Fabulous hotel tucked away in one of Stonetown's narrow streets. This old hotel is well preserved and has a pleasant roof space where breakfast is served. The owners and staff and exceptionally helpful. Great location from which to explore stone Town and beyond. Very close to the main tourist area and larger hotels. Also close to the ocean for those who want an early morning dip. For non tourists it won't take long to get off the well trodden path to find a different Zanzibar. Would for sure stay here again. Point to note, no hotels in Zanzibar have elevators. If you have mobility challenges request a low floor.

Charming boutique hotel right in the centre of the old town. Not flash, but perfectly fine for the price. Friendly Frank on reception is a mine of information.

After 15 days around tanzania, even in Safari, probably this is the worse: high expectation for the booking rate but big delusion — the first place where Wi-Fi didnt work at all. Even in the safari in the middle of nothing was working. — TV not working at all: I didn't want TV and I didn't expect this, but there was and I tried: no channel and screen view was terrible. Why to put I don't know. — breakfast was enough… — good location was the unique pro — our room was in ground floor, super smell of closed. For the money I have spent I was expecting much more. I was thinking to have low standards with low prices, but all around we spent really a lot for poor standards. More than 60 dollars in Africa I consider quite expensive.

If I could give it 6 stars I will. The location is perfect. The staff is super friendly, the room are equivalent to what you pay for. Would highly recommend if in a limited budget in stonetown.

Excellent location. Just in front of Hyatt. You can go have drinks and supper at Hyatt in the evening and watch the sun set. Best sunset view in StoneTown. The rooms were great with a Aircon. Breakfast was limited, but filling. The only issue we had with the room was bedbugs. We carried bed bug spray and they also spray the rooms every night. They didn't spray one night and the bugs kept us awake.

Great and helpful staff. They made everything they could to help us. Room was small but nice, with A/C which helped sleeping at night. Breakfast could be improved, a bit basic. Generally affordable and good accommodation in Stonetown.

Amazing customer service everyone is so courteous so helpful I dt know how to thank you all for your kind hospitality each and every one of you from Mr. Santosh, Juma, Novice, Abdallah (for the yummylicious finger licking food) and the whole team from Reception to the Restaurant you are all just wonderful. Anyone coming to Zanzibar should definitely put up at Al Minar I definitely recommend it. I am surely going to miss you all. Great hotel. Very clean, very good beds and rooms, friendly staff, extra good location (Google Maps location is wrong, the hotel is actually situated behind the Hyatt, 1 minute walk from the ocean) and good breakfast.
