Beautiful hotel in every way — the staff were so friendly both during and even after our stay when we had a several hour wait for our flight. When you go into the reception it just has this lovely smell to it (makes sense when you're there! ) and it's so relaxing. The rooftop terrace is nice — from that height you can't even tell you're situated in the middle of La Rambla. Shout out to the receptionist with bright red hair who was very kind and helpful to us. Would definitely visit again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday for 3 nights at the beginning of November. Just when walking in we were blown away with how nice it was and how friendly the staff were. We arrived at 1pm and check in isn't until 3pm, however the staff took our luggage and our phone number and called us when the room was ready. When we arrived back we went to get the key card and collect our luggage but someone had already taken all our things up to our room for us! The room its self was very well present, lovely bathroom with a hot and powerful shower and also a hairdryer and massive mirror. The bed was huge and extremally comfortable and the TV was very big. The TV is a smart TV so if you have an Android phone you can screen share onto it and watch what ever you want. We watched Netflixs on there which was a nice touch. There is also a mini fridge which is stocked with drinks. We used the fridge but bought a few items from Carfore round the corner to go in it. We decided to add on breakfast for £15 each and was very pleasantly surprised. I have found sometimes breakfasts at hotels can be very greasy and uninteresting. This was not the case here. There were hot eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and mushrooms along with a huge bakery selection, lots of different choices of ham and cheese which all were presents with nuts and fruit and also a dessert station which had tasty cake and doughnuts. Also a nice coffee machine with all different coffees to choose from.

There were 3 double-doors that opened onto beautiful views of the city. The staff are exceptional. The different areas of the hotel are romantic and interesting. The location is amazing. I love everything about 1898. My husband was in the hospital due to an accident for what was supposed to be our anniversary holiday; they were kind and thoughtful and caring and helped me through a very difficult time.

Such a beautiful hotel, with lovely historic features. The staff were all so friendly. I brought my mum here to celebrate her birthday, and they treated her to a lovely bottle of cava and delicious chocolate cake. The reception staff were very informative. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous with so much choice. We never needed lunch! And the staff at breakfast were so helpful and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean with a good selection of toiletries. The indoor heated pool was such a welcoming amenity after walking all day! The rooftop bar has great views. We had some maxing treatments in the hotel spa. Our therapists name was Irina. She was brilliant and so lovely. The hotel is in a brilliant location in La Rambla and has such elegant decor and features. I would definitely recommend this for couples and adults travelling in small groups. Just perfect!

This is a beautiful hotel. However the staff of any good hotel makes or breaks one's experience. We have found the staff here to be exemplary; from valets through front desk to restaurant servers, bartenders, room stewards… everyone has been fantastic.

Myself and my family had a weeks stay in this amazing hotel. Steeped in history it is furnished to the highest standards for all modern requirements. The beds are so comfortable we all slept like babies! Daily we were provided with new toiletries and on two occasions (one for my birthday and the other on our final morning) we were served chocolates and Cava with our breakfast in the dining room. Although somewhat expensive the breakfast is excellent — with an abundance of food that will last you well until the afternoon we opted to eat here every morning. The attention to detail by all staff is second to none. Over the years we have travelled extensively and I can honestly say the service we received during our stay was one of the best we have ever encountered. The rooftop pool and spa areas are stunning (perhaps the pools could have been a few degrees warmer) and the spa treatments excellent. I can recommend this hotel, in a prime location, to anyone who appreciates a little understated luxury. I would have no hesitation to book a return visit. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

The setting is excellent on the roof. With shady sofa. Very nice for a drink and a few tapas.

And then we were surprised by a storm so we were accompanied inside under an umbrella.
And we decided to eat at the bar on the ground floor very well decorated. But it's more expensive and less qualitative… Very disappointed with our bar plates.

Stayed at this hotel for my honeymoon and it was so luxurious and beautiful! The staff were kind and helpful. The views from around the hotel were amazing! I would definitely recommend anybody to stay here, especially if they want to be in the heart of Barcelona.

Very nice, staff very helpful. Spa pool was warm, calm, peaceful and beautiful. Room clean and beds turned down at night. Breakfast buffet is a little pricey but worth it for the experience especially if you can take the time to sit and try a little bit of everything! Wifi works well. Location is super convenient and it's an easy walk to the metro. Our room was very quiet at night. We spent 5 nights and it was a great experience!

My wife and I came to Barcelona for our honeymoon and we were recommended this hotel by a friend. We felt like we struck gold! The hotel greeted us with drinks and champagne and have gone above and beyond to look after us. The rooms are good size with a fantastic bathroom and their comfy beds are made up twice a day. The hotel staff are one of the most friendly and professional we’ve ever come across and nothing is too much for them. On the rooftop there is a fantastic rooftop pool and bar and great areas just to lounge around. Downstairs you get the feeling of a high class establishment but the hotel doesn’t feel like it’s packed out or your forgotten. We’ve been so impressed with this hotel we’ve just booked an extra night! Thanks so much to the whole team, highly recommend!

