Nice place with calm & quiet surroundings. Tasty food with friendly staff but they have a awful pool guard who may spoil your stay as he did to me. He has no manners & doesn’t know how to speak to the guests. He tries to make females dress up in bikini to use the pool, which has no sense as bikini is not the only swim suit type available & we aren’t there to fulfill his personal interests. Truly it was a nice hotel but one stupid may spoil it all. MANAGEMENT, you better train your pool guard how to treat the guests. He may be outsourced but the black marks he create will damage the good name of your hotel.

We were at Rajarata hotel last weekend for 2 nights. From moment we checked in till we checked out we were truly treated as Royals. The staff was very friendly, supportive and helpful and never hesitate to assist us when needed. The specious family room which we were in was very clean with all modern facilities and a beautiful balcony over looking the pool and the lake near by. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Thank you Rajarata for making our stay memorable and highly recommend this hotel to any one who visit Anuradhapura.

We visited Anuradhapura to celebrate our kid's birthday. We spent Rajarata hotel 2 days. Actually they provided us a delightful hospitality there. Such a friendly service. We didn't really expect but they surprised us with a morning birthday cake for our kid and with delicious box of chocolates. My kid was really enjoyed during our stay. This is one of the best hotel in Anuradhapura city. The room was very, very clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and seemed to genuinely care. 24 hours quick response. We definitely visit this hotel again. And very special thanks for Mr. Jagath & Mr. Danura.

The hotel is in the heart of Anuradhapura, there is a beautiful lake next to it. The Rooms are very comfortable and very huge, the pool, the bar and the resto is amazing!
I highly recommend this hotel and you will truly experience the Srilankan Authenticity and Hospitality!

I can only recommend this hotel. Quiet, clean place, nice rooms, perfect swimming pool. Above all I want to emphasise the experienced, friendly and helpful staff who really care about clients.

Absolutly no value for money. Buffet with very limited options also food not taste good. We went to the hotel at 3 pm but still the room was not ready (check in time is 2 pm). Room is quite spacious but bathroom is very small. The TV was positioned closer to the ceiling . Only plus point is freindly staff.

Fantastic place to stay in Anuradhapura. Its really lovely and calm place to stay in pooja city. Front office to restaurant all the staff members are kind and supportive. Foods are delicious… We enjoyed very well. All the new technologies are used to maintain the hotel.

I got free bread and butter basket and a French drive plate for children. Waiter said that's from the chef. Delicious foods. Friendly service. When I pay the bill I found that taxes not include in price list and it is about 25%. Nice garden with the pool plus baby pool. At the entrance there is a car park which sufficient. Next to the restaurant the AC bar may refresh your mind with background music.

Beautiful hotel with all the amenities. When I entered the sheets were musty so I called the staff & they right away provided new linen. Buffet and set menu are both awesome. Staff is excellent with their service and everything is clean & neat.

Best place to stay at Anuradhapura while you visiting to historical sites. Very nearby to atamsthana temples hotels gives relaxing and clam experience to visitors. Evening time at Pool is grate and don’t miss to visit near by lake at early mornings to explore the beauty of Rajarata. Buffet is delicious with wide variety of Sri Lankan and western food. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful hotel located at Anuradhapura town at the Rowing club road, around 1.5 km away from the city centre. Rajarat hotel is well maintained and clean. It has a beautiful landscaped back yard. Staff is friendly. Specially the manager is really keen on providing the best customer service. Meals are tasty and not costly.

One of the great hotels. Located at a convenient place and easy to reach. From reception good service. We wanted to change some rooms and they did without a problem. Food was good and tasty at the buffet. Facilities I'm the rooms are also very good. Choices for the breakfast was also good with a western and local combination.

Staff are very friendly and helped us with arranging everything for our day plans. Tuktuk to Mihintale, taxi to Wilpatu and all. Rooms are reasonably priced for its quality.

Nice location beside the Nuwara weva, beautiful surroundings. Especially the swimming pool, it’s very clean and food are amazing.

Staff warmly welcomed us when we stepped into the hotel. We were offered with a welcome drink and the formalities of the check-in process. Room was clean and had ample space and lighting. Rooms are separated with brick walls (permanent) so there were no outside noise disturbances. Has a large 6ft. Swimming pool with always on duty swimming guard. Has a bar, and the breakfast at Tranquil Restaurant I would rate as the best Sri Lankan breakfast I ever had especially due to the vast variety of selection and the action station which offers omelettes, sausages etc. Restaurant staff were attentive, helpful and welcoming. Checkout process was fast and simple. Overall a great stay at Anuradhapura.

We had a great welcome and did enjoy stay in Rajarata hotel as usual. Rated as excellent. Great place, every staff in the hotel is very courteous, helping, smiling and ready to help and assist. Good food. We will definitely visit again.

This hotel was booked on our behalf by a tour operator who presented it to us as a standard category… Bah it's really not bad at all then! Simple but clean room and very broadly at the height of our expectations and the pool is very good also… Moreover for the moment it is very quiet and it is so much better after more than 20h of journey from Paris between the different flights, connections and taxis!

It’s rooms were big and there was a restaurant and the rooms had a good washroom. Has 2 swimming pools. And there is a simple car park at the hotel.

Bathroom shower drained water slowly. Not great plumbing. Other than that really good hotel with nice staff and great room.

