Stayed in Avonhead Garden Motel in ChCh last night. On our arrival we were greeted at the taxi door by host Amanda who helped with our bags to reception & room. Our large warm studio unit was beautiful with small vases of fresh flowers, a hand written welcome note, chocolates on each pillow and fresh home baked cookies which are delicious. They have a small basket of items for purchase if you want chips cereal fizzie, M & Ms or single snack Pasta & choc bar priced very reasonably at $2 each. Most places would charge at least $4 if available at all. The kitchen had oil & soy sauce quality sea salt & peppercorns instead of the usual tiny packaged S&P. They also offer a free ride (if prebooked) to the train station 15mins away.
I totally recommend this motel to anyone visiting ChCh. Lovely people very friendly and helpful.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The proprietors of this lovely motel are the most amazing, generous and friendly couple. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and nicely renovated. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I recommend them highly. Thanks Amanda and Gary :)

Friendly, generous & thoughtful host. (We even found an onion & a pack of cube stock in the pantry) Beautiful, tidy, clean & homely unit and garden (big grassy area). Would come again next time.

Love staying here. So quiet as not on the main road and down a drive. Arrived home tonight after a wet cold snap outside and the electric blanket was on. How thoughtful!

Outstanding Motel complex, we call it the hidden gem! Roomy, tidy, modern, warm, heaps of room for the kids. Was great, and Gary and his staff were very helpful.

Had a great stay here for three nights. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the facilities were excellent! Gary, who looks after the place, was very friendly and helpful with anything you may need. Couldn't ask for any better! 10/10

Avonhead Lodge Motel should be granted 10 stars. It has a homie design, very tidy and clean. From each single detail you would see that it is being run by very talented loving hearts. Site. Normal. Clean. Take it easy.

Great accommodation nestled only 15 from centre of town but is close enough to the airport as to not miss your flights. Open spacious rooms that suit everyone's needs. Open outside area for general socialising with others or family and friend's. Owners are amazing people that help where they can.

Top accommodation. Best hosts ever. Really helpful with what to do in Christchurch and anything I wanted was accommodated. Really friendly family business :)

Clean and friendly. We were there for a conference at the Race course and they kindly dropped me off as it was raining.

We loved this place, amazing hosts so thoughtful and go that extra mile without even us asking, very clean and comfortable, it was truly lovely and even down to the little things, chocolates on the beds and beautiful flowers around the place, these guys very clearly love what they do even brought us airport departure forms over. I can't recommend this motel enough! Amanda and Gary provide a level of hospitality that is second to none! The rooms are absolutely spotless, smell gorgeous and a fantastic size. Feels like a home away from home. You have everything you need to cook meals, Sky TV, free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and a beautiful garden that even hosts a BBQ for use. The location is fantastic with many shops just down the road. You really couldn't ask for anything more in a motel. A must stay whilst in Christchurch!

Very spacious, most comforable, exceptionally clean. Friendly, caring and helpful hosts. Secluded, quiet, picturesque grounds with lovely gardens. Great self catering amenities. have stayed all over the world in good accommodation and this is on a par. Excellent — thank you Pauline and Pete.

I would just like to say that I had a great experience staying at the Avonhead Lodge Motel. The Hosts were very friend and hospitable. I would definitely recommmend the Avonhead Lodge Motel to anybody.
