What a special place — fresh food, beautiful scenery and nature to explore, what more could you want.

Great lunch experience to kick off this year of trying new places. Venue was awesome with great service from our waitress and some of the best pork belly I've ever tasted. Clearly Rawdons take pride in what they put on the table and put in effort in maintaining the venue to its original splendor. Will have to return to try the rest of the menu, hat off to the chef! 10/10

A gem if you are lucky enough to spend a night or two there. I felt like I was at granny's House, soooo comfy and warm.
The staff are so helpful and their service the best.

We had the most wonderful getaway. Stunning rooms (we were in #24), divine food and atmosphere. So much to see and do. Thank you to the team.

Visited on Wednesday, it was a chilly rainy day on the Midlands. They had lovely fires going but that was the only nice thing about the place. Staff were unfriendly and we could only chose curry, chick or beef pie or snack basket. No Vegan food except potato samosas and spring rolls in snack basket. Told to come back at 6 pm to order from menu. Won’t see me again.

It brings back fond memories. I grew up here started my first job here.

First time there! Absolutely loved it, Romantic, Clean, good food. Most definitely be back.

Disappointing! my first time and my last. Bland pie, bad service, absent staff. Flies. The cleaning staff were in and out last out table with buckets and vacuums… very unpleasant. Won't recommend the detour.

We enjoyed the ambiance and the surroundings were pretty but the following needs urgent attention :
— Improve waiters — very unprofessional, casual, not attentive
— Not helpful on the phone when dealing with lunch booking
— Food was quite average and not cheap for what you received
— The hotel is a meander establishment and one gets the sense that standards are dropping.

Friendly and welcoming, great place to relax and have fun.

Got married here 19 years ago… we pop in when we can… great beer and great atmosphere. Will miss George who is about to retire after working at R for 60 years.

Great place to stay over at KZN Midlands. Awesome food and awesome company.

Four of us for lunch last Saturday. Christopher our waiter was humorous and very attentive. Meals were good and priced for this sort of establishment. Lovely setting. Have been there before and will definitely be back.

The most amazing curry in the midvaal. So much history and yet so beautiful and well maintained.

Always amazing to stop in at Rawdons! The fire place is always blazing and the staff are like family! Nottingham Road's pride and joy!

Worst experience EVER … we had lunch with at least 30 flies … indoors! UPDATE: Received a response from management, however, there was much more you could do to address the flies … we saw your bins overflowing and a member of staff trying to kill flies around your bins … Advising your patrons if you are aware of the problem would be a great first step. Using natural methods to reduce the numbers of flies too, such as citronella candles would be positive. It is a challenge and not a problem as you put it, that you can overcome. We only experienced the flies at your property, so perhaps seek advice from other business in the local area to see what they are doing … normally I would have walked out in a situation like this, but due to overseas guests and it being Mother’s Day, I did not.

The venue has the authentic charm of a bygone era. The Sunday roast lunches, delicious. The apple pie dessert? Not so good but the friendly service and beautiful, peaceful surroundings make up for that small disappointment today.

Tasting craft beer has always been a favorite for our family and friends so one thinks Rawdon’s Brewery is a great option. Sadly yesterday we were disappointed by the way management staff treated us. I would suggest going if you are willing to find your own seating and having the manager treat you badly. As a group of twelve people we just went to taste the beer and skipped lunch, as we were told that the kitchen could not cope. The service leaves a bad aftertaste for anyone. If there were lower stars I would give it.

We had a pleasant afternoon at Rawdons Hotel in Nottingham Road. We had a delicious lunch under the beautiful old tree. A typical sunny, autumn day. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Brilliant place to eat and the staff are very accommodating. This is the second time we have visited this place from London and we are never disappointed. The Indian gentleman was very accommodating and friendly with us Ate there yesterday for lunch. Highly recommended!

Stopped for lunch yesterday afternoon. Friendly greeting from Maitre'd, seated and offered menus.
Waitress informed us of the specials and gave us a few minutes.
Food was delightfully presented, very tasty and reasonably priced.
Lovely, observant young lady in the brewery outlet shop helped me pick a nice beer to take home. Very pleased with our experience.

The staff are efficient and very friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The setting of the hotel is outstanding and the decor compliments the mountain feel very well. The beer brewed on site is leagues above the large scale commercial “stuff” that is sold in regular stores. As for the food, I’d fly back from Beijing just for that.

It was like stepping in to leafy England lovely staff comfortable rooms. The bar and log fires very welcoming and the best pint of beer. Highly recommend.

We decided to revisit my childhood where Rawdons featured prominently, and go to lunch there. I CALLED to make the booking, to ensure they knew we were coming. We arrived, and the Indian middle aged man walked straight past us, to a group of what sounded like American tourists. A young woman with a menu didn't even bother to answer me when I greeted and told her I booked. A young white guy welcomed us and invited us to sit anywhere. The young woman came back with ONE menu for two of us, her explanation being that the menu offering for lunch was limited (? And one menu? ). The Indian man then walked past us to a group of local white guests (never felt so invisible in my life) Then we asked for the wine list and the young waitress sighed and left, so we did too The last time we were at Rawdons as a group they were experiencing Industrial action and everyone was trying hard. This time no one gave a fig about me, my booking or the money I was going to spend lunching with a friend. I STILL, sitting at home now, can't believe how I was trested. You are no longer that fabulous place of my childhood where we could play while the adults ate, and have ice cream before our meal, and have a lovely time. More than anything, I pity you
Never never again when there are places like Abingdon, V de Vie, etc who appreciate my custom.
