The decor, different and a good interesting! The beds felt great. And there are fresh fruit and water available in the lobby. The front desk was very very helpful. Took us on a tour of the place and gave us detailed and visual recommendations of places to see and eat around the area. Beautiful space. Huge roof top. Grill and kitchen available for use, nice enough to have a party, which one guest had. Very nice.

Old hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. The decor is art deco. Staff was friendly. Be aware that there is no elevator, if mobility is an issue for you. We had a room with a kitchenette. It was well stocked with a full sized fridge, sink and microwave.

Puerto Rico has limited power and they had power and vacancies when we needed a place! Beautiful rooms and large living area in the fourth floor suite with 2 balconies included. Amazing hotel!

Me and my family had a wonderful time at this lovely boutique hotel! They have 9 rooms in total, so you really get to know the staff, and they couldn't be any more friendly, helpful, or attentive! The interior of the building was beautifully decorated and the staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the building, who the designer was, and even told us where we could find his art studio. We stayed one night in their Executive Room Suite and we were then moved to a larger one the next day. Both units were clean, beautifully decorated, spacious and looked exactly as they did in the pictures, the second unit was just dreamy! This place has a very unique charm to it, and the owner Elena went above and beyond to ensure that we had a comfortable stay, she really pulled all the stops! They have limited front desk hours but they are available by text or calling afterwards and they were super responsive to all of our needs. Their customer service was by far the best that I have EVER experienced and the next time I am in town, I won't stay anywhere else! A wonderful establishment run by true professionals.

Extremely well located place, with very friendly service. I highly recommend this place. A lot of land marks around that you can walk to. Also, for cheap lunch nearby, go to the 2nd floor of barrachina restaurant. For around $8 you get local and abundant food!

What a beautiful hotel! I stayed in room 8 with my fiancé for a long weekend getaway trip and the design is very unique and vibrant. I highly recommend this hotel. It's very close to a lot of great restaurants and landmarks. It's also down the block from a nice park.

The hotel is very beautiful and well decorated. We were in the one bedroom suite which was very spacious, with a full fridge, sink, and microwave. The location is perfect. We were pleased with our stay. A few negatives: the plumbing is old so toilet paper can't be flushed, it goes in a little trash can by the toilet. No elevator, so be prepared to carry your stuff up the stairs. And the front desk isn't staffed 24/7 but there is a number to call if you need anything. Overall, we were satisfied and would stay here again.

When I walked in… the place was beautiful to look at. The building is old and is full of fun decore. I stayed there for a week and as beautiful as the buildings is, the service sure made it suffer. Staff is not available at all times. When they are available, everyone was great! But when no one was there it was very inconvenient. Which made you having any questions or concerns very difficult to get addressed. You can text the owner but she is not a fast responder and at times doesn't reply at all. But the WORST part of my stay here was the housekeeping or lack there of. This was the part that made my stay so disappointing. There was a huge nasty stain on the sheets the first night I was there. But because it was "after houser" no one was there to change the sheets. So we had to sleep on the couch. They didn't charge us for the night but the cleanliness didn't get any better from that point forward. All they did was give is new towels. The room was never clean. They didn't sweep/mop the floors or change the sheets. Or cleaned the bathroom. Or wiped down the table. I had to request for new sheets and to get the room floors to be clean because I went to the beach and I had sand everywhere. And when I notice that the floors were not cleaned the first time… I said something. We never got new spoons or cups unless I requested. The place is pricy per night and when you don't get the service that you expect, it makes it for a very disappointing experience.

LOVED it! The owner is wonderful! The staff was so nice! Prime location. The best bananas I've ever eaten in the lobby every morning!

My husband and I were looking for a boutique hotel in Old San Juan that was close to everything and found Monastery Art Suites. What a great place! Our experience at Monastery was above expectations. The staff and management was friendly, always gave us tips on great breakfast/eateries to check out. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we didn't mind the short stairs too. The location was quiet and we always felt safe since its right around the corner from the capital — meaning an officer was always standing guard a block away. Parking was a tough thing to get, I would recommend renting a car on days you know you'll be venturing out of the city. Staying at Monastery gave us a chance to get to know Old San Juan, I wouldn't have done it any other way.
