This was very clean and had great Kitchenettes in all 3 rooms we tried during our time in Christchurch. They were so friendly and helpful and so accomodating during the COVID-19 pandemic. They offered us a longterm rate to shelter during the lockdown until we could make arrangements to return to the USA. We would definitely comeback here to stay when we visit NZ again or reccomend anyone stay here.

I’m a frequent business visitor to the Airport Gateway and am always welcomed & looked after. I hurt my knee recently and they changed my booking to a ground floor room with no bother.
The restaurant menu has just been updated and I’m a big fan of the new food. It’s simple but cooked well with great flavours.

Do not recommended.
Made me sit in hot car waiting2 hours for checkin, where as the day earlier let me pay for early checkin,
staff was rude and unhelpfull.

We are thrilled to be resting in this lovely motel awaiting our flight home to Australia tomorrow. Morgan at reception was so lovely, helpful, informative, professional and very accommodating with our requirements. She is a real asset to this business. The motel offers a transfer to the airport and they even picked us up today from our RV drop off. There is a restaurant with a good menu. The rooms are well equipped, lovely decor and very comfortable. Thank for having us … cheers Room 704

Just had one night in transit at this motel, great value, excellent shuttle service and our driver was friendly, helpful and happy. Modern room, toasty warm for our cold late night arrival… driver on hand at 5.30 am to get us back to the airport… excellent, thanks heaps.

Dated room. Bathroom for family very disappointing. Restaurant was great. Ok for one night.

Fantastic food the chef must be complemented thankyou for fast service and friendly could not have asked for better a must to visit.

The suites have their own kitchen area (with fridge & microwave) so could be used as a base for touring or great for an overnight stay. The restaurant does really good meals, too.

Lovely clean rooms, so close to the airport with a shuttle service working stupid hours and helpful staff making your transitions so much easier and did I mention the best feed ever in the restaurant!

All staff were wonderful from the shuttle pick up late at night to check out the following day. The unit (one of the modern studios) was clean, very comfortable, very warm and although it backed up on to the busy road we were not bothered by the noise. Had a visit from a sweet little cat too :) Will be staying again.

No fuss, pick up from the airport any time of the day or night. Nothing better than walking into your at. Midnight and someone was thoughtful enough to have the heater going for you.

Absolutely lovely staff, check in/out was super easy. Room was clean and fairly big. Location was five minutes from the airport with complimentary shuttle service, would definitely stay here again!

Perhaps the very best place I stay. Great service and high quality units. Even the glassware is high quality. Impressed.

Book the business upgraded rooms. Well designed. Huge TV. Fantastic bathroom with undertile heating. Good wee kitchenette. Room to sit for a meal. Comfy bed with lots of pillows. Good reception service. Wake up calls. Shuttle to airport. Recommend if catching early morning flight.

Great location in regards to the airport. We arrived at 1am and the we were picked up within mins of calling and the guy was up there with the friendliest we came across on our time in NZ. Thanks.

Have stayed in three different rooms over a couple of years. Last stay 2 nights ago. All rooms well appointed, very clean and tidy. Both visits had middle of the night air port shuttle pick up. This is a great service. Room service was good and the quickest service I have ever had. I would recommend the Airport Gateway to all my friends heading over the ditch to Christchurch.

Great service, nice rooms. We had dinner here as well whixh was good. Beds super comfy and really close to the airport.

Excellent airport pick up & drop off service no matter what time — excellent rooms with helpful staff — easy bus access to city centre — a great place to stay before you leave — wlt.

Worst motel ever. Really disappointed about the manager here. I booked the room for 2 of my customers and I knew the normal check out time is 10:00am so I double checked the time with the receptionist that we can check out on 11:00am next day without extra fee. I also saw her write down this information on the notice book. But the other day when I went to ask tax invoice I saw an extra dollars on the hour from 10:00 to 11:00. I asked the manger to check the notice book but he refused and yelled at me because he is the owner he is the manger here and he will charge me on my credit card information directly which I provided to them before. Then I asked him to maybe check with the receptionist. But he refused again and the reason is she is not working today. I am not hoping this can be done on that day. But could you just say you will check with her later. Lastly, he smashed the invoice paper said "done" fiercely. I was really really scared, speechless and angry on what he did on me and I never ever met a person like him in Christchurch. Worst experience, definitely the worst.

