. Etc etc. I find no negative.

The surrounding is a bit noisy but Ma is the sweetest woman and all the staff is really nice … thank you I really appreciate my stay here and highly recommand this place.

We loved our stay at Ma Guesthouse Chiang Mai. Everyone was helpful and happy we were there. Free Thai breakfast every morning and cold water all day long. Many international guests to talk to and expand your world view. Ma has a hair salon downstairs offering foot massage only, but will bring in the most incredible Thai massage person if you ask. Excellent rates right in the thick of old town Chiang Mai.
