Our room was spacious and beautiful. The hotel was centrally located near attractions, restaurants, shopping, and bars. Lovely!

Excellent attention as well as location and super recommended the terrace and meeting room to do a training.

We have been several times in this hotel and all d 10. Last time we booked a premium double room and were given a suite. 100%100 recommended, attention d staff, location, cleanliness and unbeatable room.

Times must be tough. Never in all our travels have we stayed at a hotel where management decides to shut down the building’s air conditioning because summer is over. We’re advised to open our window, which is all well and good except that we’re in the main street of Madrid and it’s more than just a little bit noisy. Sorry but it’s unacceptable and I’d advise anyone planning a visit to Madrid to avoid your hotel.

Great hotel. Service was fantastic. People were friendly and food was good… along with the drinks. Room nice and big and very clean.

Terrible. And still have one more night of our two night stay to go. Rude welcome at reception. Toilet flush then stopped working three times. Every time we needed the toilet we had to go down 8 floors to reception (would've booked a hostel if I wanted a shared bathroom). No initial apology and we had to force a change of rooms. The replacement room we've been given is a smoking room with a sickly stench despite our booking specifying non-smoking. For this level of inconvenience I would generally expect a discount or complimentary drink but instead got a shallow sorry as we walked away with our new room keys. Good location and roof terrace is nice although very over priced so take your own water up.

This a well located hotel. Clean. The staff were very helpful. Before arriving I made arrangements for there to be wine and flowers in the room upon check-in as a surprise for my fiance. They even printed out a card. I wanted a specific room with a view and was told it was a superior room and would cost more. Decided not to spend the extra money but in the end got a room next to it with the same view for no extra charge. The rooftop bar is cool.

The hotel is very good located. Rooms smell smoking eventhough it's "no smoking" rooms. We had 2 interconnected rooms. Bed in dohble room is way too small. Hardly for 1 adult to be comfortable. The hotel needs renovation. The pool on top is akways fool up with people who look arruving to Madrid just laying near the pool. In the pool people are staying by groups, so you can't really swim. So just drunk people everywhere. As there is a bar. The idea to choose this hotel because of pool was wrong.

Very nice hotel with professional and helpful staff, but the real attraction is the rooftop pool and bar. The hotel is a bit traditional with heavy use of marble and thick wooden furniture. Rooms are quite large, but the combined bathtub/shower feels very narrow although the bathroom is large. Breakfast is slightly better than other Spanish hotels I've tried with decent selections of English style breakfast but with fresh fruit and cereal options. Unless you have a suite there's no view from the room so be aware. Upstairs you'll have access to the pool area which is very nice but attracts a certain type of crowd. They play lounge music and have bar service, but it's not a trendy crowd. Overall, the hotel is good and located close to different metro lines and near many food options.

Just back from a short two night trip to Madrid, stayyst Hotel Emperador. We’ve stayed here five years ago on our first visit to Madrid & although we liked it there were a few things in need of improvement.
Our stay this time was so much better. The staff were very pleasant & helpful, the bedroom although small, was very clean & had good wardrobe space. But by far, the best thing about the hotel is the roof top bar & pool area. Completely refurbished from the last time we stayed, all furnished & decorated in white Moët & Chandon, great cocktails, food & staff that couldn’t do enough for you. The rooftop bar stays open till 2am & the atmosphere is great!

Interior room means a dark prison, be careful when booking. Good points: position, safe, Wi-Fi, terrace with swimming pool. But unfortunately a dark room facing a horrible wall has ruined my holiday. I like to spend few hours on the bed surfing the net with my computer but not in a room in the dark. You go to the sunny Madrid to stay in a dark room. I complained and they told me was my fault because I have chosen an interior room I didn't know interior means a dark room with no natural lights facing a horrendous wall. But guess what? On the booking when choosing the room there was a photo of a different room with an amazing sun light coming from the window. Very misleading. A Total rip off.

