My father had a minor surgery done in the emergency room. It was a small incision on his ring finger to remove a cyst. The surgeon already told us that the bill would be 2k almost 5k with PHIC. The surgery was around 9AM and it was done less than 10 minutes but dealing with their philhealth staff took the whole day. The bill in total amounted to 58k for a small incision. What's disappointing is my parents confirmed to them more than 1x since a small incision wouldn't amount to that price. I have high regards for people working in the healthcare; I am a nurse, my uncle highly talks about west metro because he has his clinic and patients admitted their but this incident could have been prevented if we actually have competent staffs. We later found out the bill is only 3, 900php. My parents had to spend their afternoon in the bank just to withdraw money only to find out they were incompetent. I understand we are tired in this pandemic, we are underpaid but let us still be conscious because our negligence can lead to much more damage; not just to your clients but to your institution. Please do better and do something about this; I know we are not the first one who faced the issue. Imagine someone who is not versed with medical procedure facing the dilemma we had today? Please do better. Please let us be conscious of our actions, 58k to you maybe small and justifiable but not for everyone. This is disappointing.
