Davinci Gorilla Lodge

Such a gem! The staff were incredible — so attentive, and helpful. The food was amazing — prepared by a chef with special menus each day. And the location was very close to all of the gorilla tours.
The foot massage and boot wash after gorilla tracking were especially wonderful!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge. The location was perfect for both Gorilla and Golden monkey trekking, making it incredibly convenient for our adventure. The lodges themselves were spacious and exceptionally comfortable, offering a relaxing retreat after our treks.
The food was consistently delicious, and we were delighted to find that a tasty vegetarian option was always available, catering perfectly to our dietary needs. But the true highlight was the exceptional service and hospitality.
Manager Henry was incredible. He always went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. His warm personality and genuine care for our experience made us feel right at home.
The front-of-house and restaurant staff were fantastic, especially Joy, Divine, and Priscilla. Their friendly smiles and helpful attitudes made our dining experiences even more enjoyable.
And last but certainly not least, the foot massages we received were absolute heaven. Alliance and Esther did an amazing job making us feel relaxed and rejuvenated after our treks.
All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would recommend 100%.

I wish I could give this place more than a 5 star review. Loved everything about it, ideal location, excellent service, fire in my room, hot water bottles and chef made me some special vegetarian food. Oh and the foot massage after the Golden Monkey trek was an added bonus! Sparky (the dog) became my best friend during my stay. Always joining me for my meals and would guard my room at night. Will definitely miss the hospitality of this place.

Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge was so charming and homey! We were greeted by the lovely staff and the exceptionally friendly resident dog, Sparky who will show you to your room each night.
The lodge is charming, full of big lounges that make it feel like home. You have a view of the nearby volcanos and views over the beautiful garden. The staff are so friendly and accomodating, even bringing a small fire to your table while you eat dinner and putting a fire on and hot water bottles in your bed while you eat so you get back to a cozy room at night (lead by the beautiful dog each night).
After Gorilla Trekking, they give your feet a massage and clean your boots too.
Finally, the food was amazing! It was fresh, simple and tasted delicious. We had 6-8 meals at Da Vinci and it’s hard to pick which is the favourite.
I would absolutely recommend this lodge to others for the food, hospitality and staff. You’ll be happy here and would be suitable for families or travellers looking for a relaxing place to make their base after a long day of being active around Volcanos.

Stayed one night before on the Bisoke hiking. The staff is super responsive and polite, making my stay at the lodge comfortable. During the dry season, the rooms can be cold. So there is an option for a fireplace, also they put a hot-water bag in the bed, which is very nice.
There is a modern Fossey Museum-fond 200 meters from the lodge, which I recommend visiting.

This is a best 5 star hotel near volcanoes that I have stayed in around Rwanda. The services were so wonderful. The manager lady chantal was a very caring with person with a high sense of hospitality. The services are quick, clean rooms and delicious food. Everything was perfect 👌🏾. I recommend this place for every one who will come for gorilla trekking.

Wonderful caring staff with a warm atmosphere. The food and ambience were excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay near the gorilla's. We enjoyed the post trek foot massages and are truly appreciate your cleaning our shoes!

I had an absolute amazing stay at the Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge. One of my favorite places I stayed in Africa! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made my stay so comfortable. I did a hike to the golden monkeys and fell in love with the high mountain landscape and volcanoes. Located right up the road from Diane Fossey museum! I will be back!

This is a beautiful place, with large rooms, and the staff is very friendly and polite.
The food was the best I had on my whole trip to Rwanda, with special compliments to the chef, who not only prepares a flavorful meal, but also decorated de dishes beautifully.
After we did the gorilla trekking, we arrived with dirty boots and sore feet, but the hotel offered a complimentary foot massage and boot cleaning.
They also provided firewood and hot water bags for the bed, which we thanked, since the temperature at night is quite low on the mountains.
I am really glad we got to this place.

Wow! The staff at the Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge were amazing — the food (was plentiful and delicious), the hospitality incredible. The staff even helped me phone the Kigali airport chasing our luggage — they definitely went above and beyond. I hope to return one day — highly recommend!
And Sparky — the resident dog — would escort us to our room each night — absolutely beautiful!

What a hidden gem! We had such a wonderful stay at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge during our weekend to do a gorilla trek. The individual cottages are very spacious and comfortable, made even more cozy with fires and warm water bottle bottles in the bed at night. Service was excellent — we were sent off on our hike with a filling breakfast and a bag of snacks, and when we returned the staff offered complementary boot cleaning (for boots fully submerged in mud — no easy task) and foot massages. Cottages are very large can easily fit extra beds to accommodate a family traveling together. The location is perfect — in a quite, lush green spot at the base of the mountains and near the park entrance, so a brief 10 minute drive to begin your early morning hike. Perhaps most importantly, most of the accommodations in this area are WAY overpriced for what you get, probably skewed by the very high prices of the gorilla permits, but Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge felt like very good value for money. Would highly recommend it!

I came here for a weekend getaway from Kigali for two nights. It’s a terrific value. Very clean, comfortable, spacious rooms. Friendly, attentive staff. Great breakfast. Plenty of hospitality from the moment you enter til you leave. They even gave us snacks to take with us when we went trekking for the day! It’s also only about ten minutes drive from the national park HQ where all the tourist activities (gorilla trekking, volcano hiking, etc) begin. I highly recommend staying here if you need an affordable yet comfortable place to stay when visiting Volcanoes National Park.
