This is an average hotel. It is not of 5 star quality, well not for westerners. It's an Arab style hotel and the interior of the rooms and hallway of the hotel is outdated and old. Even the sockets are 2 pin. There was one 3 pin socket in the room that I stayed in. The sofa was worn out and sank in when you sat on it. One really bad experience was I had a taxi booked and waiting for me. I called the reception 15/20 minutes prior to the arrival of my taxi to check out. I spoke to a woman. I asked her to send someone to take our luggage. I waited 10 minutes and nobody came so I called again. I waited another 10 minutes and nobody came so I had to take my own luggage. That really pissed me off as I had a taxi waiting and a flight to catch. Waiting for 20 minutes is not acceptable. If they're busy then they should let me know. The cow wasn't even apologetic when I called the second time. When I complained at the reception desk the weren't even aware that I had called twice for someone to take my luggage. Some good points: The room I stayed in was big and spacious for 3 adults and 3 young children. There was a small electric cooker in the room. The hotel reception guy was professional and friendly. He spoke English and Arabic. On the second night there was a problem with the breakfast so everyone got a free upgrade to the better restaurant. The location is excellent. It's tower 5 connected to the Museum Mall. You walk straight out into the courtyard of the Haram. The best thing about this place is the location and room size (my room was 42 square feet). You have to be patient and work around the other things.
