Hotel absolutely not to choose, not even for a night. Smelly from dying, just the smell of the sewer from the ground floor up to the 2nd floor you will die. We spent the first night in a room that smelled as if there was a open dump… we asked for the immediate substitution of the room and luckily we were given a room on the 4th floor where there was luckily the smell… but I assure you that the hotel is dirty… the bed sheets and towels grey not white… we have left the mat in the bathroom even though the dirt for two days and then I asked I have one that is clean… breakfast mediocre… service poor… toiletries non-existent at the reception boys and novice girls rude not even to say hello and look at the customer in the face when he speaks… and they are safe because they are ashamed of the smell hideous that you feel just passes the port d input… a terrible experience.

Location, location, location! It doesn’t get any better than this, right in front of metro, tram and taxi stands. And walking distance to the nightlife of Bairro Alto. Spacious and well appointed rooms (ours had the superb Chiado square view), friendly staff and great breakfast. Absolutely recommended!

We had a really big room overlooking the Main Street. At first we were worried that it was going to be really loud at night but the windows were literally soundproof, didn't hear a thing. The bed was comfy, bathroom was big. There is a huge seating area in the back of the reception which was great because we had an hour to kill between check out and flight. The location is perfect but if you have a car I don't know where you would park. It's a pedestrian only street and everything nearby is very busy and packed. Steps from the subway and about a 10 minute walk from the water. Pack comfortable shoes, lots of cobblestone hills to climb.

The location is perfect! Chiado both in the evening and in the morning is very busy. There are hundreds of shops. The hotel is located right next to the café in Brazilira (Portuguese architectural heritage) a destination loved by Fernando Pessoa. The rooms are very manicured and clean, the staff are friendly. I recommend it!

Disgusting hotel with nonchalant staff. The rooms look nothing like the pictures. Uncomfortable, unclean and massive plumbing issues!

Positives: Good location downtown, for our part a spacious room for 2 adults and 2 children quiet as requested. The room is rather pretty and looks renovated considering the facilities. Good box spring. The front desk staff who greeted us were friendly. A little more: a small refrigerator in the room.
Negative points: damaged and dirty bedroom walls, lack mosaic tiles in shower, hair in beds. The other front desk staff much less friendly. Breakfast is limited. Fruit juice and coffee not good at all. More industrial than local products. The breakfast waitresses are at 3 but disappear sometimes for 15 minutes and suddenly the guests feel a little lost especially on the first day.

Room comfortable, though having booked a double room a month in advance we were given a room with four beds, two singles and a double, with a tiny bathroom, over a very noisy road, with people shouting obscenities at around 2 am and later, repeatedly. The area is full of drunkards late at night. Corridors dirty, dark and depressing, emergency exits obstructed by disused stockpiled furniture. Breakfast was as bad as they come, if not worse. Only the eggs, the tomatoes, the beans and the fruit were edible. Coffee was insultingly bad, croissants stale and uneatable, bread of the cheapest industrial quality, and the same applied to the cheese and to something described as ham. The omelette was hard, rubbery and cold. The staff, while not aggressive or insolent in any way, were disorganized, happy go lucky, and basically did not give a damn, and their carelessness went together with a pleasant, if insincere, smile.

Great location, pleasant desk staff. Room clean and adequate. Bathroom was clean but terribly designed, shower a sitting bathtub with no room to stand, and sink tucked into a corner, couldn't stand in front of it.

This hotel location was excellent, great for walking at night and during the day.
Our first room was a twin but we asked to change to a double which they kindly did change it.
The communal areas were lovely and modern and we didn’t hear any street noise.

The hotel is very close to the city centre. The room was very well refurbished. The reception of the staff is to be reviewed.

Very disappoiting hotel; room very small and dark; looking out on a wall. Didn’t look like any of the glamourous pictures on the website. Personell indifferent. Breakfast much too simple for its price. Avoid this place; the only highlight is the location.

We had a great time at the Borges Hotel. We did everything on foot during our weekend. The fact of having its accommodation in the centre is great! After that it is not ruined while staying in a good establishment.

Very charming hotel located in the heart of Lisbon. The reception is great, the breakfast very good and the Deco beautiful! Great stay!

Very well located 20 meters from the subway. On the other hand expensive. Prefer the pastry Benard just next door.

Horrible place. We pay superrior room and they give us standard double room. Very dirty bads. Hair all over the bathroom. Bed choice. First time in Lisbon. Never come again.

Pictures do not coincide with what we found here, starting from pillows, old / worn bedding to dirty walls, etc
besides the fact that we paid the superior room the first time they gave us a room in the attic with a very small glass after other discussions,
they offered us a standard room room claiming to be superior, but the photos they posted on the site / booking contradictory!

