Company does not act when they receive complaints. My 2 roommates and I complained several times about a Dutch guy living in the house who took drugs, stole things from other residents, drumming and other noise at 3:00AM, never cleaned (mold IN fridge, poop stains toilet, shower cabin turned orange due to some kind of bacteria we assume, mites in trash, etc. ). The woman who works at StudentStay several times did not give a damn — saying afterall it’s a “student house” and that the Dutch guy was in the right basically. Besides that, when things are broken the company either does not react or reacts and comes by after 2 (! ) weeks (broken toilet seat, broken window, broken dishwasher, trash container outside stolen). It often seemed like they prefered Dutch people over foreign ones (many other people feel that that’s the case by the way). If you’re looking for a place in Leeuwarden try a different agency or the FaceBook group of “Leeuwarden Housing Market” since StudentStay is unreliable and over priced.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. First of all, they have been doing constructions and renovations for months. This means they hate constantly moving people from their room (which is a breach in contract, might I add), noisy from all hours of the day including weekends, the water and electricity never works anymore in the kitchen, and the washing machines are usually broken. Although the construction workers are incredible nice, the entire corporation of student stay could not care less about their tenants. When I emailed them about not having water and electricity, their response was “well, what do you expect us to do? ” Avoid Student Stay at all costs. There are plenty of much cheaper and furnished apartments and flats around Leeuwarden. Stay away!

Two of my colleagues stay here and we all have a bad experience. The laundry room is always dirty and the dryer machine sometime does not work. One friend of mine lost his bike in a parking area and Student Stay does not want to involve. Super expensive (150euro for the admission fee when you register at first) while the furniture is cheap and the room is small. There is one feedback I receive from my colleague: She live in building C, pay around 500euro per month to share one small apartment with three other girls, with no living room, one small kitchen and one small fridge (for 4 people). They all regret to sign one year contract with Student Stay and they do not want to come back.

Today at 13:00 I went to Student Stay office to talk about my period of stay with the employee; however, the Dutch girl who works there suddenly leaved the office and asked everyone get out so she will close the office (even though it is 1pm and it is still a working hour). I was really shocked and asked if I can talk to her really quick but she actually said no. Personally, I think it was such an unprofessional behavior that an employee can do in front of the guest. And then when she closed the office, everyone has to stayed outside while the weather is around 29 degrees (in Holland). It is not a first time I had a bad experience with this girl — and also another Student Stay employee. There was a time when I received a mail about the tax, I went to the office and met this girl. She was really rude and gave me a lot of attitude and it made me feel so frustrated. There are two main people who work in Student Stay office (one girl and one boy) but I dont now why the girl always acts so rude to people.

I've stayed here on one occasion and I was really happy with the experience. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the Wi-Fi is great and you get the use of a shared kitchen and bathroom/ shower. There is also a huge car part adjacent to the property. I am planning to stay there again, so they must have got something right.

Awful service, quality of rooms incredibly low especially at kanalstraat and way too overpriced. When I had the room the fridge was filled with mold and the sink was not working. I would not reccomend student stay to anyone and I would have given 0 stars if I could, it is just terrible.

It's the perfect place to enjoy a student life. You meet a lot of people from different countries and you share amazing experiences with them. The location of the residence is just few minutes from the university and the gym, and from the center it's only 10 minutes by bike or also you can go by walk. The rooms are good equipped and also it's available a big laundry room. If you want to have a good exchange year I recommend it.

They don't really care about the student but they do care about student's wallet. They take the deposit under the name of contract. But they didn't let student know about that earlier and the calculation is not clear. I would recommend the other students to find the other rooms to live in LWD.

I'm furious. There is no way of contacting staff before 1pm and they just don't care… I'm waiting for my deposit since July and write emails that appently no one in their office receives. Their service is not worth the costs! I can only advise to search for a more reliable source than StudentStay!
