The Wild Farm Backpackers Hostel

This is a stay on the wild side. Incredible location great vibe. Spontaneous interactions chilled outdoor fire place drinks occasional live music or chilled evenings you never know but all very relaxed and chilled.

Nice venue with a view to die for. The best sunsets.

Wow. What a awesome neat and tidy, well serviced and run backpacker. Great views with a great vibe. The people looking after this place made us feel at home.

This place is a really beautiful and reasonably priced hostal. I had a great time staying here and would stay here again, but I must note that there was no hot water and the credit card machine continually failed to work. Therefore, we were forced to go into town and withdraw money at an ATM. The problem with the card reader seemed to have to do with their Wi-Fi connection, which is not good.

Steer clear of this facility if you're NOT WHITE. These guys have a subtle way of making you feel unwelcome. Way too little ablution facilities. Great scenery, though!

Wonderful running, great guests in transit, Squashed up 8 bed dorm, but beautiful pick it yourself herbs, great breakfast presentation, Wi-Fi and recharging post, activities, bazbus, good walk around grounds and view is great. Splendid experience in the crisp fresh and breezy air. Beautiful weather.

Some rooms say 'family'. In my opinion there is nothing 'family' about what goes on there over weekend nights. It was unbearably loud with the party going on in the central area, so much so we left to try get some sleep at another wilderness hotel. Also, you need 4x4 capabilities if it rains persistently. I understand it's a backpackers and can get rowdy, but dont as it as 'family' then.

Definitely coming back here to amazing views and vibe. Don't worry if you have a lil car. The hill is steep going but doable.

The worst bed I have ever experienced in my life. It was so sprung it was it's own mountain range. We couldn't take it and by 4am we packed up and left, forgoing the breakfast and even our key deposit. R880 gets you a "log cabin" which is completed in concrete, a piece of which fell off the wall and hit my wife in the head in the middle of the night. There's a communal bathroom which you have to share with other cabins and dormitories. It also took them 20 minutes to find our booking, even though there are only two log cabins. It would have been hilarious if we'd had more sleep. There's a great sunset view from the bar, I'd recommend going for a beer, just don't spend the night.

We enjoyed Wild Farm for a day or two, but the inssecent blasting of Trance music proved a bit much after a while. I also got devoured by mosquitoes. Despite that, it has an incredible view and seems to be well run.

Bad roads. Bad route to camping places. Badly facilitated braai and fireplace.

We stayed there for two nights. The first one, we were the only people with the staff and benefited from a very calm environment. The second one, a (very) large group joined and we had a great time partying — the owners organize music venues a couple of time a year. I really appreciate that they notified us before we stayed/paid of the potential disturbances. The view from the place is really awesome and Wilderness is a cute town. Only rub for me is that a majority of the staff — running the place — we've met during our stay was French people volunteering. Even though it was a pleasure to speak in my language, I don't approve this way of operating.

Irie backpackers, cool people and staff. Laid back and friendly with a mutual respect between guests and staff. Great view and lekker party every now and than.

Amazing views and great place to chill out, but hard to tell who's actually working and the staff could work a little harder to make guests feel welcome.

The first room we got allocated has smelt like a kennel and that's not exaggerated! Furthermore, I have to say that on the previous day we had an extra knowledge of whether dogs are allowed in the rooms, because my girlfriend is highly allergic. The 2 room we got had a broken locking mechanism. You could open the door with your hand even though it was completed! As the first room change was annoyed, however, we did not dare to say anything. We were reminded that we were on a farm after all. This is well known to us as experienced South African travellers by name. Since we love animals, we have visited numerous farms, where there have never been any problems, since animals (cows, pigs, dogs, geese, …) were outside, but no one was allowed to take animals into the 6 m ^ 2 rooms. In addition, we have unfortunately not encountered any ' farm ' here, so this argument was a bit misleading.

I arrived late after midnight and had the privilege to experience a sunrise here next day at a really beautiful location. The facilities are nice but it is overall the laidback and relaxing atmosphere that stands out.

This place stolen my heart. The sunset and sunrise… view to the ocean, mountain and lake. And of course PEOPLE. There is shuttle twice a day which takes you down to the village if you do not have your own transport. You can also walk (aprix. 45minures) or hitchhike (safe).

Visited for a trance party on NYE. Really great place. Sunrise from the place is really nice :-)

A lovely place to stay with a fantastic view over Wilderness! Friendly staff that can help you arrange your activities during your stay.

It was a bit of a mission to actually get to the location. It involved narrow and gravel roads with a steep incline. Our car (heavily loaded Polo) struggled to get up the gravel hill. A 4x4 woudn't have any trouble though. Google maps takes you the long way around with the steep incline. Ignore Google's directions and rather go the opposite way on Whites road. Once on Whites Road, there is signage for the Wildfarm — follow it and you'll be fine. That said — Lovely views of the ocean and the lagoon. Facilities were clean. Staff were decent. Good value for money for basic accommodation. Free coffee and tea :)
