First of all, we stayed here in Cusco in a total of four different hostels in the same price segment. Due to several excursions, we checked into La Casa de Mayte three times and were in three different rooms.
The location of Casa de Mayte is pleasantly central. However, the road leading to the hostel is really insanely narrow and on the walkway there is hardly any room for a suitcase.
Some of the rooms have only a window towards the covered little courtyard where breakfast is also served. A proper ventilation is unfortunately not possible that we found relatively unfavorable, especially in the bathroom area.
The bathrooms are cleaned at first glance, but especially when the bathroom gets damp, you notice an unpleasant smell of urine and unfortunately in every room we were in.
English is spoken very meagre at the reception and it is difficult to communicate if you do not speak Spanish. Further service is almost excluded here.
Despite multiple demand when breakfast starts, actually at 6 o 'clock, and the hint that we will be picked up as early as 6:00 am for a tour, the breakfast at 6 o 'clock was not yet set up at all. So we had to get 4 hours of bus ride behind us with our snarling stomach. Very annoying!
The double rooms are sometimes so small that is difficult to open two suitcases or to get to the bathroom between bed and wall.
For these reasons definitely not the best choice for this prize in Cusco. There are significantly nicer hostels, for example, the Also have a nice open courtyard.
We would recommend the Hosteria de Anita, which is just as good in location and moves in the same price segment.
The whole system is much nicer and the service is 100% better.
If this assessment has been helpful for decision-making, I'm excited about a like.
