We arrived to an empty and locked up hotel, and after ringing the phone number on the door were informed that we were the only guests, and that someone would be there soon to let us in. A bit of a strange start, but boy was it worth waiting for! The hotel itself is stunningly designed — understated and sumptuous at the same time, with artwork from local artists in every corner. The building has been beautifully renovated, with a perfect combination of ancient and new, and has detail everywhere you look, without ever feeling cluttered. Our room, Olivera, was reached through the wonderful courtyard, past the plunge pool and above the breakfast room. It was large, clean, beautifully furnished and very, very comfortable with a grand bed and excellent mattress. We also had our own large balcony overlooking the courtyard (on which we star gazed that night). After a meal out in Santanyi square, which is only metres from the front door of the hotel, we settled down to a very relaxing sleep, after which came the most remarkable breakfast I have ever had. Even though we were the only guests, we were treated to a table full of the most beautifully presented fresh local produce, in a stunning breakfast room — the old stables apparently — with more artwork and luxury furnishings. I'd go back to the hotel purely for that breakfast experience, but add to it the quality of the room and the communal areas of the hotel, plus its fantastic position right in the centre of Santanyi — one of our favourite Mallorcian towns — and it will be on our itinerary for a long time to come. I simply can not recommend this place enough.
