Tongo Hill Cottages

Wow what a beautiful gem in Moalboal. My cottage was spotlessly clean, outdoor bathroom was amazing! There is no air con but that was fine, I had 2 powerful fans in my room so I was very comfortable. Staff are brilliant, jolly and very helpful. I hope to come back for another stay. Thank you guys, you're the best!

Had an amazing stay at Tongo Hill Cottages. Located in a quiet place. Comfortable room. Open air style bathroom. Good facilities. They serve a good breakfast and snacks during the day. Took their massage service and it was good. Highly recommended in Moalboal. Thanks Rosaline.

Amazing place to stay if you are visiting Moalboal! The fresh fruit was so good! The location was perfect since it was not in the noisy downtown area but still very close. Would def be back if I was in Moalboal.

This place is true to it’s rating on here. It has a calm atmosphere, great staff 👍🏼👏🏽, and the bungalows are in great condition and have everything to make it very comfortable. Love the outdoor shower and bathroom.
The breakfast omelette was very delicious. I’d recommend try making whole grain bread or sourdough bread in house to raise the breakfast a bit.
There’s options to have massages on site for reasonable rates and a camp fire if requested.
I was most impressed when the sweet lady who brought the breakfast asked how the night was and if anything could be addressed/improved.
It’s the first place I’ve encountered this healthy communication from a staff. Thank you.
There can be noise from the neighbors periodically in the Tonga Hill area, not something that can be resolved at the time.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. The service was absolutely incredible — not to overinflate expectations, but the service was concierge level great. The guests who stay here skew a bit younger, it seemed like this is a place backpackers can go for a bit of luxury, privacy, and peace. Everything they booked for us from massage to tricycles to cross-island transport was amazing (and very reasonably priced), and they clearly have a great network. These are really honest people, with such great hospitality, I would trust them with anything. They don't have a full service restaurant on site yet (they have a small kitchen where they make breakfast and sammies), but there's a local restaurant that delivers right to your room, and it was DELICIOUS. It was so nice to enjoy delicious Filipino food from the comfort of our own "home". The dogs and cats that live here are also SO sweet, I really enjoyed when they would visit us on the porch as we relaxed in the morning or evening. They always made accommodations for us to have an early breakfast when our tour picked us up before breakfast officially started, which I appreciated so much! There's no AC, but it really wasn't a problem, since there were 2 very powerful fans in the room (we actually got cold and had to turn one of them off in the middle of the night), and the structure of the cottages makes for really good ventilation.

We had a lovely week at Tongo Hills, a true paradise and hidden gem. The folks are super friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere. From giving us local recommendations to making sure we are enjoying ourselves they have nailed the service to chilled vibe ratio. Kudos to Charlie and his family who have a built this beautiful nirvana. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We stayed at Tongo Hill Cortages for a couple nights in May 2024.
What I loved about the experience:
— the aesthetics are on point. Each corner designed with attention to detail.
— the staff! Extremely polite, warm and super helpful. They even go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and help you with local recommendations.
— they can also help you with local guides tours.
— the location is beautiful. The approach road might be a little bumpy but you have beautiful sunrise and sunset views. It’s reasonably close to the white beach and panagsama beach.
— they can arrange a bonfire or a movie night upon request.
I highly recommend you stay here on your trip to moalboal.

I would have given 6 stars ⭐️ at Tongo. We had wonderful time staying at the hotel. The staffs were very helpful and responding very quickly. It’s easy to book the taxi from airport to the hotel and also booking the tricycle from hotel to the town. On the last night, we booked the movie night and other guests at hotel joined us too. They also offered popcorn which was very nice.
Lastly, we are sorry about the glass window that we broke. 🥲

A luxurious yet homey paradise with stunning scenery and hospitality that treats you like family.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Tongo Hills Cottages, and were blown away by this hidden gem. From the incredible mountain views to the warm hospitality (Zenia, Rosalie, Ate Marcel, the owners-Caroline… everyone! ), our time at Tongo exceeded every expectation.
We stayed in one of the cozy bahay kubos 'Adelfa', which featured beautiful native hardwood details, bamboo decor, and luxurious modern amenities like Wi-Fi and hot shower. The room was spotless and the beds were surprisingly comfortable despite being small (my partner is Dutch).
We also loved the cute attention to detail and add ons like: locally-made soap&shampoo bars, movie & bonfire nights.
Nitpicks:
— fans are too industrial-like (noisy and blowing too much)
— had to ask for an extra blanket (the one provided was too thin and small)
— bathroom rug was missing (we had to use one of our towels)
— very limited breakfast options for long-term guests.

It’s just a little piece of paradise. It was perfectly located. Just 5 min to the beach and 5 min the other way to the city center. From the first second to the last second they were just doing everything to make us comfortable and happy. The movienights were also cozy and chill. Just what we needed between our holiday.

If I could give 6 stars I would do it.
The place is away from the caos of the city but still easily reachable from the center with a moped or a tricycle.
The breakfast is delicious, the cocktails are strong 💪 I loved it.
The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The room is very cozy and we loved spending time on the hammock and just relax.
They offer a massage service, I personally had the best massage of the trip.
They all have very skilled and nice staff, fluent in English and always keen to help.
Imagine that I ordered a cocktail, they realised that they did it wrong, they asked me if I wanted a new one, I told them that it was okay even if it was mistaken and there was no problem, but they decided to make me a new one for free. It was very sweet.
If I come back to Moalboal I will for sure come back here!

We had such an amazing time at Tongo Hill Cottages. Such amazing service — help everywhere we needed from booking tours to having our laundry done. We went diving with the sardines and canyoneering in the waterfalls. We didn’t feel super comfortable on motorbikes but the hotel organized easy transport for us into town. The chill area is wonderful and the Wi-Fi was strong enough for me to complete my work, even taking video calls. The rooms are simple but exactly what you need and the place is just simply breathtaking. We knew there was no AC coming into the place and we were very happy (even cold! ) with the fans in the room. They bring WONDERFUL breakfast daily to the room — we felt so well treated. In the afternoons, Someone we would even order cocktails to the lounge area. They even arranged a seamless pick up from the airport for us from Cebu airport which went so smoothly — don’t hesitate to book this service, it’s so much better than trying to navigate the bus on the windy long journey. Thank you so much for everything!
