We had an excellent stay at Room Mate Pau hotel. The funky decor is not for everyone, but I loved it. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and spoke English fluently. I was upgraded to a larger room upon check-in free of charge, and there were no surprise charges on my bill at check-out. I particularly appreciated that our room was very QUIET — I almost never heard another guest from our room. The Wi-Fi was free and worked extremely well (I watched a video livestream for about an hour one night with no issues). We did not use housekeeping services during our stay so I cannot speak to that, but our room was very clean and well-presented upon check-in. As others have noted, the location is excellent — walkable to many of the city's most popular tourist destinations. I felt the price was also quite reasonable. If you are, like I was, an American traveling internationally for the first time, this is a fabulous place to stay and here are a few things that are useful to know: — Bring your own washcloth (I learned these are typically not provided in European hotels) ; hand towels and bath sheets were provided. — As is apparently common in European hotels, the room's power (for lights, outlets, the air conditioning) requires you to insert your key into a slot by the door. (Let's not talk about the embarrassingly long amount of time it took me to figure that out.

Well located for tourists being just a few yards from Catalunya square where airport bus terminates and the tourist bus starts. No frills modest and modern style but comfortable with good service. Would use again.

Clean, comfortable room, nice central location, reasonable price for the quality. Love the weird modern design touches. Needs a couple of coat/towel hooks on the wall of the room, I don't like showers where the towel stays inside the shower stall.

I stayed for 3 days now several years ago, but remember it was a great experience, although absolutely overpaid. The room was equipped with a really comfortable king size bed, there were, apart from air conditioning, TV etc… Also quite useless services, like a facility to listen to music. The room overlooked the main street, but you didn't hear extremely annoying noises. There was no real bathroom, but rather a "bathroom area" with a sink and two dorm of 1x1m, inside of which there were the toilet and the shower. In privacy, let's say it was all pretty ridiculous, also because having stayed with my dad, it wasn't the best.
Breakfast was not included and frankly I paid a, however it was good and buffet.
The staff were friendly, I responded in Catalan without any problems and it was always shown very helpful, although even there I paid a plus for checking out at night time.

Hyper well located… hyper clean … Top design… Just steps from the centre and the hustle and bustle of the city but once inside a haven of peace…
The suite with terrace and Jacuzzi is identical to the photos of the site… Class!

Absolutely fantastic. Cant believe its a 3 stars hotel. Everything is so organized, clean, modern. They have a really nice breakfast. We paid 10€ each for the addion of a breakfast when we booked there so. Im not sure its the best price for breakfast you can find around — but it sure does saves the headech of searching. The only thing I felt a bit disappointed about was that I wrote that we are coming over as a part of our honeymoon and they didnt have anything special to offer :-/ I guess europe is really different from asia and other romantic popular destinationa in this matter. Bottom line — location is THE BEST. Totally recommended.

We had a very lovely stay until it came time to check out. When we arrived to check in the desk staff handed us or key and told us we had been upgraded to a junior suite at no additional charge. Good deal for us, but we didn't hunk much of it as this happens every now and then, often when hotels sell out of the lower priced rooms, etc. When we went to check out, they pulled a bait and switch on us. We were informed that to check out we only had to pay for the upgrade to the junior suite. Wait what?!?!? We didn't ask for the upgrade, we weren't even given the option to upgrade, we were simply instructed that we had been upgraded and that it was free. We had a 10 minute back and forth between the desk staff in which they kept insisting that we had to pay. They ultimately did not make us pay, but with an attitude that conveyed, "whatever we'll just give it to you" instead of "oh I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. " What a scam.

Great location. Nice clean rooms. Attentive and friendly stuff! Make sure to use the free Wi-Fi in the city that they provides. I think that the beds are too soft but that is a matter of a personal taste.

I stayed 2 nights in Barcelona and honestly I couldn't have asked for a better hotel! Everything was PERFECT. The staff, the room, the service… When I first came in the room I was WOWED, by the unique architecture that is different for every room! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone : couple, family or single traveler!

Very good boutique hotel clean and tidy with excellent attention on the part of its employees very cordial. I do not give 5 stars for the cost of the breakfast, like most hotels is excessive when for a reasonable price would have increased assistance on the part of the guests.

Originality and design in the Centre of barcelona. As the whole, there is none of them disappoint. Spotlessly clean, very retailers and very friendly service. Price medium but bear in mind that the location is unbeatable.

Best of all is you are in the heart of Barcelona. Especially the reception staff who were all very kind and you helped with everything you could.
The only but that I put is that cleaning was not too, the carpet was not very well vacuumed. Otherwise great.
