Awful service. Absolutely no compassion at all. We wanted to have tea as a family after a family members funeral — one person didn’t want to eat but was happy to have a few drinks but was refused entry… we explained the situation and they had no interest in helping. Meaning the said person who had just lost their mum would have to sit in the car and wait for everyone else. We decided to take our custom elsewhere. Wouldn’t give them money to be treated like that. What a shambles of a place! Will be sure to spread the word of our awful experience there.

Staff are awesome. Place is always clean and tidy.

Stayed two nights there. Ate at the restaurant both nights and enjoyed it. Lots variety and food nice. Some things a bit dry.
Room we stayed in was a budget one and it was comfortable and had the very basic things. Shower pressure not the best but we made do.

Had lunch there a week ago for my mother's 80th birthday. Plates were cold, food was cold. Temperatures of food taken and chicken was at 40 degrees, fish stone cold, veggies tasted as if they had just come out of the fridge. Will not recommend this place to people that don't want to get food poisoning as this place would be a breeding ground for it with the food being of a substandard temperature and well below the health department required temperatures. We complained and were fobbed of with a excuse that the chefs sometimes use ceramic dishes, all just excuses, this place has been operating a long time and should know by now what works and what doesn't. After reading the reviews on this Facebook page I am surprised they are still operating in this establishment. I used to enjoy going to the sequoia 88, sadly that is no longer open. I suggest people look elsewhere for a better venue and stay clear of this one.

I took my daughter and niece there for lunch today and the food. (what food) there was no roast meat cut up for a period of 20 mins and even watched the chef come out 3 times and see the empty containers and just left them empty. No roast veggies for over 15 mins either. We certainly did not get our $75 plus money worth. Wil not be returning.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN The quality of other food was good but GOD damn I kid you not the chicken nibbles were the best thing I've ever tasted I had two full plates before I discovered them and I went on to eat a plateful of JUST THE NIBBLES (with some soft serve). I highly recommend coming here just for the chicken. I'm blown away.

Went here for lunch today which was a reasonable $25.50. Such an amazing array: Asian. Roast. Traditional one dish baked meals. Yummy! The meatballs, potato bake and lasagne were absolutely wonderful. Such an impressive assortment of every kind of food I could think of: 3 varieties of roast meat?! Amazing. I love buffets and this is the best one I've ever been to in my whole life.

Great night out with staff from work. Good selection of food. Very busy. Food of popular items werent replaced quickly. Bar service no table service.

This used to be my favorite place for dinner but it was so busy tonight had half hour wait just to get to the counter dispite being ten minutes ahead of booking. So was seated 20 minutes after booking time. Then when I went to get food half of the things were empty. Second time around had to wait 15 minutes to get near the food and had one very rude lady push me out of the way but it was enjoyable talking to others waiting. Then the food was either watery or had no flavour. Then when I went for dessert there was no bowls when I asked the staff seemed panicked. Then when bowls arrived the were warm so my dessert melted. Very disappointed in what used to be a higher class restaurant in terms of food. I have been there as part of a group of over 100 before and it was much better run.

Had dinner at the buffet. Really busy for a Monday night. A great selection of food. I just feel $30+ is really a little steep for a buffet meal. But at least the food quality is better than previous times I've been there.

Great place, quiet room, could be cleaner, juice marks on wall in kitchen and bedroom. Handprint on ceiling in lounge. Had the suite very roomy.

We went here for Mums 79th bday. Last time we came it was a weekend and a special Asian food week. This time not as much variety but darn tasty food. Was little disappointed at table clearing between servings, it wasn't that busy that it couldn't have happened quicker but as I have worked in all types of restaurants in the past I am finicky about this sort of thing. Especially handing a glass with fingers at the top where I am going to drink from. That one gets me every time. Otherwise… good food.

Had a family gathering there. Was very crowded. Food was ok. But thought the variety could've been better.

They specialize in all you can eat buffets. Not the best food but great if you're hungry. They have cheaper rate for over sixties.

Had lunch on Saturday 28th April 2018, food seemed ok at the time but my partner, daughter, sister and niece all came down with really bad stomach bugs last night. Turned CSI on everything they've eaten over the past two days and the only commonality is that we all had lunch at The Garden Restaurant. Not impressed at all… heard stories of people getting food poisoning in the past but ignored it as it had never happened to me. Turns out it is all true. Avoid this place, i'll never come back here!

Lovely girl serving in the cafe, very helpful, polite and cheery. Cheesecake was absolutely delicious. The fish, chips and salad being consumed to another customer looked delicious and very good value for 12 dollars:-) I will be back!

Nice place. Unit we had was clean & tidy, altho kitchen & bathroom a bit dated. Nice and quiet, except we we're put in a bit by motel laundry which had an early start.

We went to the restaurant and really enjoyed the buffet meal. There is a fairly wide range of foods from Macaroni Cheese, roasts, salads to soup, fried items and desserts. Those who are vegetarian or gluten free will find things to eat here as well. Very reasonably priced.

Had a great meal well worth it & plan to go back. Nice friendly atmosphere, service was great & food couldn't fault it.

