Review of Apartamentos Sol Romántica 3*

We have just stayed at Sol Romantica for 8 nights. We had a top floor apartment which had one bedroom, a bathroom and a large living room with kitchenette. The furniture was all sound and useable. A small flat screen TV was there if you wanted it in the living room. Everything was clean and we were very happy with the apartment. The pool was very nice and the restaurant serves nice food. The staff were all very nice too. You might wonder why I have rated it only three stars with all these good comments, well for good reason. Many reviews comment that it's a nice quiet place to go on holiday, but for the dates we just spent (10th to the 18th of August) with the hotel, things were quite different. The pool and restaurant area are "open to bookings". This means anyone can book a party and come use the pool and restaurant. This happened almost every day whilst we stayed at Sol Romantica and ranged from 10 to 15 locals right up to 25 to 30 locals all with their kids (who filled the pool up nicely). One day there were so many people, we waited until 5:15 in the afternoon to go in the pool as there were so many kids in there! As the week went on I think the phrase "This is getting a bit wearing" was spoken between us! I understand that the owners can make quite a bit of money out of bookings, but it really did taint our holiday. So let's move onto the holiday complex opposite Sol Romantica. Let's be clear this is out of Sol Romantica's control, so it's not their fault, but you will have to live through it so I'll mention it. We were situated near the hotels reception and with no air con in the apartment, we had all the windows open all of the time as it is so hot. Between 7:30 and 8:00am for an hour onwards every day you will have a grounds keeper using a petrol leaf blower to wake you and everyone else up in the opposite holiday complex. I fancied a relax and lye in on my holiday, but he disagrees I think as it was every day. I even saw him take a leaf off a wall and put it on the floor to blow about as there was nothing to blow about. After all, he'd only done it all the day before and every day before that too. Pointless and really annoying! On some evenings the complex opposite will play really loud music untill late at night. Bear in mind you will want your windows open as it's so hot. So let's just say Sol Romantica didn't feel like a relaxing unwind for us, more of a suprise after reading lots of reviews on Google. Maybe things have changed since other reviewers have posted, but this is what we have just experienced. Hope this helps you make your choice.
