After a tour of a week in Sri Lanka, we had chosen this hotel to spend a night before re — take off the next day for the Maldives.
We booked a TAJ CLUB room seen sea for a price of 250 euros approximately.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were faced with an impressive security service. It was explained that the Pope would arrive the next day and that many of his entourage was housed at the Taj which explained the presence of armed police in the establishment. Our floor was where the majority of Cardinals and other people in the vatican had their rooms. Hallways were filled with guard body and security service which has commandeered loudly. Our room was facing the stage where the Pope would give his mass.
Hell would certainly be the word suited to explain the consequences of our stay in hotel:
-1 — cannot sleep because the sound of the show has been set for virtually all night: religious chants broadcast by huge speakers that spewed a horrible sounds.
-2 — From 4 o'clock in the morning, our floor was abuzz because everyone was going to welcome the Pope at the airport, huge noise in the corridors
-3 — Forced to leave the hotel at 8 o'clock in the morning because the building and its adjacent streets was completely sealed off by the police, impossible to enter or leave the area by car. Nobody informed us of this problem, it's our driver who called us to let know us. We arrived at 9: 00 at the airport for take-off at 14:00.
When we left we explained we were extremely unhappy, that the hotel would have to warn us. MANAGEMENT advised us, that he was not responsible.
We found this particularly despicable attitude. The TAJ SAMUDRA knew perfectly well that there were problems during these two days and made the decision not to warn its customers.
When our reservation, the hotel should have reported these special conditions.
When we arrived, the receptionist could at least we advise to take a room on the back of the hotel that is less exposed to the noise and we positioned on a floor that is less noisy.
No apology on the part of the hotel.
No compensation.
We were shocked about the attitude of this Director who showed no compassion.
This is unacceptable in a hotel of this class.
