You can't walk many, many, many street vendors, gypsy asking for money, people living in the doors of the business, etc… That deslucen the place and not want more one to go away any time soon. It is a must to get to know Madrid and other attractions. I do not happened anything, but I have noticed that it is a zone of pickpockets by the millonada of people passing the place. In the surroundings there are all the shops of brands, Zara, El Corte Inglés, souvenir shops, etc.

For starters, the metro getting there was so easy, I couldn't believe it! As for the place itself was very touristy. You can take that how ever you'd like but it was kind of cool seeing people from different places in Spain and also around the world. One thing I have to say about this place is that you cannot be shy and you have to love to dance. There is so much going on it is hard to wrap your head around. If you are looking for a more Spanish cultural experience, I'd recommend traveling outside of Sol. Just outside Sol there are a lot of shopping spots. I was there for three nights and I could not complain. It was a great time!

The square is lively, but beware of pickpockets. Especially on weekends, when watching street entertainers or walking alone on the road.

Must see plaza in Madrid (New Year celebrated here in a big way). Good transport hub with access to metro and cercancias and buses. Lots of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels. Close to historic part of Madrid La Latina quarter which is well worth a stroll around.

The nucleus of all commercial and touristic activities en Madrid capital. The six major highways that cover the whole regions of Spain originates or count their kilometre distance from Puerta de Sol. There is a 24 hour live here. Major shopping malls close at 22:00h but other smaller shops, bars and restaurants are open all through the night. There is good security here as can police on foot, on horseback, cars stroll the streets up and down. Anyone visiting Madrid without stopping at Puerta del Sol is like he/she never visited Madrid. There is where the action and fun starts and ends.

The Life centre of Madrid. Square with strange shape but of great charm and involvement. In the daytime you can take advantage of the many shops and locals overlooking the square, in the evening, becomes the destination of the stroller and often organized shows of various types. The only downside is the sellers of sodas, flowers and other bullshit of the kind that insistently propose their merchandise. But other than that livable and enjoyable.

It's a very central spot. Great metro connections and you'll have to come here to go to many restaurants or clubs. Other than thats good to visit one es and move away, it doesn't have any inherent touristic attraction otter than the picture with the bear. Do visit but move along quickly.

This mythical square in Madrid, I have always liked, is the nerve centre of the city, from where you can enjoy interesting places, especially in regard to entertainment, shopping, accommodation, transportation… for several years in a row that I visit for family reasons, training or simply because it is not far from my place of residence and I like to be her. From this square begins the whole of Madrid! It will take weeks 2-3 to master the whole old town with its delightful architecture.

It's at the heart of Madrid (mile marker 0) and it shows. Always busy no matter what time of day or night (ok, it quietens down around 2am) and is full of tourists and hawkers, with street acts coming out in the evening. Sol is the main metro station and takes you to many other locations. To the north are avenues taking you past food shops, boutiques, and niche stores towards Grand Via. To the south are roads taking you to a mix of cosmopolitan and refurbished stores.

Just a subway station square. No big deal about it. Far more interesting places to see in Madrid. You will probably end up passing by cause all traffic goes through it.

One of my favorite areas in Madrid. There are many incredible restaurants in this area. The one I've been to was a traditional Spanish restaurant, and I still taste the delicious original Paella in my mouth.

The literal center of the city of Madrid which there is a 0.0 km sign to indicste. The metro line here houses most of the main lines. Going down and of the numerous streets that connect here will lead to various shops and restaurants. The plaza itself is pretty generic with a fountain in the middle and numerous benches for seating.

All the time we were there the park was filled with protesters. They made it a camp. But they were friendly and in fact it was an interesting place to walk through. A few places did not smell so good though…

This is a huge square with loads of tapas bars and restaurants souvenir shops sweet shops and many more delightful shops. As u walk out the square u walk between all these small walkways which lead u to more shops and tapas bars. A true delight and entertaining. In the main plaza u have various artists performing what they good at etc. A real must place to visit.

In the square you will find the sculpture of the bear and the strawberry symbol and sign of Madrid. Also the KM 0 of the radial roads of Spain. From it the famous retransmissions of the New Year's chimes are made. You can reach by Metro and commuter train as you have a station in the same square. In the vicinity you will find numerous restaurants, I recommend you to taste the potatoes and tortillas bravas.

Place par excellence for the tourism of Madrid along with the Plaza Mayor. A good enclave to have an ice cream. It tends to be very crowded on the weekends. Housekeeping is sometimes deficient.

Puerta del Sol is a landmark of Madrid pedestrianised in large part where you find the center of Life in Madrid from the tourist to the autochthonous passes through this huge and crowded square. Last visit : 08/2014 I loved this place, it is located in the heart of Madrid, the atmosphere there is great at night, it might get crowded at times. You can call it the Times Square of Europe. It's close to the metro, and is of a walking distance to many major tourist attractions in Madrid in addition to shops, restaurants and cafes.

The Puerta del Sol is always worth a visit. It is full, noisy and teeming with pickpockets, but it belongs to the Madrid trip;-).
In the surrounding area are all the "important" shops, the Apple Store included.

What can I say? It's the geographical centre of one of Europe's greatest nations! Short on pick-pockets and well stocked on shops, stores and all sorts of places to spend your cash (except eateries — try the adjacent streets for that). There are metro lines (1, 2 & 3) running under the square and a local line too, which makes it very well connected to pretty much everywhere in Madrid. Great place for a 30 minute visit, tops.

People without end, here we go, if you want in the proverbial city, in almost all directions. Of course there are also the usual tourist jugglers who stand still, have sparkling costumes or dance something, but in the core with a nice atmosphere.
