Such unwelcoming greetings and poor service at the entrance by the security guys, including the badly inspecting guests coming for dinner and saying NO to the ask for help walking out with an umbrella to the car parked outside under the heavy rain. Feeling shocked for experiencing such awful moments at the five-stars hotel’s entryway.

Enjoyed our stay 2020 January we were in corner suites on the top floors overlooking Sule Pagoda road and toward the Railway station. Excellent location to return to in Yangon after 57 years. I remember seeing movies at this location. The Lobby and staff were A1. Enjoyed their well stocked Business Lounge and the Buffet Breakfast should be called a International FEAST. Special thanks to Pastry.

There is only one thing I very felt that I got nothing honeymoon facilities such as romantic bed decoration, honeymoon cake and bouquet. My wedding on (2-2-2020) and I stayed on (13-2-2020). But very thank for Cafe Sule's staffs who they are very familier and care of the customers in dinner and b'fast.

Everything at this hotel is 2 star, from rooms to F&B to fitness center. You pay premium price but get subpar service. I’d rather stay at other hotels close to this hotel and get 2 star service at 2 star price. This is the worst Shangri-la property in the world.

It’s the Sule Shangri-La; a five-star hotel located in Sule; Yangon. All of the staff are friendly & helpful. Agymnasium, swimming pool, and BBQ area are available. I also love the green space surrounding the hotel.

All of the staff are friendly, polite and sincere. Room cleaning is the best. When you look anywhere the area is clean and breakfast has many different country styles of a lot of foods. Laundry service is excellent. The birthday and anniversary cake turned out just like the picture I sent them and it tasted amazing. You pay a lot of money but its really worth. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting, would definitely come here again.

I like it. I have been it at least 10 times in a year especially the receptions of the many embassies. The building is good, the service is nice and the staffs are good — natured.

The hotel was of high quality, but still fell short of its implied luxury experience. The staff were helpful, if a little overbearing at times. I would've rated it 3 stars if I'd been staying here full price, but as the room was heavily discounted I think the quality was probably appropriate. Pictures include view from the top floor, the clarity of which was affected by the window.

Very nice decoration and toilets are clean at summer palace restaurant in this hotel. They cooked very well and delicious meals. Most of the staff are warmly welcome, helpful and kindness. Feel comfortable for our family and me. Especially their staff Ei Soe is very good serve and helpful for our birthday celebration party. I give excellent 5 star for this restaurant.

It was my very first time having lunch with my old students here. The service, the food and the decoration are excellent tho' a bit pricy. It's really nice to see the waiters having good command of English. There's only one thing I feel somewhat uneasy. Arriving rather early, without knowing the opening hours, we're told to wait at the balcony in stead of in the dining room. If it is the customary the door should be kept closed. On the whole, it's really a cozy, pleasant place to spend a lovely afternoon with your loved ones.

I loved staying here. The rooms were good and so was the food. They have a very nice spa and I had a great massage there. Well trained staff who know their job.

The room is kind of old, its time to renovate now. As hotel claims it is five stars hotel. But now it looks like 3-4 stars hotel room. *Bed (mattress) is not comfortable, dull. I have slept softer, more comfortable than this even in 3-4 stars hotels. **Bath tub is too high, it needs to climb to get in the tub. it should have rain shower / glass bathroom wall to see the room like every other new hotels. **However, the service of hotels staffs is very good, acceptable and pleasant.

The quality of their total hospitality service is not matched to 5 Star Hotel. (or other Shangri-La Hotels in other countries)
Nevertheless, one Indian Chef can be appreciated. He very much nicely served me.
I hope the level of the quality being improved.

The hotel was definitely a five star! The staff were very helpful especially concierge, they were always ready to get you a taxi or give you advice where to go in the city. Our room was spacious and the shower was perfect.

Small rooms but facilities of the hotel very good as well as the location is spectacular and the breakfast is wonderful very full excellent hours for the guest.

I really loved to stay in the hotel. The staffs were so kind and helpful. I'd love to stay in the hotel again. But need water in bathroom. Apart from that, all were perfect.

I stayed in suite room 2030 for nine nights with my mom and 2 year old nephew. The room is very spacious with nice decoration, large living area, separate kitchenette room. Room service given by Mr Goal lay is exceptional. He is very helpful, nice and thorough and never hesitate to give any service we want. I really enjoyed staying here and will surely stay again my next visits to Yangon.

Very Very nice place to spend your time on holiday. The room is clean and comfortable. Many kinds of breakfast you can eat. About the fitness center, all trainers are so kind help and advise. I strongly recommend this place for your relaxation.

Olivia at the front desk greeted us always with a smile and figured out what we needed before we did, where we should go and helped us navigate Yangon. Even though we were with a tour we came a few days early and stayed later. She is a jewel and you should be proud she is representing you. Moo Thaw the concierge also made our trip great. We had some places we had not seen after our river cruise ended. He arranged a guide who spoke English, found an air conditioned car and made sure the driver knew what we wanted. Both Olivia and Moo were great.

An excellent Hotel to stay at in Yangoon. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful and smiling. The concierge staff were so helpful at getting taxis, recommending how much we should pay and arranging the prices with the drivers before we left. The massages were wonderful and so reasonable. Breakfasts I can only describe as amazing, you have to see the range of food to believe it! We had an early departing flight and the take away breakfast that was arranged was very, very good.

No complaints. All is good. Very strategic location near to halal eating places, supermarkets, coffee house, clinic etc. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast selection too (I am surprised with the halal selections). The jogging map really help with my morning runs :) The staffs made my stay very comfortable as they handle the check in and check out efficiently.