Spent 3 nights at the Hotel and it was great! Very traditional in decor, but clean and tidy and everything you would need! Staff helpful and friendly. Roof top pool was perfect, views were amazing! We drank in the lobby bar when we arrived but not the pool bar/lobby bar again as we were too busy exploring Madrid! Didn’t try breakfast either for this reason. Would I stay here again? Yes I would! Thanks Emperador for a lovely stay.

Tiny room (hardly any space to turn around) dust and not very clean carpet. Small bed (not sure how old, but defintely not new). Old bathroom. All this with a view to a wall. Very disappointing!

I stayed here in May with 9 friends for my hen weekend. Absolutely fabulous hotel, prime location for shops & bars, rooms were comfortable & silent at night, but the absolute highlight for us was the roof top pool & bar. The cocktails were amazing, especially the Espresso Martini which was the best I’ve ever had! Staff were all really friendly. I will definitely stay here again should I return to Madrid.

Very well located hotel, a little old attitude of the staff very variable the food in the lounge is limited to peanuts and crisps, drinks varied.

I recommend for short stay only, the comfort leaves to be desired.
We booked a room that was not the one we had, quite small bathroom, stains on the carpet, very small room. Seen on a course overlooking other room…
Poor insulation we were disturbed by the neighbors with a child, I don't tell you the nightmare. Very old room.
The only positive points in my opinion; The terrace on the roof, as well as the friendliness of the staff.
I will not come back to sleep, it is safe.

I found myself very well. Very clean and personal place to height and very cozy.

Excellent tourist and gastronomic location. There are also many shopping malls, theatres and cinemas nearby. It has a very good bar on the terrace, Q opens until 02:00. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

It's the second time that we have stayed at this hotel. Centrally located and very comfortable with a rooftop pool and bar.

Small single rooms, some with a window to the light shaft. Toilet flushing was permanent and would not be repaired despite complaints.

Refurbished in 2006¿ The refurb is already looking dated. The room was comfortable enough with a kettle, unusual for a Spanish hotel, but linden tea? Staff were great, breakfast was overwhelmingly various. We couldn't get into the terrace as it's not open every day. This is a conference hotel in a capital city. Next door to the metro and on a main Street. The tourist bus passes every 8 minutes. Madrid's a good trip.

Location: 10 Central Cleanliness: 10 is a very old hotel with carpets everywhere and carpeting on the floor of the room, to my personally that I do not like the hotel of "the glare" and do not see it very hygienic.
But the important location, cleanliness in general and treatment of the staff a 10 to all, their workers are professional, friendly and correct.
I'd be happy to come back.

Good hotel in Madrid in the centre. Recommended.

Excellent. I went for the first time in 1989. Before remodeling. It is a lovely place and in a Privelegioada location. The attention is excellent. Its staff is very nice. Hygiene is optimal. The rooms are very comfortable. The hotel has all the services.
The last one put this pool. It has bar and it is very nice.

We went for a drink on the terrace. All very nice and very clean. Very good service and good views from the terrace. We ordered a few combined and very rich and very well prepared and presented. The prices are a bit high. €15 each. Although the drinks and service are quality.

Excellent Hotel in the heart of the city. Well-attended, modern rooms and very careful in general.
If I have to look for a paste is the size of some of the stays, something logical in the center where the square meter is worth so much.
The terrace is a classic in Madrid with a swimming pool that in summer is a delight.

Hotel on the Gran Via… in the central area.
It is very convenient both to walk around the city, which I recommend, both for those who want to move by Metro.
Rooms a little bit retro but very spacious.
Cleanliness excellent breakfast, although I find that if you want a cappuccino or espresso you have to pay €2… with a price from €150 per night x 2, they could quietly it instead of selling a pot of American coffee that has nothing of coffee, it looks hot and dirty water!

A jewel in the gran via of Madrid today we have visited the terrace of the hotel Emperador and it is really great! A perfect location to see the whole city from a truly emblematic building! Waiting for the décor, it's modern but very cozy. The bartenders are super friendly and help you choose among the varied cocktails of the menu. But the best, no doubt, is to take your drink enjoying the sunset watching, literally, all Madrid. Nothing to do with the succinct hotel terraces, it's big, spacious, unique! I recommend it! Attached some photos that we took just when we arrived (16:00), then began to fill with people, but without stress.