Make sure you get one of the boutique or superior studio rooms, but the service is very good and the restaurant does the basics right.

Staff awesome. Rooms spacious. However rooms whilst superbly clean are very dated and not a good look to have so many static vents in bathroom toilet room and need one decent sized handrail getting into very dated bath surround. Loved the atmosphere. Awesome food apart from tough pork had last night.

Don’t stay here even with confirmation they will just cancel your booking and when you turn up they will just say they have sold your room. No customer service and no compassion. 11pm and turned away to sleep at the airport. Disgusting.

Seems to be a nice place to stay, really close to the airport. My friend stayed here for few days and she's really liked it here.

Stayed there on the last night of an 11 day driving holiday. The best hotel of the lot we had stayed in over that 11 days. Rooms larger than most. Kitchen area great. The BEST shower. Dinner at the restaurant was lovely. Bed comfortable and a very good sized tv. The shuttle to the airport at 4.40am was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Motel+. Good size modern clean rooms at a fair rate. We had room 517, a second level king studio just to the left of the entrance, for three nights. Although road adjacent, the rooms all face inwards so there was very little road noise. The bathroom is a good size for two people. The kitchenette was well stocked. Bed was good and firm. Electric blankets, but with a thick enough underlay that you can't feel the wires (personal bugbear). Heat pump. Highly recommend this place as an alternative to an airport hotel. As an airport proximal accommodation, the location is not ideal. The only place to eat in the evenings nearby is the on site restaurant, which closes at 9.30. Perhaps dinner is OK, but breakfast and coffee is mediocre. I don't hold this against them as they're clearly trying, but they definitely could do a lot brute. Luckily there is a nearby Cafe ("43 degrees") that is open from 7.30 week days. All in all, good experience.

Great accommodation. 24 hour reception. Airport pickup. Long stay parking. Our preferred airport accomodation. Reception and staff are always friendly and helpful.

Stayed here ~3 years ago for 2 weeks whilst EQ repairs were being done in our family home. They unit was clean and tidy (although a bit dated) and the staff were very pleasant to deal with. I would certainly recommend this motel to visitors waiting for a late night/early morning departure, or for others in similar situations to ourselves.

Some of the best customer service I've experienced! Authentic customer care from the three lovely staff we had direct contact with, especially CC, working the front desk. She is a credit and asset to this place and a genuine soul. Food was great and it was fantastic affordable accomodation Thank you!

Stayed at both ends of our trip to get the free parking. Very helpful staff; especially on our return at 2am (after a delayed flight) — couldn't do enough to help. Slightly dated facilities but we weren't there long enough for that to be a problem.

The worst experience ever with this motel. They charged over $200 on our credit card for a night that they incorrectly booked for a month too early. First I knew I had been charged was with an email saying we hope you enjoyed your stay. Trying to sort it out — no one would call me back, communication is so below average. No apology, finally told I will be given $100 back, when it was a mistake through no fault of our own. The night we should have been booked for was in order for me to stay there the night before our wedding. This has been the worst experience. We have four children there is a lot more we could spend that money on but instead it's been thieved. Would never recommend staying here.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.

The motel took my credit card number when I checked in. Then I paid by Eftpos but my credit card was also charged $145, after I had specifically been told it wouldn't be charged. Two long phone calls to the Motel and it hasn't been sorted out yet. I expect it will be but this shouldn't happen. Something to watch out for, otherwise the Motel was fine.

We had the chance to stay at Airport Gateway Motor Lodge, Christchurch for 30 nights in 2002. The motel is excellent. The owner with his whole family look after the guests. I am amazed by the witty comments from the owner" No fish from Queenstown, No breakfast would be served ". I am happy to let him know my gratitude after 7 years.
