Maison du Bonheur

Exceptional experience!
I loved: the structure full of unexpected little corners, the murals, the staff (especially Kevin and Mendez), Chef Alfonse and his food, Bertrand the Lawyer (the owner) who shared a glimpse of his life with us, the beach, the breathtaking view of the ocean.
From my travel journal:
"It’s an improbable yet beautiful ship-shaped structure with an inner jungle courtyard and a pool, and the rooms overlook it via an interior corridor. They look like lifeboats. A huge wooden/bamboo cabin rises at the center of the building. Murals everywhere. Writings in English. Hearts scattered in hidden corners. Each room has a different theme and title. Ours is 'Love Nest' — it has a raised bed made of twigs echoing the name, and a mural of an African woman bathing at sunset in a tub resembling the bed. A powerful image, in a piercing yellow.
Before dinner (and a little after), we explore the bizarre complex that is the 'hotel': on the upper floors or terraces we discover some unexpected corners. A small wooden terrace with two tables overlooking the pool from above. A nautical-themed bar with a boat keel as the front. We cross a rope bridge — only two people can pass at a time — that hovers 8 meters above the pool, all surrounded by coconut palms. Finally, a very large covered hall with long tables, decorated with seashells and a pair of glowing wings on the walls. A tiki-style bar with swings instead of stools.

Our family visit to Maison du Bonheur on Ngor Island was absolutely delightful. This quaint and charming spot offered a peaceful retreat that was both engaging for the kids and relaxing for us. The ambiance of the Maison du Bonheur exuded warmth and hospitality, making us feel at home immediately. For the children, the environment was safe and inviting, allowing them to explore and play freely, which is always a plus for any family-oriented destination. The staff at Maison du Bonheur were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The culinary offerings were a treat, with dishes that appealed to all ages, ensuring that even our youngest family members were happy and well-fed. The quality of the food was excellent, with fresh ingredients and well-executed dishes that provided a delightful culinary experience. Our accommodation was comfortable, clean, and well-suited for a family, with all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. The attention to detail and the focus on guest comfort stood out, making our time at Maison du Bonheur a genuinely enjoyable experience. In summary, Maison du Bonheur in Ngor Island was a fantastic choice for our family, offering a blend of relaxation, comfort, and hospitality that made our visit memorable. It's a place we would happily recommend to other families looking for a peaceful and welcoming destination.

Great place to share a meal or snacks. Alcohol is also served here. I also like the why of the place. It's kind of a historic place where part of revenue contribute to educate vulnerable communities. The staff is friendly also. The wait was long but we enjoyed our meal.