Very good hotel. It has a pool on the terrace with an amazing view to the city. Comfortable and fully equipped rooms. It is old style but very well maintained.

I stayed for a week and the location could not be better to enjoy Madrid. The room is comfortable but a little outdated decor. The breakfast was very good. But definitely don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful pool on the top floor and the views 360 °

A nice hotel, though stuffy. The staff in the lobby are competent but not friendly. English was spoken reasonably well throughout. The rooms are nice, though again, stuffy. The real highlight is the rooftop bar, which is restricted to hotel guests and has exceptional views of the city. Prices are reasonable, too.

The hotel is very nice. Good attention. Excellent location. Next to the subway to get everywhere quickly and on the Gran Via. You walk out of the hotel and you start walking.

Very good location in the middle of Madrid. No parking. The rooms are. The perfect service.

Staff were excellent, location good, but Aircon disabled and only blowing hot air left the rooms far too hot to sleep in. Only possibility was to open windows which meant listening to traffic and sirens and partying till the small hours. Rooms were adequate with an odd lighting setup that took time to figure out in the dark. Breakfast was adequate continental, nothing great to say. Madrid itself had some outstanding tapas places in walking distance which should be no surprise.

I had a great experience at the Hotel Emperador! The pool on the 10th floor had amazing views and the room was clean and roomy. Overall great experience! I'll definitely stay here again when I return to Spain! It's in a great location so it's easy to walk to several nearby attractions.

A wonderful hotel. The Hotel Emperado was located on Grand Via and a short walk to the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. The rooftop pool was incredible — a great way to relax after a lot of walking throughout the city and great views. Hotel staff was fantastic — willing to help make reservations at local restaurants.

Fantastic pool. Great location. Large rooms, but the air conditioning in two rooms we had caused them to smell quite old and stuff.

The biggest advantage this hotel is that it is on Gran Via, one of the best possible location for tourists. Apart from that, everything else about the hotel screams average. The moment you enter via the revolving doors, you are greeted with a tastefully decorated lobby with many cozy sofa's. The staff is just okay, I have met a lot more hospitable staff before. Rooms: They are super tiny and most of them do not face the main street. Everything inside was dated and could certainly do with an upgrade. The floor lobby will certainly make you feel claustrophobic. Food: The breakfast buffet was just okay, nothing special about it. Amenities: The swimming pool and terrace area was closed when I had visited, so cannot comment on those. Considering the cost, there are better hotels in the area that are more value for money.

Location was brilliant, asked for a higher floor as very central. Slept really well, no noise, black out curtains and great mattresses. Staff were very helpful as we almost missed breakfast (as we slept so well), had 10mins to spare so they bought it to our room. Beautiful roof top pool with music and waitress at service. We just spent 3 nights at the Emperador: a stylish, older, big hotel. Very central-great location.
The roof terrace and pool is certainly the jewel of the hotel, ideal to relax and sip a drink (cocktails rather expensive…), great view! Staff very friendly, breakfast tasty, room quiet (overlooking the courtyard), lift rather in continuous operation and often already full. The bathroom is large but the bidet superfluous and really hindering when exiting from the shower/bathtub.

For two years I stay at this hotel from time to time. A modern hotel, with a great interior, a great breakfast: both in terms of variety and in terms of service.

