Beautiful rooms, and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming.

DNA… do nothing at all! It is just what Addo Elephant House wisely invites you to in its welcoming letter left on your room. Laze yourself in the various courtyards lounges and verandas browsing old National Geographic magazines, hearing the birds singing or warm up by the gas fire place or the winter warming morning sun. Lovely and authentic place, no fake antique deco atmosphere but original aged  but functional pieces of furniture surround you while sipping a glass of champagne or a delicious peppermint tea in cozy sofas all around. It is all British colonial home style. It is winter but sunny and crowdless. The  Sidney room has its own veranda with running water taps into a rectangular fountain. In summer it must be very refreshing sitting there to chat or read in a more private atmosphere. Colonial type rooms are rustic, warm ample en suite rooms with AC and an electric heater. Bamboo ceiling painted in white is a concern at first, but in three days I found nothing but a tiny cricket in the shower floor.   There is a mosquito spray and repelent in the wardrobe for such a threat! It is time for you to think thou, that you are in a remote area in the country side! Spotless bed lining with that fresh smoky country smell.   Bathrooms face to an enclosed patio so windows don't have curtains. A bit annoying to pudorous minds but nothing that two hanging bathrobes against the windows can not solve.   Breakfast and dinner was served in a dark diningroom in mid light always on.

Beautiful, old-colonial feel; staff and owners who really go out of their way for you. Large, comfortable rooms in a lovely setting. Breakfast was great!

Super nice Lodge with — especially children — great staff. According to our 9-year-old son, the best place to stay in South Africa!

Awesome place to stay just outside of Addo National Park. Staying at Elephant House was a great experience as the staff make you feel relaxed and pampered. There are 2 pools and a variety of lounge areas to choose to relax during the day or evenings including a room with a fireplace, book library and even a selection of board games! The rooms were spacious and offered a variety of amenities, including making sure there was ample drinking water which we really appreciated. Extras like hot chocolate and biscuits for a morning of evening treat were a lovely touch. The 'Out of Africa' style of the place gave our stay the feeling of being in the bush despite being outside of the park. Breakfast was wonderful and offered a variety of options including fruits and yoghurt and a cooked breakfast with breads, cold meats, cheeses and spreads available as well. We also enjoyed a meal in the Map Room on one evening, which was delicious! Elephant House offers guests a range of activities many of which we didn't take up the offer of as we had made our own plans but would recommend some of them especially to overseas travellers wanting to maximise their time and energy. Highly recommended spot for this area and we hope to be back soon!

Simple lodge in the immediate vicinity of Addo Elephant Park. Very good cuisine. Friendly and courteous staff. Rustic character.

Great area and houses, though the room service was not constantly at the same level. The breakfast is delicious and the personal very friendly. We sure enjoyed our stay there!

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The accommodation is lovingly furnished, the food is fantastic and the people are so warm and friendly that we would like to stay longer than just four days.
Our small group will keep the Elephant House and the people here in very good memory and we wish them all the best!

We arrived very late and they had dinner waiting for us which was delicious. Our room was huge and very private. Every area in the elephant house is well thought out and decorated in a lovely way that is relaxing and inviting.

Initially we were dissapointed not to stay inside Addo Park, but once we saw this gem, we quickly changed our tune. The kind welcoming staff couldnt have made us feel more comfortable, offering us refreshments, drinks before escorting us to our room, which was an entire house. The gardens, the decor, the layout, all so perfectly done. The house was way more than we expected and was one of our favorites stays in the two week vacation we took. We wish we could have stayed longer and enjoy one of the many tours they offer, including personalized drives, or tours of local townships. The Elephant House works closely woth charities and inspired us to donate some clothing. The staff seemed to legitimately enjoy working there and made our short stay very special. Breakfast was excellent as well!

Wonderful boutique hotel and perfect for Addo.

Perfect service, wonderful breakfast and ok dinner. Be sure to arrive on time for dinner because most guest don't stay up that late.

We stayed 3 nights in a beautiful cottage in the countryside. The family makes you feel at home. Enough in the morning the car washed. The ranger who accompanies you to the Park is pleasant and prepared. We left a piece of heart!

The most amazing hotel and experience ever. Family friendly but still mature and serene.

This is  a must stay on your south afrika trip. It was highly recommended to me so I had a look on their website. The web was nice but the real experience was so much better. I was so happily surprised with the beautiful house and the outstanding service!   The courtyard is really nice and the surrounding verandas with very confortable seats make it perfect to relax after a safari. We had dinner twice, it was delicious, especially the lamb pot pie! After dinner you can sit at the fireplace enjoying a good glass of red wine and if you want chat with the other guests, the kind staff or if you prefer there is also enough space to sit somewhere else more privately. When we got to our rooms we found a hot water bottle in our bed, and even a little goodnight surprise, how thoughtfull! We also did a township tour with Clive, it was really informative and also fun. We had a beer with the locals and understand so much more now about the daily live. I also think I have to work on my dancing skills after I have seen kids dancing on the streets and having so much fun! The addo park was our first safari experience and we loved it, we where lucky to see a lion a buffalo and lots of elephants on our first day. And to come home after a day full of new experiences, the elephant house is just perfect.   A big Gracias to Clive and his lovely staff for making this a perfect stay!

Breakfast and setting is amazing, but some rooms are old and have bugs.
