Great location Park across the road with Shells petrol station also takeaways not too far from hotel and zaandam shopping centre is at a 30min walking distance perfect place for anyone I highly recommend.

Loved it there was helpful and clean and tidy and the bar was good.

Great welcome from the staff, the rooms simple but comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

My husband booked it over Booking. Com and somehow it came that he could not register our two kids. So he made a memo at the end saying that we are travelling with our two kids 7 and 3.
As we arrived the staff mentioned that the room is small and only has two single beds. As we said that we are used to share the bed with our kids and wouldn’t mind that, she agreed and took the credit card. As we came to the room it became clear that the beds were not a problem but that the room was so small that we could not bring our luggage in as well, so went down and asked for another room in maybe one of the other bastion hotels. The staff contacted the management and as I understand a bit of Dutch I could hear that they had the information about the kids but no other room for us but to complete the disaster they told us that we couldn’t even stay the next night due to security guidelines. We understood this but what we can not understand that we have to pay the the one night. To summarise it, they threw us out with two children, didn’t help to find another room although it was almost eight in the evening and told us that we have to pay that night.

I also booked one night on booking. Com.
The website accepted my pay, took money from my bank account but send me a mail to say the reservation was refused. I had to pay twice. Explained my case when I arrived. The receptionist was rude and it seems like she didn’t want to help me. Send 3 mails. Still didn’t got my money back…

A bit out of the way from central, so I suggest looking at buses but apart from that… the hotel itself was nice and clean, the staff were helpful and nice.

Terrible hotel, way too expensive for what it offers. We couldn’t dare to add breakfast to that huge price. We only booked it because all good hotels in Amsterdam (for normal budgets) were already fully booked for 14-15-16 April. We usually go for Van der Valk. It was my birthday and I wanted to spend it with my family in Amsterdam. We were a group of 6 people.
Small rooms — dirty walls, extremely small bathroom — wrongly installed sink, it impossible to wash your face without having water on your feet. Transparent door at bathroom. They cleaned our room, took away the towels and did not put any other towels for the second day.
Never again in this hotel!

Lovely staff. I wasnt actually staying in this hotel but I bought breakfast from here which was a lovely range. Hot food, cold food, cereals, tea/coffee etc. Great selection.

Good hotel. I Will Come back. But you need to pay the breakfast, and its expensive and not worty.

Good hotel, nice clean rooms 2 single beds in. Our room, mattress a bit on the soft side plus one pillow which can be difficult esp if used to sleeping with 2pillows, en suite shower clean as well a bit on the small side but it was ok, sink a bit shallow but ok to use clean towels offered, mini fridge in room, great staff very helpful, hotel on the main bus route from zaandam station so easy to access, area quiet and safe at night, yes would definitely stay here again. Oh yes free wi fi.

Thr hotel smells bad like in a bar where the people were smoking. The room has the walls dirty with lots of paints and stains and smells bad too. I paid too much. I prefer a cheaper hotel with clean rooms and good oddors.

The hotel staff was nice, the rooms were clean and well maintained. Free welcome drink at the bar are very much appreciated. The only issue with this hotel is that it was located a bit far from the Amsterdam city and the most convenient mode of transportation were the buses. Ahh yes, and the washrooms were too small. Me personally, I didn't like the washbasin at all. There were some serious design flaws in the washbasin. The water didn't drain properly and kept dropping on the bathroom floor.

The service and food was great. Too much spinach for me but tasty. Yum.

Very small rooms, washroom cleanliness not upto mark. Not worth more than euro 60-70 per night. Due to heavy rush, we were charged 160 per night.

No information about the breakfast times, conditions are not refilled. Bathroom not cleaned. There was no clue about renovation work for several months! Construction noise! Attention! No goodwill from the unfriendly staff possible. Next time we'll book somewhere else.

Really a last resort in Zaandam. Not a nice location and far from restaurants and the town. Beside a busy road. Not so good dining room and poor value for money. Room and staff ok.

Really good hotel with lots of onsite parking and local transport links.

Smokingroom/smoke in the lobby. A lot of noise at night. From other guests in the hallway, but also from the ventilator and the minifridge. We had to switch rooms, because the toilet didn't flush.

Smells like cigarette inside the rooms, really small bathrooms and the floor in the room needs to be a bit cleaner. There is a bus stop 1 minute away from the hotel so that's great.

Right next to a bus stop. The ground floor restaurant was great. Room was comfortable bud the beds were a bit stiff. Bathroom is clean and accommodating. Lighting, outlets, and television were all great.

The Hotel is ok, the rooms and toilets are small and it is about a +2km walk into zaandam centre. The staff are efficent and courteous. The Wi-Fi is free and also good 5G Hz.

We arrived at around 9:00 pm. The room is clean, neat. There are everything water bottle, tv, airconditioner, safe box, fridge… except slippers. But it's okay. You can go barefood in the room. The floor is made of wood as almost rooms in Holland. Like this hotel!

The service was amazing, the staff were so lovely and friendly. The location was perfect, not too busy and not too quiet, quite close to fast food restaurants aswell.

Top Hotel, room is great and the food is very tasty, if a man looks at the prices in Amsterdam it is really cheap here in zaandam. At any time gladly again.

The hotel receptionist when I was checking in was very unfriendly. She looked like I was bothering her instead of trying to do her job. We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and during those three nights our rooms were not cleaned. On the first day, housekeeping didn't even bother to come in and clean our room or replace towels even though we had requested it. The next day, house keeping did come into the room and clean the bathroom but literally placed the bed spread on top of the bed without making the bed and did not take out the trash or anything. I have honestly never been at a hotel that cared so little about the comfort of their customers. The bastion group has a chain of hotels in Europe and based on this one experience, I will never stay at another bastion hotel. Beware of dirty rooms.

Nice place, very comfortable but a little dirty near the window. This hotel has a free billiard pool and nice bar. Twin room is big! Free Wi-Fi, not to fast. No convenience store around though.

+ Comfortable and clean room with fridge and big bathroom. Big parking area, public bus stop. The restaurant is small, but food is fresh and tasty. — The curtains in the bathroom were dirty, but others was ok and clean.

The room is partially covered with dust. The fridge has mold. Under the table dirty. In my view, has to do nothing with a star Hotel. Too bad.

Excellent value for money. A bit far from the city centre of Amsterdam but very well connected.

Small, nice Hotel. Just outside of Amsterdam, a cheap way, the simple Overnight stay. The Service is very good, helpful and polite. Somewhat noisy location at a major crossroads. Room size is perfect. Breakfast Buffet sufficient.

The room was dirty, the floor, the toilet… We found razors in the bath from other guests, better not to talk about the wc. Friendly staff, but on my opinion they should offer a free breakfast.

If you don't want to spend a fortune on your stay in Amsterdam and don't mind staying far from the city centre, this is the hotel for you. Very comfortable, clean and well-equipped rooms, English-speaking staff, two bus stops just outside the hotel. Tip — if the 25 minute bus ride to Amsterdam was boring for you, get off the bus at the stop "Klaprozenweg" and take a ferry to Amsterdam for free.
