The best eco lodge in Bocas by far.

It has been 4 years since we were at La Loma. It still dazzles my memory. My husband Peter and I were so happy there… so enlightened and caressed by the people the food and architecture and the environment.

We had the most amazing experience at La Loma! Of all of the places we traveled in Panama, our stay at La Loma was by far our favorite retreat. Henry and Margaret are the warmest of people and are genuinely interested in their guests. Each evening we would gather at the lodge surrounded by the warm light of the oil lamps while listening to the music of the jungle all around us to delight in the most delicious local food. We shared stories with other guests while we sipped cocktails made with local ingredients. My partner and I gently swayed in our hammocks while watching a mama sloth climbing methodically through the trees with her baby clinging to her belly. Parrots and Montezumas Orenpedulas squawked and bubbled in the canopy as the first light of the day greeted us. This place is like no other and we hope to return again in the near future.

Superlatives are not enough to describe La Loma and its fantastic owners, Henry and Margaret, and their whole team. They made our team feel so welcome, at home and cared for while we worked in the Bocas area. Their lodge is stunning in its melding of comfort and nature and their food is every day novel and beyond delicious. I cannot wait to return.

La loma is nothing short of pure magic! I loved absolutely everything about my stay especially the accommodations and the food. Henry and Margaret are the most thoughtful hosts and have created such a unique experience. This is a MUST if you are visiting the area!

Everything about our visit was incredible — the views, staff and food. We also happened to get lucky with the other guests who became friends. Every meal was a pleasant surprise made with local ingredients and tailored for the various preferences and allergies of guests. The cabin was comfortable and we awoke every morning to the sounds of the jungle — birds, monkeys, frogs. It felt like we were in a dream. The exercions we went on (snorkeling, hiking, sunset boat ride) were all safe, fun and educational. I can't say enough about how special it was to have the staff so knowledgeable about and respectful of the environment and local culture. All if this and the price was very reasonable. I could go on and on. We definitely plan to return to La Loma to experience the beauty of Panama and the warm hospitality of Henry, Maggie, Mr. Kelly, Chappie, Roger and the rest.

Forest-chocolate tour, plus lunch was absolutely enchanting and lovely! I recommend it highly to anyone visiting the Bocas area and I hope we'll return some day to stay overnight. The main kitchen/dining area is in a lovely structure amidst the trees. Lunch from local ingredients was delicious, including various chocolate dessert treats and the miracle berry — you'll have to visit to learn what makes it miraculous. The forest tour was great too — so much knowledge about trees and plants dispensed with humor and wisdom by Kelly. We loved it all and enjoyed spending our brief time meeting Henry and Margaret as well, and learning a bit about their story and how they built this remarkable place in the forest. Thank you!

We had a tour and lunch there and it was just wonderful. The owners are great and super interesting hosts. The food was amazing and this is definitely a place worth coming back for.

Have to say that the hosts are top notch and above average in service, dedication and quality. They work very hard to keep us happy, and the feeling of family is very strong and welcoming. Recommended only for people who are capable of walking up stairs as every place is on some sort of elevation and not suitable for those with limited mobility. Meals are high quality and gourmet, something that a real foodie like me can fully appreciate. I highly recommend La Loma Lodge if you're looking for a jungle retreat in Bocas del Toro.

We went for a tour and lunch at La Loma Jungle Lodge. It was, without question, the highlight of our trip through Panama. The owners were exceptional hosts but most strikingly we found ourselves invigorated and inspired from sharing in their passions for food, sustainability and community. From our fascinating tour of the cacao farm, to the once in a lifetime opportunity to make cacao paste by our own hands to the delicious, locally sourced meal — — — our experience left us in awe! We have definite plans to return in the future. Gracias!

4 nights @ La Loma was an outstanding experience. From Henry's friendly welcome to the excellent food, drinks, activities and banter we felt welcomed into the family and very comfortable being there. A Big highlight was waking up looking over the treetop canopy, a wonderful breakfast (Jungle granola) and then spending the day relaxing in a hammock reading. Also enjoyed sloth spotting and the adventures (with fantastic packed lunch) to Red frog and Polo beach. Lots of steps up to the higher cabins, great built in exercise! If this is a worry then I would recommend the lower rock pool cabin. Would recommend bringing ample bug spray, a few good books and a head torch for hands free lighting.