Not top hides a lot of imperfection apart from its location and the staff who is friendly.

Well maintained hotel but at reception somewhat chaotic. The hotel is close to the train station.

We have stayed at this hotel since 16 February for 3 nights, I claim to have purchased via agency (but usually we do and are careful) that trusted the photos posted on the site but in time I have not read the reviews and booked a room triple also the agency took this hotel for the location and actually it's more than good cmq the our room the 503 is on the top floor so a cute attic because feature x the window that opens on the roofs but dirty x the presence of the carpet present already in the hallway characterized by a bad smell the dirty bathroom door so much that I with the sanitizing wipes the little girl's bed placed under a dirty skylight and without obscuring the bathroom was for 1 of the 7 dwarves without bidet, the shower door that touched the ceiling and could not be opened completely a sink so small that it was compared to that of a caravan or a plane bathroom where the hands, all, did not enter, a mirror that did not reach the person but only my daughter could Mirror himself given his age (9 years) …
TV without channel in Italian and at reception when I asked they answered that there was RAI 1 but that I had to search (I did it but without finding it) …
Of the photos you see on the site I found only the breakfast room, really nice of everything else NOW
On our arrival we were greeted by kindergarten I think of hotel school, ineperated, without knowing the language of the incoming guest and lens x recording.

You can't do better than that!
The location is great! 15 meters to the Baixa-Chiado metro station (up to El Corte Ingl's 4 stops on the metro in a straight line), 20 meters to the stop of the legendary 28 tram and 50 meters to the taxi stand (up to Alfama 5 euros). There is a paid underground car park 100 metres away (the night turned out to be 28 euros, not cheap, but it was near us and it's the centre of Lisbon). It is convenient to go to Rociou Square, as you have to go from the mountain, not uphill. Don't forget to check out the glove shop that has existed since 1925, the size of a wardrobe, Luvaria Ulisses. 7-10 minutes and you're in the Bairro Alto area, with its unquenchable nightlife, where you can listen to the fado in the famous Cafe Luso or just have fun in any of the bars.
We had a chic attic room with a balcony on the roof of the hotel (No. 513) for three. The air conditioning worked perfectly on heating (were from January 3 to January 7, 2017). The room was very clean, the bathroom always had shampoos, gels, etc.
The staff are very friendly, ready to always help. The settlement/eviction took 3 minutes. No problem called us a taxi at 5am to the airport. A Russian-speaking girl works at breakfasts. Breakfasts are quite hearty.
The hotel has an elevator, which is undoubtedly an advantage. There is also a shop where you can buy souvenirs and suitcases if someone needs :)
The Wi-Fi in the room worked perfectly.

The hotel is located directly on a metro station. Many bars, restaurants, shops and places of interest. When you get in, you think, oh beautiful. The room was relatively spartan furnished. For a double room very small.

Very well located between Chiado and Bairro Alto. The subway station is at the door. In the area there are many bars and restaurants. Would definitely go back.

Inedible breakfast (The room is however beautiful… damage), unpleasant bedding, noisy bathroom, dirty towels, medium insulation, odor of unbearable maintenance products…

Hotel in the romantic heart of Lisbon… It is located at the exit of the subway on a lovely and lively square where in the evening you can enjoy a coffee with the music of street artists in the background… Rooms clean and equipped with the main comforts, very well soundproofed and spacious bathroom with plenty of water from the shower (not discounted in hotels) … Strategic point for every Lisbon visit! The typical 28 tram that runs through the city with spectacular views passes under them.

Unhappy impact, compared to the photos of the site. Strong acrid smell of bleach all over the hallway and in the booked room. Bathroom worn and not as clean as the rest of the room, required third bed already at the reservation and was put a very uncomfortable cot suitable for a child not an adult person on 70kg. We asked to change room and it was done but the environment still remains an old hotel, worn and poorly cared for at least as far as hygiene is concerned.

Great place, strategically located. Shopping center, street artists, restaurants, monuments in walking distance. Plenty of world renowned clothing brands, so you can shop till you drop.

Extremely well placed hotel with the Bairro Alto district at 5 min walk. The room was very small It is very easy to be understood by the very friendly staff.

Horrible bathrooms with the smell of dampness and sewerage.
The rooms are old and shabby.
Breakfasts are meagre and monotonous.
There is noise and songs under the windows until 2 a. M.

Good hotel with great value for money in the best location X visit Lisbon both on foot and by public transport (tram 28 stop and Metro stop a few steps)

Not very nice the manager and certain employee brief hotel a tourist room fetuste generous continental breakfast has will not stand next to the service door breakfast room L used the slap every time she debarasse a torment at Awakening Lisbon BOF traps a tourist.