This place is incredible. From the minute we arrives to the minute we left. The spa/hydrotherapy pool is world class. The beds are so comfy. I feel like we are in heaven. The customer service is even more outstanding

Cannot fault this hotel at all. It is PERFECT! Close to a bus stop that takes you to the airport, great location, 10/15 walk to the sea, lots of restaurants, the atmosphere is incredible!
Upon arrival, the bedroom and bathroom were stunning! We couldn't believe our luck!
The staff are incredibly friendly, and they speak perfect English and Spanish. Whilst on my trip, I had to visit the hospital for treatment — and our guidebook said NOTHING about hospitals. The staff at reception gave us lots of detailed advice, for which I am incredibly thankful for.
When we returned to our room in the evening, there were delicious nutty chocolates on our beds, and fresh bottled water.
I highly recommend visiting the pool on the roof terrace, having tapas in the evening, visiting the spa/pool/sauna/gym below ground, and chilling in the foyer on the comfy sofas.
Not faults what-so-ever! Will definitely be staying again! :D.

2 Piece of plastic in my plate, that is not acceptable in a restaurant like that. I mentioned to the waitress and she went to the kitchen to ask explication. She returned apologizing telling me the in their kitchen is common the use plastic foil for packaging and that’s why happened. What really surprised me is that the waiter came back with same plate asking me if I wanted to replace the dish. Plastic in a dish, things like this cannot and not must happen in any restaurant’s kitchen, especially if is the restaurant of a “luxury hotel”

One very good hotel nice and clean very friendly staff very good location. Why just 3 stars then? Well 5 is perfect and I hardly give them. The room was to the inside yard and the spa isn’t the biggest, especially if you consider the size of the hotel. But it is a really good Hotel with really good location. And an amazing rooftop bar, so a clear recommendation!

The deluxe room one of the best room I attend in any hotel, you can control the light of the room and and have big bathroom, only problem the hotel breakfast is not that good.

We have stayed here for a 3 night trip to Barcelona for my birthday. The rooms are beautiful, bed very comfy. Beautiful shower, steaming hot shower and a huge range of products. The bar and entertainment were amazing and the views from the roof top pool and terrace stunning. We unfortunately didn’t get to try the spa as it was closed for maintenance. The only other thing I’d mention is the bath could do with a very slight touch up to go with the aesethics of the room in general. Other than that an amazing stay. If we come to Barcelona would definitely like to stay here again.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Tasteful rooms, everything your heart desires. In February it was relatively cold and the heater did not work. Early in the morning we had hot water for the morning shower, but in the evening only cold water. Pity for such a brilliant hotel…

Wonderful, polite and polite staff and ready to meet any need, the place is really well cared for and elegant with many room facilities present.

First time came in 2005, hotel seemed back then brand new. 13 years after and after numerous visits, the hotel looks the same. Super clean, discreet and easy access from la Rambla. Our junior suite was marvelous. Friendly staff. Beautiful boutique hotel. Parking is great Fabulous 5 stars hotel.

Attention to Hygiene!
During my stay I was stung by a syringe from an insulin injector left on the table (supposedly cleaned) from their restaurant. Outrageous.

I celebrated my wedding there and the deal was exquisite. All perfect, to the last detail.

Unfortunately, this hotel will immediately charge the full amount upon payment by credit card. I had paid the stay of my wife and a friend. Unfortunately, I suffered a heart attack before my wife's travel date, which then of course did not take the trip.
I'm a lot on the go on business but that in such a case no refund is already more outrageous.
For this reason I cannot recommend the hotel!

The hotel was very nice and the room was very good. The staff were very helpful. In the restaurant and in the bar you see that they are a bit overflowing and while the service is excellent being few and having too many guests going all very slow.

The hotel is in the middle of the Rambla, very central and with a good presence. We went to the presentation of a book on Childhood heart disease, and the hotel gave a free room, offered a glass of cava, a little something for children and someone came to entertain them. The very complete conference room, as a suggestion, should elevate the place where the speakers are.

Superb hotel, indoor and outdoor pool (on the roof), perfect room (we had come to celebrate a birthday, wine and mignardises offered in the room), very good restaurant and special price menu if you have a room.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Barcelona, on the most famous street of the city and the country, La Rambla. Equipped with lateral access for the disabled, it has a sober and elegant décor at the salon on the ground floor and a wonderful swimming pool on the seventh floor. Here, at dawn, you can seize the first sun that illuminates the roofs of Barcelona, the Sagrada Familia and the Cathedral.

Nice hotel and better terrace, although the Congress room I went to was a little basic, no plugs, little… The terrace brutal though a little expensive. But very recommended the coconout, the Cambreros very attentive.