Conveniently located, not so far from the eight sacred places (අටමස්ථානය). Staff is welcoming, friendly and provided an efficient service. Decent range of delicacies for the buffet. Fairly spacious rooms and the pool is well maintained and properly scaled. Overall, the experience is absolutely worth the cost. Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the sacred city. Highly recommended.

Very noisy rooms as the corridors seem to act like a soundbox and any conversation at reception can be heard in your room. Food is hot but bland — staff try hard but management need to spend a night in their own rooms to understand how bad it is being a guest!

We were here for one night. Food quality and service standards are very high. There was a small mishap during my stay, but they refunded me for that and went out of their way to try and rectify the situation. Overall, we were happy and will definitely be returning.

Requested for Full Payment at Check-in. Explained to the staff that I had stayed in the Hotel on 2 previous occasions and did not do so then. Since they demanded, I had to pay the balance for the room charges upfront. May I suggest a 50% would be a more Civilised request or if they insist, the Customer be informed beforehand of this unfriendly requirements (may be at the time Booking is Confirmed) so that Customer will not feel a Rogue or a Crook when checking-in.

Except for these few points Im going to mention below, I must say the stay there was great and worth recalling as a wonderful memory… 1. Definitely you should provide a proper, absorbent door mat at the washroom. Atleast for the local guests who use the wet bathrooms. That towel is good for nothing and so is that "preaching tag" hung on the door lock.
I had a really tough time with cleaning with 2 toddlers 41/2 and 21/2 yrs. 2. Pls keep a broom somewhere outside the rooms so that a guest can use it whenever needed, without always troubling the room service.
Again very helpful for guests with small kids.
(I personally dont mind cleaning my own dirt. ) 3. Pls keep a small tube of toothpaste in the washroom. We had to use that of Hotel Blue waters, (we got during our stay there, last year) which was luckily still there in our traveling bag! 4. The commode was moving! Room 2_ _. 5. Certain dishes were not refilled even at 9.50am, despite repeated request. (The b/f was supposed to run till 7-10am. ) 5. Pls keep atleast 3 soft drinks (buddy bottles), and some chocolates (Mars, Sneakers and Kitkats) in the mini bar.
You can charge for them after the checkout process is completed.
Thats really helpful for the "podi badaginna"!
Again specially when you are with kids. We will visit you again. Hope atleast some of these in action by then.

It was really a great experience we had at rajarata, friendly staff, tasty food and excellent hospitality… always recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to have a nice and cozy environmental freedom in a hotel… one point to consider… as we stayed in a family room on the top floor near the entrance there were many disturbances by the tourists and guides… please consider moving parking to elsewhere to minimize sleeping guests at 2:00am other than that excellent… ++ also change location of the TV as said by another reviewer,.

The owners of this place clearly put a lot of thought into the details when building it out. The big things are there: the room had a nice patio, Good showers, comfy beds, good HVAC, the food was good, and the staff were extremely helpful. The tiny details are what make this place delightful though: toothbrushes and shaving kits, a business-grade Wi-Fi system (Ubiquiti UniFi APs), Bathroom slippers, business-grade Cisco phones in the rooms, a "smart" TV system, and a TIMED room key power system. My stay at Rajarata was very pleasant, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

This hotel was a bit of surprise. It was clean, with basic facilities, but worthy enough. Breakfast and dinner were standard, but ok. Rooms were clean, tidy and quiet.

Clean and relatively newly renovated. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Good food, primarily Sri Lankan quisine. Continental and Sri Lankan breakfast. Close to the historic sites. Parking available. For those who look for ethical travel, the staff I spoke with expressed satisfaction with their employer in private. Always a good thing to see…

5 star service at a 3 star hotel. This small hotel is a great place to stay at Anuradhapura. My previous experinces in Anuradhapura hotels were not good. But this hotel is great in every aspect. I didnt expect much from this 3 star hotel but they exceeded my expectations Front office guy was really nice and helpfull. The hotel manger is so polite. They have a decent breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean and new. The lawns are well kept and garden is well maintained. Walking distance to Thissawewa. The only downturn is this hotel doesnt have a good view of the Thissawewa fro the hotel.

It is barely acceptable for a one night Passover. The AC in the room does not work correctly. There is a bad smell in the bathroom. The restaurant is very moribund with no windows and a bad food selection. On the positive side, the staff is friendly, the pool is good and the room is clean.

Hotel hall and room was clean. The breakfast was great but the dinner was not really good. Disturbing outside noises at mid-night due to other hotel constructions next to this hotel.

We were there last night and today, really awesome place the dinner was super last night, and specially they have a good variety for vegetarians. The staff was really kind and helpful for us. Overall had a wonderful stay at that hotel.

Hotel is quite good. The location on the Lake may be a mosquito infestation in the hotel.

We were there last 22 September night. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms and linen are clean. We had our dinner and breakfast (buffet) its tasty and nice. I am with my family and with my sister and her husband, we used one triple and one double rooms. We all are happy that stay. Its a nice place.

We had a terrible time at Rajarata Hotel. I went there with my family and obtained two rooms. Air Con in both rooms were not properly working. Our baby was sweating throughout the night. The hotel has put an auto-off feature, so the Air Con gets switched off automatically. After several complaints in the mid night, hotel corrected the issue in the room we stayed. But, our parents informed next day, their room had the same issue throughout the night. Also, the televisions were not working properly on both rooms. The rooms on the ground floor were full of mosquitoes. When asked we were given a room in the first floor. It also had lot of mosquitoes. On a plus side, the staff were friendly and food was good.
