Review of Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge 5*

I stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days and it is easily one of my WORST experiences. The first day I was given a room on the upper floor, after settling in, I noticed that the room was full of ants and a lizard. I called down to reception to have them move me to another room and have the room sprayed thoroughly because I am deathly afraid of bugs. It was extremely hard to converse with the lady because she did not speak English. After a long time and lots of broken English later, she understood what I wanted. I went down for lunch and ordered a chicken burger — it was disgusting. Next day for breakfast I had eggs Sunnyside (came extremely dry) and sausages. I had ordered toast too but that never made it to my room — perhaps the monkeys stole it. Lots of monkeys around as well for anyone afraid of them. I tried the pizza for lunch and it was soggy in the middle and the beef had sand or rocks in it because I heard the crunch while chewing. The rooms are really cold and they should invest in heaters. Room service is also horrible. Every night that I called for room service, the lady just never understood me and I was always asked to repeat myself several times. Maybe she just couldn't hear me due to the extremely loud background noise I always heard when calling. Waiter would always forget essential things like condiments or milk for coffee or a bottle opener for my soda bottle! A little bit about the room itself. The mosquito netting on the bed was torn. The sheet on the bed had cigarette holes. There are no sockets around the bed area. Tv channels are ridiculous and fuzzy even though we live in HD era. Lamps don't work. Cushions on the couch are filthy with dust. The curtains were torn or sewed back up and was very visible. Cobwebs on the ceiling. There's a fireplace in the room but no wood. The bathroom has a jacuzzi that had worm like insects in it. The netting on the windows were torn. The Wi-Fi is extremely spotty. The only good thing about this place is the scenery. Everything else is HORRIBLE. Don't waste your money, you're better off spending it at Mt Meru hotel.