Decent bedroom with kitchen facilities. Laundry on site. Very helpful reception who helped us out when we came in at 11pm after 8hours travelling to find we had locked our selves out The buffet restaurant was ok.

Quality for price and comfortable. Housekeeping staff very friendly. A container of fly spray would have been great to deal with the flys.

Reasonably priced, massive room and bathroom, the bed was really comfortable and they provided a huge selection of teas. The staff were helpful and friendly, check in and out was seamless. It's just down the road from a shopping centre with a reading cinema, 2mins drive so good for something do if your just stopping over for the night.

Great place to go before road tripping the South island of New Zealand great food and great place to stay close to the airport.

Cheap and food reflects that but lots of options and great for large groups.

The food is decent. The staff are great help and regularly check on you and offer refreshments. A bit pricy but still all you can eat so if you usually spent $30 at a restaurant then it's well worth the price. At dinner time I think there was 20 various food to choose from which includes Asian foods. Overall I would give 7/10

Had a very nice meal at the restaurant on Saturday the 18th Nov 2017. Everything was cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault the food at all. Had only two plates mainly meat and pasta On getting dessert at end of meal. Was dismayed with the hot dessert plates. Jelly had turned to water as had the ice cream turned milk didn't accompany the lovely sticky date pudding very well. Dessert plates need to be put in a cooler of some sort Thanks.

Good value for money. Very basic food and drink you could get at most takeaway places. Roast was overcooked and flavorless, probably because it was cut and left resting in a couple of cm of water. Nice deserts though.

Fantastic smorgasbord at the on site restaurant. Great variety. The Wi-Fi connection did work at all which was dissapointing. We had a two bedroom unit and it was huge. Plenty of space for my family of 4.

I first had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for lunch with family and friends on my birthday approximately 3 years ago… I have just returned to Tauranga today from a brief visit to Christchurch. My one request down South was to revisit that fabulous smorgasbord I remembered. Went with friends and family last night and it exceeded expectations… the vast choice of entrees and mains and the quality was mouth watering… I wasn't there for fancy décor just the food and I am tempted to fly my mother down in October to gather with family and celebrate her 80th…

Good food but the atmosphere isn't the best.

Yummy food … arrived early 540pm and the food was OMG good, it can be very busy at times with lines of people waiting in cue but this doesn't last long. We went to the Redwood last week and we're disappointed. Redwood great service weird tasting food. The garden restaurant no service, serve yourself yummy food!

Bloody got food poisoning should not of eaten the sushi which was next to hot food rookie move!

I was really disappointed in this restaurant. The beer was served in plastic glasses! The Asian section of food was really hard to understand which was which as signs all together on side. The roast meat section had what was I think roast chicken and beef but both were totally floating in fluid that I hadn't seen before. Would not return or recommend to anyone.

Garden Restaurant is awesome great food as well as great staff and a relaxed atmosphere, value for money me and my mum go there every weekend, and its an enjoyable experience the food though amazing great selection from Chinese food and your roasts Beef and pork to seafood salmon prawns mussels salads and the deserts are to die for sticky date pudding yummy. Yes I would rate this buffet all you can eat restaurant is well worth it amazing staff and settings a truly dinning experience service with a smile looking forward to going there this weekend.

Check in was poor the receptionist was very rude. Booked two portable cots and one was broken. And they wouldn't replace the secound. Then the hot water never worked my kids or us couldn't have a bath or shower. I like to add the meal at the resturant was 5star seafood was excellent and boy went up four three main and two desert.

We ate at the Garden bar cafe. The food was great.

Wow what a place of different world.

Good clean room with all facilities, rooms probably getting in need of some TLC but perfectly acceptable for the price, and meal at the restaurant very nice. Was a bit concerned as had read some poor reviews for the restaurant, but the food was good, hot and plenty of variety and regularly replenished. Only issue was someone had left the lid off the soup, but that was a guest, not the restaurants fault, and the service was great.

I have frequantly stayed in motels/hotels in both New Zealand and Australia over the last five years. This is the first time I have been compeled to write a review. Rooms well below acceptable standards. Cleanliness an issue along with room layout. Bathrooms dirty and paint peeling from skirtings — booked a two bedroom unit only to find a curtain seperating queen bed and single beds with the main bed in the lounge — no side tables on the beds — kitchen had a very small bench top oven and was dirty — however there was a small pot to boil an egg. Would not recommend this establishment for either the business traveller or family.

Loved staying here, the motels were beautifully decorated, well equipped kitchen, were very accommodating of our needs (4 single beds, not your usual request! ) and had a lovely joint garden with the other motel rooms next to us. We didn't go to the restaurant, but made our own food in the kitchen and found it to be very well furnished. Our stay was over new years eve, and yet we were not disturbed by any noise overnight. Great motel, would stay again.

Can not believe last review. Garden resturant is the tops, go there often and love the food, service and surroundings. As for " asian tourists" no more than anywhere else. 9.5 out of 10.

Very poor. Caters for the asian tourist market everything is done at a budget level.