This hotel is very well located in the heart of Lisbon, with many shops and restaurants in its surroundings. We took a double room with the breakfast rate which we were not disappointed at all. Overall I would recommend this hotel, especially for the people who work there, very attentive and friendly.

Not bad but a pretty average hotel. I've stayed in better 3 star hotels. The breakfast was pretty terrible — we had it the first morning but went out of the hotel for breakfast the other mornings. Laundry service very expensive for a 3 star hotel (cost us about 60 euro). Room was nice and quite spacious, but even with all that space, the bathroom was very small (the sink was placed outside the bathroom). Great location nonetheless. Baixa-Chaido station is right outside the hotel.

Loved the hotel. Visited from the United States and couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot. Nice workout area with showers. Lounge and/or event space was almost ready but not open yet.

Well… it is a nice hotel in a nice location, but reception doesn't understand much english. They also have super good rooms (woth new furniture, new toilets and so on) but they also have very crappy ones too… we had bad luck at arrival but changed the room in our 3rd day

The location is perfect for exploring the city centre. Popular area for tourists, however very soundproof rooms. Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms.

We have been around four times before to hotel Borges. Each time we were given a front facing room without asking This time it was an extra 35.00 euro per night for a front facing room, on our way out once we had checked in we were stopped and asked for the extra room supplement. On the second afternoon of our stay a young man banged on the door once when I went to open the door he already had his pass key ready to come in, he said he had to check the information booklet was in the drawer I told him it was but he said he had to come in. Not sure if under new management but not impressed.

Room very good, housekeeping made every day more than correct, buffet breakfast with a varied diet, very helpful employees, hotel super well located (in the heart of Lisbon) and all for a more than reasonable price (if we reserve to Advance). We just had a problem with air conditioning that we had trouble settling (a blow too cold a blow we felt nothing while we were not touching anything) but overall we were more than happy with the hotel.

Perfect location — great view from balcony to Old Town, very close to many attractions (vis a vis entrance to subway & tram no. 28). Very nice, helpful staff, tasty breakfasts. Next to the oldest cafe in Lisbon — La Brasileira. I recommend in 100%! :-)

Great location right in the heart of the historical centre of lisbon. Room are really spacious and bed is really comfortable! The only thing that I didn't like is the noise especially if you have a room at first floor because in front of the hotel every day musicians are singing till 1/2 am The breakfast wad really god and is available from 7:30 till 11:00 Staff and others facilities are decent.

We stayed for 10 nights at Hotel Borges Chiado. Great hotel, very helpful and polite staff. Perfect location, close to the centre. Room on the fifth floor very large and quiet. Breakfast plentiful. Location to suggest.

I'll have to go one star on this place. There is European small and then there is ridiculous. I am about 1 ft short of being able to literally touch all 4 walls at once in the "bedroom" and I can actually touch all 4 walls in the bathroom. Also the bathroom has a nice feature that the tank for the toilet is mounted about 45 cm (18in) above the toilet, so when you sit on the toilet the lid rests against your back. Awesome!

It's a good place to stay, the pillows are too flat but that is the only thing.

A prime location in the city but the hotel, very flashy on the front, does not keep its promises inside: lots of noise, a minimum service.
Having said that I recommend for the visit of Lisbon because its location is close to everything: metro, tram, bus etc.

Stay from 8 to November 12, 2013: lovely room with balconies on rua Garrett, good breakfast, cleanliness, bathroom good, exceptional location and, finally, the legendary tram 28.

Don't bother with this hotel. We made a reservation on their website for the Duas Nacoes Hotel (Same owners), but when we showed up they had no rooms. They didn't offer any apology or explanation as to why we had a reservation but they had no rooms. They sent us to their other hotel, Hotel Borges. So we hauled our luggage to the Hotel Borges. We had the choice of the two smallest rooms they had. Room 1 was barely larger than the bed. Room 2 was in the attic and had a ceiling height of about 6 ft. In the center. You couldn't stand up unless you stood in the center of the room. Breakfast included cold coffee. I would have told someone about the cold coffee, but I couldn't find anyone. We checked out and went to the Lisboa Tejo hotel. Better price and much better service.

The price-quality ratio is very good. The location is perfect.

I stayed in the hotel and I adored, the location is amazing, charming hotel, you must see the breakfast room, you will think we are in the XVII century in 2011, adorable. Me and my fiancee loved to stay there. we will go again and the hotel is three stars.

First we liked the hotel: a low price and very central. The rooms looked OK and the simple breakfast was easily forgotton when we ate something on nice places nearby the hotel… But the second day we found cockroaches in our bathroom and under our bed. We did not sleep anymore and there was no possibility to change rooms!