The is THE worst hotel I have ever stayed. I don't normally write reviews but after the experience I've had I would have appreciated it if others had warned me before I booked this hotel it's ruined my trip to Madrid which I was really looking forward to. Firstly don't be fooled by the pool it's literally half the size what it looks like in the photos and so grotty and dirty. The beach beds look about 10 nears old, there is green 'carpet' around the pool area which I guess is meant to look like grass?! — well it has holes in it and is worn out. The whole place could do with a clean it's disgusting. The room itself looks like it's from the dinosaur ages — it's very old, shabby, the bed looks like something you'd buy from gumtree that's been sold and re-sold 100 times, it's pretty gross. Then there's the internet situation — you'd think a hotel in the winter of Madrid would offer Wi-Fi — well yes they do at a charge of €12/ day and it's super slow so apart from checking emails don't even bother if you need to do anything else. I paid the €12 as I also need to do some work whilst I'm here, only to find out that you can only use the Internet on 2 devices so once it linked up my iPhone and laptop that was my limit done. So my partner then had to also pay another €12 to link his laptop and phone to the Wi-Fi — absolutely ridiculous!

Classic Hotel, pool and bar overlooking Gran Via.

Breakfast with everything you need, different juices to choose from, milk, coffee, toast, rolls, cold cuts, cereals. A charming, cosy hotel and you're comfortable. I gave it for the birthday was a surprise, and my partner came out very pleased, telling me that very good choice and which recommend it without a doubt, so no more you can ask.

I really liked in all aspects. We thought it was very good the staff very familiar and resolved problems with great brevity. Excellent location, very well preserved and clean, recommend it.

Hotel with superb location, this famous hotel in alaska and mario, married and soon will go to ask budget with good ideas collected from other reviews. With a varied environment, collect from the vintage to the most absolute modernity. The only drawback is its price, but everything else makes up for it.

Hotel not know le in terms of rooms but I recommend to visit the spa, it is not necessary to have room, you can go wherever within the established business hours and have a circuit with many varieties, sauna, Turkish bath. And it is very economical to be located in the Centre of Madrid and for the duration of this circuit gives you time to enjoy everything perfectly and spend a day of unforgettable relaxation.

The Emperor hotel's spa is very well and there are a few offers on the internet that are worth much. If you have to put some sticks that support children at certain times and is a little noisy. Moreover Central well connected and with a relationship quality price very good. I recommend it for everyone but there are better options in madrid for spa.

I ¨ve been at El Emperador again last May, and they upgraded me to a Corner suite, great views of Gran Via Ave.! The roof top pool was open too, though the weather was not as good as I expected for the last days of May, it was great having a drink, the views of the Royal Palace a t. O. P.

We could even see television in Italian (which not all hotels allow abroad), so sensational!
The prices then ultra reasonable. I highly recommend it to everyone.

FoxyDee 31st July 2011 Just returned from spending three wonderful nights in Madrid and this hotel. The reception staff were very helpful and polite; yes rooms were a bit disappointing as no tea/coffee making facility but not a bad thing as made us, went with three friends, get up and go out and explore, there was no view but that said if there was a view it would have been off the Gran Via which is a busy road and could have been difficult to sleep with noise. The roof terrace was good, pool area very clean and staff in general excellent. We received free bottles of champagne in our rooms, allowed to stay in room beyond normal checkout time at no additional cost — would not necessarily get that in the UK! I would recommend hotel for its location, friendly staff and exceptional value for money.

Just returnesd from a 3 nite stay in this hotel, the location is fantastic but the hotel is shocking, we booked a double room and got a single after a little fight and 30 minutes I got what I booked, the room had a lovelyview for a wall with dirty drain pipes on it, the room was small, grubby and old looking, to top it off reception gave our room out to another couple who walked in on my misses and scared the crap out of her then we got locked out of our room. The staff werent helpful and fairly rude and im sure they they hadnt a clue what was goin on themselves because anything they where asked the reply was I dont know (should be their logo) all in all with the execption of the location and a helpful english speking receptioist id give this place a miss espically for the price.

The staff were unhelpful and even rude, the kind of service I wouldn't complain about in a 2 star hotel. Anything apart from sleeping cost money. Even double rooms are small and with a view to some dirty pipes. Extortionate price for using Wifi, breakfast was ridiculously priced and not very good, ironing a shirt cost €10. There were no towels in the room when I arrived and the shower would flood with water. When I pay £200 a night for a hotel I expect things to be easier and better handled.