It is a good hotel. Has expanded a lot of their shopping malls. Keep up with the pace of development of the city.

We have had a very pleasant experience in general. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff. Good sized rooms, clean and quiet. Excellent location. Pleasant lounge area. However, we have major complaints about the bathroom: very difficult to get in and out of the high-rim bath tub (walk-in shower stall preferred), toilet is inefficient, water drains from sink with undesirable noise.

First stayed here when this was Trader's, this was our third or fourth visit; wonderful, helpful staff, well maintained facilities, great location and relatively reasonable prices — what's not to like? Wish the Club offering of food and drink was a bit richer, and its outside guest policy a bit more accommodating, but otherwise no complaints. Keep up the good work, see you next year.

The hotel is close to the Indian quarter and the Sule stupas. Very classy, nice room, shopping arcade with various restaurants and supermarket, breakfast purely extraordinary with an amazing buffet.

A great hotel in a convenient location in Yangon. My room was outstanding in every respect, including spaciousness, cleanliness, amenities. I ate all my breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. Very good restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In particular I would like to mention the concierge, Jason, who was very helpful with a problem I had with an airline reservation and who helped in other ways. I think this must be the best place to stay in Yangon!

Warmly welcomed when I step into Shangri la Hotel, friendly staffs, receptionists and amazing hospitality what more I can say. Book your room before they had fully booked. That hotel exist center of Yangon connecting with brand new mall so that I can buy last minute souvenir before I back to my home.

Room on 6th floor with a roof view… Take always a high floor in that hotel. Service OK. Breakfast OK. Not more than that. Good location, attached to a mall with a good restaurant on it's 2 nd floor. Typical Burmese good food, forgot the name. They accept credit cards (not usual in Burma).

The ever helpful and attendant staff really added to the enjoyment of our stay. Thank you all. Happy New Year.

Very well located and excellent restaurant, nice amenities, we regret the cultural side and information about the nearby visits that are lacking.

Delightful and beautifully appointed hotel. Centrally located. Stayed here about 3 weeks ago for 4 days. We were on the Horizon club room floors. The Horizon Club has 360* view of city. Room was large and very comfortable. Staff friendly, helpful and courteous. They even had a birthday cake made for my spouse's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.

Good centrally located property. Great food and adjacent shopping centre. Good swimming pool and health centre. Nearby shopping food and entertainment.

Nice hotel very convenient location and facilities as it is connected to sule mall with few good stores and a hypermarket in the lower ground floor. The rooms are nice however not very modern for a shangri-la chain standards. The staff are extremely nice and helpful.

Credit from another reviewer- Everyone who wants to book at this hotel, please think twice unless you do not value your live. On 17 May 2017, there was total power black out at this hotel for about 45 minutes. Yes, this is the fact that government power supply in Myanmar is not stable and power failure is very common in Myanmar. But what put all the guests' lives at risk was the hotel's standby generator unable to start during that power failure. Their explanation, announced after investigating later, was there was no diesel at the generator's fuel tank. Please imagine what will happen if fire break out during that 45 minutes. The automatic fire alarm system will not work because the battery pack would have dead after 45 minutes. So the guests will not be alerted for the fire. The automatic fire sprinkler system will not work because there is no power to the fire pumps, so the fire will be spread out very easily and quickly. Smoke will not be extracted out from the hotel because the mechanical ventilation fans will not work as there is no power supply to the fans. So the guests have to inhale the smoke and chocked to dead. So, unless you do not value your live, please do think twice before you book at this hotel. To me, I cannot be convinced even with a free stay.

Great place to stay while on a business visit. Else it's located in the downtown area, so plenty to see around you on case you're a tourist. Good food, friendly services and well appointed rooms.

Myanmar people use to know as Trader Hotel since 1996. Clean and great location in downtown. Friendly and well trained staff.

It's just ok, but not in a good one for me. The best part is it's in the middle of the town. And Their's foods great. But the hotel facilities need more fine quality I think. When you entered, you won't feel like any different from any other place. I mean why it have to spend a lot many on staying even it won't make you impress? The swimming pool is small. Really, it's like teenager's size pool.

Best high end place to stay in Yangon. This one is a bit small as compared to other Shangs.

Buffe style with a huge selection of fish, sushi and all kinds of meat. Food is very well presented and service excellent. They have a broad variety of desserts as well as drinks. Sushi in Myanmar — all good. Well done and good taste. No problem after that meal either. I can recommend this place and would be happy to go here again.

Great Sunday brunch buffet at only USD 36 inclusive of free flow wine and wide range of fresh seafood and desserts. Cooked food was more mediocre. Attentive and friendly staff.

Went there for the brunch on a Sunday. The food is exceptional by Burmese standards, especially the salty food. Sweets and desserts could be improved. Impeccable service. Ludicrous prices for the city, but reasonable as far as palaces go (brunch is $30).

Sule Shangri-La as it is now know has been re-branded and upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars hotel. All guest rooms have been renovated and are now some of the best rooms in Yangon. The hotel offer wide variety of high quality services for business travelers, delegations and leisure travelers. Sule Shangri-La is located downtown within short walk from all services.

A good hotel if you are in Yangon. The staff is very nice, there is far customer. The rooms are large, very clean, with a bathroom very complete, comfortable bed and quiet. It is advisable to pay for access to the zone Concierge of the hotel, since in the afternoon there's a pica pica with cheeses, sandwiches, wine and beer very good. In fact, it can serve as dinner as well put a couple of hot dishes that change every day. The breakfast is also complete. A place to go back to.

Top clean large rooms with all the necessary comforts. Wi-Fi of course perfectly. The ideal address in Yangon.
