I’ve come to this pension with a group sponsored by Intrepid Travel. Ramona e “foarte fantastică” as one might say in Romanian. She does speak English but if you can speak Romanian as well she and her husband will love it. I studied Romanian I preparation for this trip. I highly recommend both this pension house as well as Intrepid.
Ramona, th pension's owner, cook, host and laundress is what makes this pension work. Hospitable and accommodating, she is a good cook. Her meat-and-rice stuffed grape leaves were tasty, likewise her beef (tender) and potatoes. Along with home made jams and relishes, she whips out a walnut topped dessert cake that was one of the best I've eaten. Her chalet-like 2-story pension is in a quiet neighborhood and features clean rooms with plenty of hot water. Cable TV and free Wi-Fi are also available. Weary travelers will also appreciate her laundry service, about 14 lei per person. All in all “Ramona-made-Romania” great for me.
