Very disappointed to hear not dog friendly after being told it was yesterday.
It needs to be more forward thinking in this day and age. I was told it was because of health and hygiene purposes.

Recommendable hotel with a very nice Irish atmosphere very good food clean and well managed and life music on weekends. Only a stone throw away from the beach. I enjoyed my stay there!

Nice relaxing meal with very helpful staff. Large choice of daily specials with great variety. The Whole Sea Bass was a daily specials & deliciously fresh, best fish I've eat in years. Desert was the Bailey's praline Sundae & again was yum. Well worth a visit for good food fans.

Food was very disappointing, bland tasteless, fish and chips, presentation was ok, big portion, but certainly was not fresh, will not be having it again… €16.50 each, not cheap, both plates went back almost full.

Unfortunately just had to walk out after waiting for 20 mins with my family and no service. Went to find the menus ourselves then sat and sat and sat. Lady at the bar totally disinterested in serving us. Place wasn't even busy. Great pity because we've always had such fabulous food and service there before. This was at 2.30 on 17/7. Someone needs to have a word with the staff.

Very nice hotel, we went there just for dinner but we enjoyed it so much. Food was great and we liked the atmosphere there.

Good hotel in Kilkee. Simple but spacious rooms. Good cleaning but not great. Very convenient the pub on the ground floor where you can drink a great Guinness at affordable prices.

If I could give 0 I would. Worst Hotel I ever stayed. Place and location is great but staff … Ignorant, not willing to help. Room I had — was no Wi-Fi. I had to look for staff to resolve this 3 times. Calls to receptions was never answered. Answer received — owner left, we can't do anything. If you can, avoid this hotel. There are better places to stay.

Gorgeous views if you sit in the window. Food was excellent. Service was really quick Staff friendly. The bar is rustic and there is a pool table if you want to play a game of pool. Fantastic music and atmosphere. Hard enough to get a drink it was very busy, but because of the music, I didn't mind the wait.

Nice hotel with bar and restaurant. Few minutes walking distance to the beach. View from your dining table. Parking and wheelchair accessible entrance on the pub side. Arcade games in the pub area with pool table. Decent menu options very traditional food. Child friendly. Nice seating area inside the reception.

Food is amazing. Never stayed here as I live nearby but I wouldn't hesitate if I was just visiting. Good staff that are very accommodating. My favorite restaurant in Kilkee.

I've eaten here a few times now, I've eaten from the lunch menu and the main menu. All of our meals were absolutely beautiful. After our meal last time we sat on the huge comfy sofas in front of the fire and had a few drinks before we had a few games of pool in the bar. Great evening. Planning to go back very soon! The beach is just over the road and during the summer I like to sit in a certain spot at a table for 2 looking over at the beach. It's a nice place.

Im am leaving my first review on Google business to call attention — not to the Stella Maris Hotel — but to the completely dishonest review that was posted by a Jessica Brady earlier today (Oct 21st). I can not dispute how she found her cheese plate (I didn't see it) but I can absolutly challenge her lies about how the bar tender handled the situation as I was sitting at the bar watching a football match as she brought her gripe to his attention. I am paraphrasing but his response was something along the line of, " Oh, I'm very sorry about that, I'll make sure to make a note of it to the owner and I will remove it from your bill. ". Jessica Brady continued to express how difficult the whole cheese board experience was for her and the bartender continued to apologise. When the match I was watching ended, I exited through the front door to see the same bartender (15 mins after the complaint) still kowtowing to this woman at her table. What she has written in her review is quite simply dishonest. Shame on your "offering" Jessica Brady.

We had an unnecessarily unpleasant experience here today. Long story short: I ordered a cheese-board which, at €8.50 was in my opinion slightly pricey. When it arrived, it looked tired and disappointing in its presentation, carelessly assembled and included a small bunch of grapes which had bits cut out of them… I will post a photo if I can work out how to do it. I am a great supporter of local enterprise wherever I go but this offering was under par so I asked to speak to the manager. The farce that followed was straight out of Fawlty Towers (but without the humour). The young (ish) man took offence at my (politely-worded) complaint and became more defensive and unprofessional by the second. Suffice it to say that we, a extremely well-travelled couple of Irish food lovers will not be back. Note to the owner, who was not in the building: please teach your staff to accept complaints without resorting to defensiveness!

Silly me, I made no Hotel reservation for this one night of our 10-day Ireland trip! After getting to Kilkee and walking The Cliffs, we stopped at Hickie's Pub and had a bite (excellent seafood chowder, by the way). After being told no rooms available there, we walked across the street to Stella Maris. They had one room free. It wasn't the fanciest there, but we were made most welcomed and we had a good sleep. Very quaint and Mary was a doll! I even left her a bit of henna art at our table come morning…

Went for a coffee outside, ignored by waiting staff so went to nice looking bar.

Food was wonderful. Seafood incredibly fresh. Waitress attention to detail and friendliness second to none.

Comfortable hotel with close. Proximity to beach. Good service and bar.

Amazing service, very cheap for a twin room even in the height of summer. Breakfast was free with the room but made to order (not just buffet style). The bar is great with good lunch / dinner and billiards table for entertainment. Very close to the beach and other establishments in the area. Highly recommend.

But they switched it off early when I said it was disturbing. Apart from that. Everything was great. The room was really clean and the staff were fantastic really. The bar downstairs is a regular for many of the local people, a real friendly bunch. Which really made it a pretty interesting place to be. I loved the atmosphere! And the food was just spot on. As for the town and the surrounding area. Just stunning! The views along the coastal walks were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend a visit to this town! Edit: Room 20, really nice with a nice sea view. Still love this place!

This year, for the first time, we actually were there, great food, prices reasonablem, nice view, godd service.

This is a very pleasant family run hotel, I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent. If you're looking to stay in Kilkee then look no further!

The food was amazing on the valentine menu. There were four of us dining and we were delighted. The friendly staff were a bonus. We will return for sure. Pity we didn't have a better view from the room but it was a lovely room.

WOW — great staff, exceptionally clean in ALL areas.

Although it's a hotel and doesn't have many tables, the Stella Maris clearly has an excellent chef. Great seafood chowder, fish, and in general cooking of a much higher standard than you'd expect. The service is pub-style, but quick and friendly. A very good choice for food along the Co. Claire coast. The town has an attractive sandy bay not far from the hotel, and the hotel is kid-friendly.
