Stayed at a villa at Terrace Downs. While the villa was nice the restaurant was unhelpful and did not want to accommodate us because we had not booked with them. Exceptionally poor service and very disappointed. Went to Ski Time in Methven instead and enjoyed a lovely meal and great service.

Venue is great. Staff were wonderful but were obviously groomed to be a bit OTT to the point of being marginally obsequious. Meals were disappointing. While the portions were generous I'd expect better fare for $29 a pop. My beef cheek macaroni was a real space filler but was over cheesy and while the meat was fall apart tender there was little taste to it. My dining partners fish was bland, the fillets so thin that they lost heat quickly and the accompanying coleslaw over creamy. Having said that on another day and with something else chosen off the menu you got the feeling the experience might be quite different.

We just spent 2 nights at the resort and absolutely would recommend to others. Fabulous, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent accommodation in the villa. Fantastic meals and good wine available. Lovely golf course. We only played 9 holes because the fog came in — it was still very enjoyable and fun — especially finding your ball 🤔We highly recommend.

Highly recommended. Staff where amazing, made you feel like family. Pip we will be back.

We spent two nights here before Easter weekend. The staff were very professional and accommodating. Excellent food and service. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. The continental breakfast was divine with the chefs own special granola mixture. The bed was comfortable and the view over the 18th hole was stunning. Excellent Wi-Fi coverage but with those views there was no need for screen time — it was all relaxation. Will definitely make this a regular journey. Even though we don’t golf this was a resort all can enjoy.

Dinner last night at The Clubhouse was fantastic, great service and stunning view.

We've just come home from a lovely Fathers Day buffet lunch. A great atmosphere, wonderful food and attentive staff made for a very enjoyable and memorable day. We will most definitely be back.

Stunning place and incredible views. The heating in our room was great which was needed as it was around — 5°C outside. Be aware that there is no reception after certain hours so no one will pick up your calls. We tried to out the Wi-Fi code as it wasn't written down anywhere in the room as we expected and call all available numbers on the land-line phone: reception, room service, conceirge, none of which picked up. It was around 9pm however. Otherwise a great stay.

Beautiful location and lovely views. Although the food was not good at all, at the restaurant and for room service. I think the place really needs to get this under control I could make better at home. And the fire gas heater didn’t work.

Most of the staff were just lovely, I ordered streamed juicy prawns and when it arrived they were tiny little shrimp from a bag. They were happy to replace it with another option off the menu… the Salmon was very average… expected allot better from such a beautiful place as Terrace Downs.

High Tea at Terrace Downs I was taken for a High Tea today by my son. I have had High Teas in the UK & Canada, the Terrace Downs version is up there with the best. They even allowed us to have flat white coffees! We had so much food, we took the excess pastries home!

Great place to stay Gorgeous. Sorry l was unable to get a margarita. Was so looking forward to a cocktail prior to a classy dinner. Something to be considered. Also temperature in the bar /restaurant was chilly. Very uncomfortable.

Nice place to stay, great views of the southern alps, I don't play golf so can not rate the course, but the course looked well groomed.

Stunning mountain and rural countryside views are complemented by the resort's full array of outdoor activities, included amongst them is the chance to play a terrific 18-hole championship golf course.

Great views expensive but nice food.

Unfortunately the service is apalling! Which they continually displayed. This was very disappointing considering the cost to stay there. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

On Saturday 10th we got married at Terrace Downs Resort.
It was absolutely the most spectacular day and went totally without a hitch! Terrace Downs is the most magical setting to get married in! We arrived on Friday with all of our family, bridal party and friends for a relaxing start to the weekend. The boys went and played golf, while we drank wine and got manicures! The night of the wedding almost all of our guests stayed at Terrace Downs and joined us for brunch on Sunday…, making our whole wedding span over three days which was the best decision we made! Being an hour and a half away from Christchurch encouraged our guests to make the most of the weekend and treat themselves to a luxury night away, but was still close enough to Home that others were able to come and go for the day. Thoroughly recommend! Ash who is the wedding planner at Terrace Downs is so organised, so lovely and was an absolute dream to work with!

Take a trip up to Lake Coleridge and come here for a quality luncheon. Classic alpine architecture, views in the lower Southern Alps to die for, well laid out. Golf course looks great for all you golfees!

Beautiful location close to Mt Hutt. Villa accommodation with Mountain views and restaurant, golf, and other facilities on site. Set in sprawling country side the well equipped villas provide great holiday accomodation with e erything you will need.

Amazing part of New Zealand. We were part of a corporate group. The activity afternoon — archery, golf targets, two types of shotgun (clay target) shooting, gumboot tossing and target soccer were brilliant. This all followed by a sumptious christmas dinner which rounded our day off magnificently.

We traveled out from Chch to celebrate my father's birthday. The Sunday buffet was 'ok'.
I was surprised there were only 2 average salads. And some mixed steamed vegetables as sides.
The prawns, mussels And proteins were nice. Not great but ok.
The desserts were very much below average for the $49 per head.
The Pavlova and cheesecake were obviously caterers pack/ brought in. And the choc cake possibly also. Apart from some bowls of again mass produced sauces (coulis, but…terscotch and chocolate) and chopped up melon that was it.
No cheese board.
Sadly, not worth the petrol and $.
The view was great.

Playing to a niche market of the wealthy overseas tourist Terrace downs seems to struggle to maintain the quality of service and experience often found in high class resort locations. Without a regular flow of customers the staff lack the finesse that there price demands. Beautiful locations, comfortable and well appointed accommodations, just manage your expectations of food and service.

What a letdown. Three of our group had the steak which was off and had to be returned for different meals. The other meals whilst not rotting, nowhere near measured up to this plane's reputation or exorbitant prices.

Fast and friendly service, drove from central Christchurch to enjoy lunch here — the coffee was of note whilst the food was as expected for the price.

Several times we have ended up in here after skiing, with a mug of hot chocolate and some snacks. The view is incredible. Plus, the buffet on Sundays is quite nice too, and fairly priced.

A bit over rates. Owned by overseas investors. But I'm an amazing location.

Expensive, but well worth a treat.
