Room was tidy and easy to access. Good, well maintained facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I wanted a coffee, so I grabbed one from their streetwise cafe. It was so good I had to grab another. The staff member was awesome. Great ginger crunch. Ta.

Good value for money… nice food!

I came to CHCH from Tauranga after traveling South Island 5 5 months with my male friend in his own 7mtr self contained Motorhome. I have to be back in Auck 29th June for Surgery so decided to buy my own self contained Van. I met my friends who live here in the cafe below for tea. SKYE'S amazing! She made the most awesome cuppachino EVER. The beef burger was to die for only $12 with loads of salad & wedges. Turns out that I was able to park in the Carpark for $10 a night with 24 hr access to all the facilities amenities inc 400MB free data. I cook tea upstairs watch TV chat to locals backpakers alike & then go downstairs and sleep in my Van when I'm ready. This is an awesome place clean tidy friendly and SAFE! Especially being a female now venturing out on my own I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Now on my journey forward I'll be judging all other places by Point Breaks standards.

Checked in for two nights, when I got upstairs and got on the Wi-Fi (which they say is free, but they only give you a set amount of data) I immediately realized I had messed up the dates and only needed one night. Tried therefore to get a refund for the second night but they only said no refund. Bad customer service, don’t stay here.

It's a cheap hostel with a great reception and cafe staff. Room had very wobbly bunk beds. Male showers could use new shower heads, on the other hand, the old ones give a nice shoulder massage. Plenty of hot water. Most people were not very respectful of night time noise, but hey, what can you expect. Mattress was surprisingly okay.

Stopped in for a coffee and daughter had an iced chocolate. Both were amazing. Will be back soon to try the delicious cafe food.

I'll eat or have a coffee at the attached cafe whenever I'm in New Brighton, the food is really good, plus it's well priced! The coffee is good too.

Excellent service went for a coffee this afternoon and it was beautiful even offered to make my toddler a fluffy which she thoroughly enjoyed thank you so much Skye.

This is the cheapest single room I could find so the squeaky prison bed wasn't a surprise. The tourists next door sounded like they were smashing hammers on my wall. Fan was broken and TV didn't work if that was even a TV in there. Cheap, secure and kinda clean. What more could you want. Also there's no good internet ($10 for 1GB) so I wouldn't recommend staying here if you need more than 100mb.

I stayed here about 10 months ago and forgot to write a review. My stay was amazing, I loved the food from the cafe and the staff were really nice. If there was an issue, it would be fixed within the hour I would recommend to anyone.

Had a hot chocolate. Not great, have a taste of water, not chocolate.

Allright place for a hostel. 100MB INTERNET per day — gone soon! (Go to the library! ) Friendly stuff — sometimes weird people/guests who stay (might be people with special needs/alcoholics. Etc. With long term stay) kitchen is more or less ok to use — depens on the guests! ; Heater does not realy work and in winter its very cold in every room!

The cafe seems alright and the staff is friendly but the hostel itself is in a shameful state especially considering how expensive it is. The toilets are disgusting, rooms are untidy and the walls are thin enough that you'll hear anything your neighbor does. The kitchen is nice but the dishes are dirty more often than not. Would have rated higher if it was cheaper.

Don't know how they have managed so many fake 5 star reviews here but I stayed there with family recently and honestly it is a very dirty and unhealthy accomodation. Staff is friendly and welcoming but the facilities are too filthy, from kitchen to bathroom, everything is so unhyginic that you just wanna be stuck in your room or outside travelling. As someone else has commented, they definitely have drug / alcohol addicts staying on long term agreement. So, if you can ignore all those facts to save some money then you will be fine but for someone wanting to spend a few days with a group while on holiday I would strongly suggest spending some more money and find a holiday home or something.

I would not recommend anyone to stay at this place. It is dirty and badly managed. They have drug addicts and alcoholics who stay in this hostel on long term agreements.

Great place to go for lunch or afternoon tea, great coffee, good food, and wonderful staff. Have had a look round the whole place and highly recommend any visitors to stay.

This small hostel is located about 20 minutes from the Centre. A little rancid looks at first glance, but if you left the hallway behind and enters the room, it is perfectly alright. The kitchen and the dining room go clear, however with smears. The hobs need what to keep. Also there seems to be popular not to make, what immediately strikes the lack of cups and small spoons his dishes with some backpackers. It is just he removed 2 minutes ' walk from the beach, especially in the evening, offer great-looking pier. (Is lit, so absolute tip after sunset to watch him). The sanitary facilities must be clear as is cleaned every day. However, the showers are not always the cleanest.

Great service, great food, nice relaxing cafe.

The dorm doors bang alot throughout the day and night so you dont get much peace and quiet, the doors are rigged to band shut. Hostel dorms are kept clean. Its a relatively quiet place off the main road close to beach with waves.

The kitchen was a bit dirty, otherwise nothing out of ordinary for this price. Free breakfast and a nice café downstairs.

I'm staying in a two person shared room because the rest of Christchurch is booked out for some cricket thing. I put my estimated time of arrival as 9pm. I got there not long after 9:30, the guy gave me a smiling hard time about being late. The bus took longer to get there than I thought. I was exhausted. He also kept talking and talking and told me impatiently that if I wanted to buy more Wi-Fi and I would have to tell him, like, now because he was closing up soon. My exhaustion didn't register in his mind. The place has no lift and my suitcase was very heavy, it also has awkward narrow hallways and doors. I couldn't handle the stairs and a fellow guest took pity on me and took my suitcase up. My room is a cupboard with bunk beds. The other person already had the bottom one. I have sore joints and constant vertigo, I struggled to get up to the top bunk. In the morning, my feet were sweaty and the bunk ladder is very thin rounded metal and my feet were slipping on it. It felt dangerous. For some strange reason they put a table and chair in there, that pretty much cramped up what little floor space there is. The person I am sharing the room with talked almost all night. I finally got to sleep and then got woken up at 4:30 in the morning seeing this girl standing there staring at me, not one metre from my face. I yelled out thinking it was an attacker. She then told me off for the noise.

It's a basic backpacker, close to The beach but it Is far from The airport and far from the city entre, you can't go from the airport to the backpacker by bus, you have to take a cab.
