Absolutely fantastic place. Staying in self contained apartment next to house, sharing with another couple. Excellent value for money, super clean, far exceeded expectations. Out of city, bus from airport. Purple bus get off at St John's rd (ferry rd is the main rd) walk down St Johns to end, take a left and first house on corner. $4. /8 Go into Sumner beach, next stop down on same bus! Cheers Haka!

Check in was really easy. Showers were nice and clean. Only downfall was the location.

Super cozy beds and friendly staff. Nice garden with barbecue. Beautiful lounge room with large TV. The only pain is that is quite far from city center (15min bus, purple line, plus 10 min walk).

Great place for foreign visitors, or people only staying in chch for a night. Has a strict no children allowed policy. So if you have children this isn't an option but if you're a couple that like child-free environments then this is definitely worth considering. Only thing is, this is more of a hostel style living. Shared bathrooms and showers (unsure of ensuite options) and a shared kitchen/dinning area. Great vibrant staff. Has free Wi-Fi and great outdoor seating spaces. Not so great parking though. Very limited space.

Cheap accommodation available here with good service. We called ahead to make sure there was a room available and rocked up within an hour. Thanks Haka Lodge.

Rooms are well equipped and clean. Common spaces are very nice! The hostel is quiet and in a beautiful setting. One down side is it is a little far from the CBD. However there are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.

Nice little hostel with friendly staff. Room a little light polite, small and dark. Location by car no problem. All clean.

Love the place, cozy and welcoming. Great place if you feel like unwinding. Clean kitchen and bathrooms.

Great hostel, very nice rooms, with warm beds, free towels and clean bathrooms. There was always freshly baked scones in the hangout room, and the people working there was super friendly!

The Haka Lodges are some of the best hostels in NZ, and this one was no exception. The facilities are really quite good for hostel standards.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money. Will be booking again in future. Clean facilities. A good wee drive from town but that is reflected in the price you pay (good value).

Best hostel we have stayed in since we arrived in NZ a couple of months ago. Rooms are immaculate, bed comfortable. Shower areas are modern and spotlessly clean. Good kitchen, large lounge with new comfortable sofas, good plasma TV with sky sports! Staff very relaxed and friendly. Definitely worth booking if in Christchurch.

This is the best hostel in Christchurch. Everyone here is very welcoming and eager to help you any way they can.

Beautiful hostel! Very cosy, clean and well priced! We would defiantly stay here again! Street parking was available and the staff super friendly! In regards to the review below this Hostel is not in the CBD however its merely a short drive to get to the CBD or a bus if that's what your after, we had no issues with the Wi-Fi was free for us the whole time.

I was quite disappointed with my experience. It is quite a lovely abode and has potential, but the value is sub par. It is quite a bit further than most of the other hostels in the city, and uncomfortable and inconvenient walk. The "free" internet is a hoax. You get minimal "free" internet access to start off with, and loads of packages you can purchase afterwards. But I didn't even get to use my free internet — half of my stay the internet did not work for me or any other guest, and the main staff were beyond unhelpful and frankly rude. There are definitely better christchurch hostels for similar prices. Spend the extra 3 bucks and you won't regret it.

Had a great stay at Haka Lodge! We were there at winter and it was a very cold and rainy day and the kitchen was a bit cold in the morning. But warm water in the shower did really balance that. Windows are a bit thin, so you could hear the street a bit, but all houses in NZ are not very much insulated as at our home. Staff was nice and friendly.

This place was awesome! The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the lodge was so comfortable and homey! I'm definitely highly recommending this to everyone I know. Thanks Haka Lodge for a wonderful time. Cheers.

Excellent hostel, comfy beds, clean and quiet. Staff really friendly and nice lounge area complete with wood burning fire. Regularly stay there on my visits to CHC.