Really nice hotel. The swimming pool below is usually very quiet, having a certain allure to it, especially if you'd like to some time out for yourselves. The swimming pool and bar upstairs was nice, had a great view. The classic room is just big enough for two, the bed however was freaking awesome, it wants you to slide in and cozy up. Breakfast wasn't included, however choices were pretty decent. Coffee was a little too strong for my taste, but balanced it out with a tonne of sugar. Downsides? Hmm. The Wi-Fi was a little slow, n didn't work in some places. Not enough (easily accessible) plugs to charge up electrical devices.

Just back from a 3 night stay in this hotel in the Colonial Suite. This is our second stay here and it is often said never go back to the same place for fear of disappointment. How wrong that is! We were lucky enough to have a suite with a terrace and plunge pool this time. It felt very luxurious and how this hotel is not a 5* I do not know. The hotel is perfectly located within reach of shops, culture and food. La Isabela terrace on the rooftop is fantastic if you don't have your own private pool or fancy a cocktail on a hot afternoon. Staying in this suite we received a complimentary bottle of champagne each evening-a nice touch :). The staff are friendly and helpful. There's so much to say about this place and not enough words. We will definitely be back for a third time as our son really wants to watch a Barça game in person. Can't wait!

Best hotel I have ever visited! The staff were lovely and very attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and very unique feel. Felt like royalty staying there with all the facilities they had to offer. I must recommend having a cocktail by the pool on the terrace. Definitely going back to this amazing hotel!

The rooftop restaurant has a very beautiful view. On a summer evening, it was one of the most romantic spot of the city. The burger was great, not really as expensive as you'd expect for such a Hotel.

This hotel is fantastic! I cannot list enough positives about it and would eagerly pay twice what I did to stay here again. The location is about 3 short blocks from the Catalunya metro station. Perfect as a "home base" and is a convenient distance to all the sites/quarters of Barcelona. General decor and theme of the hotel was very luxurious with a mix of brick and marble, with gorgeous polished wood throughout. There are over-sized plush leather couches in the lobby and common areas, with a hint of a nautical them in bold patterns and dark colors. I loved it. My room was spotlessly clean with crisp, white down duvets, a heavenly comfortable bed, and 1898 even offers a pillow menu. Bathrooms are equipped with luxury amenities including robes and slippers. I also had a door that opened to a small balcony and was able to let in all the fresh air and sounds of the city — it is wonderful being able to see the green trees lining La Rambla from your room. It is still quiet enough with the balcony door closed that you can get a proper night's sleep. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. They assisted with making local dinner recommendations and went, what I would consider to be, above and beyond to ensure comfort and that all my needs were met. The rooftop terrace bar is the perfect place for travelers to grab a glass of cava and some tapas. Service is also friendly and professional.

The Isabela takes its name from the essence of one of the most beautiful islands of the Philippines. LA ISABELA is the name of the terrace of the HOTEL 1898, located on Las Ramblas 109, in the Centre of Barcelona.

The terrace is the ideal place to go to have a drink in the summer nights, offers unrivalled views over the Gothic quarter and the most impressive buildings of the Sky Line from Barcelona.

Great hotel. Perfect location. You must go visit the rooftop bar while you are there. The pool is such a beautiful place as well. We had a rocky experience at another hotel in the same area the week before and it had left a bad taste in my mouth. The staff and accommodations at 1898 made up for it :-) It is a bit more expensive but if you have to choose between paying a bit extra to have a memorable trip and having a bad one then I would definitely recommend 1898.

Great location, have helped me to get tickets for a game in barcelona, very helpful in giving directions, excellent panoramic bar. My experience was even better since you make my check-out at 5:45 am and forget an ipad in the room, I realized when you arrive at another hotel in Italy, call and sent me to the address of the hotel where I was staying.

A fantastic terrace in summer with relaxation area and beds where can a drink even if you are not staying in the hotel.

A hotel in which I went down several times, and I really like.
But. A concern. These small details that make the difference in a luxury hotel, and who missed on this trip: the room still not made at 6 pm, breakfast special commands (eat a waffle, I love! ) who are no longer possible, etc. These touches or these small disappointments that can mark forever the image of a hotel. The 1898 would yield to the sirens of profitability at any price.

Stayed three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect. Central location, helpful polite staff, excellent inclusions throughout, huge well appointed room, great bed and shower. Just like being at home. The restaurant was impressive. Good menu and reasonable prices. Sadly we didn't use all the amenities on site. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying again if in Barcelona in the future.

This is a truly impressive and luxurious hotel. Great expansive lobby and bar area, perfect for meeting up for a drink before or after a night out. Attentive, gracious service everywhere in the hotel, gorgeous rooftop pool/bar/tapas, comfortable, elegant rooms with great bathrooms. I wouldn't stay anywhere else near Las Rambas.

It is a hotel but my suggestions are not to stay; on the contrary, I suggest call to go to have a coffee or a drink and enjoy the fantastic view of Barcelona. Quality of time.
