You can see the whole city from up here. Even Irrawaddy river. You can either walk or take a car. There are parking spaces up there.

This is a pagoda and a temple situated on top of a hill at Mandalay. Very beautiful views. You can go up to the entrance by vehicle (ample parking available) and climb up to pagoda using elevator (very common in similar pagodas in Myanmar) on the way down you can use stairs so that you can buy a lot of souvenirs. Don't forgot to bargain on price if you are a foreigner (price may 3-4 times higher for a foreigner)

Best place in mandalay 4 stars hotel.

I want to suggest you to watch sunset from here. It is a best place to get above view over Mandalay city, mandalay Palace, Sagaing hills and Irrawaddy river.

Little run down and unkempt. But is so in almost all places there, therefore half as wild:-P Outlook is good, also nice for sunsets. "Entrance" 1000 kyat.

We were lucky enough to arrive in the city and to be transported right away in this amazing temple. The sunset light was the best thing and all the colours of the walls and decorations irradiated brightness and sparkles. The monks were super nice, they came talking to us (to practice their English as we later discovered), they were curious and kind. Amazing experience :-)

It s a nice ride by bicycle to the top. The penultimate platform, a pagoda is very nice and has good views. The best view is one step higher and cost 1000 k extra for foreigners. Toilet 200 k if needed :) Too bad the sun goes down on the side of the huge golf resort which is not so nice really. Other side are beautiful. The trip to the top is worth it more than the view.

360 views. Very nice view of the city, just one of the things you should do in Mandalay. Our driver brought us there just before sunset and it was pretty.

Nice hill and temple, excellent views across the city and to the river. Quite busy during weekends and at sunset/sunrise. Lots of salesman in the temple, and sometimes they seem to charge foreigners $1 to enter, but it seems to depend on their mood…

At the top of the Mountain, there is a Buddha image in Temple. You can see the beauty of Mandalay town's view in nature around the hill. And you can rent scope to look zoom in. Also nice place to take photo with nature background.

Once you reach it, you'll never forget it. Enjoy the city after sun sets for special things.

Mandalay Hill is a stunning beautiful site. Around 1700 steps to manage but it's worth all sweat. The views of Mandalay city up there are spectacular and on the way up there are sites where You can rest have a drink or even a tasty meal. Mandalay hill is major pilgrimage site for over 200 years in Myanmar so please dress polite and act respectful. A legend says that 'Gautama Buddha' once visited Mandalay Hill and he prophesied that in the year 2400 a big city would be built at the foot of Mandalay Hill where his teachings would be spreadened.

It's a great place to enjoy the sunset, but the haze is too heavy. The temple on the top of the mountain is beautiful with sunset.

From memory, as we were told at the entrance, it is about 1700 steps to the top but this made the climb all the more worthwhile! The view is spectacular right across Mandalay. The cost of entry was tiny although they could have been a little more transparent about it. There are benches at intervals for those that need a rest on the way up and drinks vendors selling water and other drinks. There are other interesting temples to see in the vicinity of Mandalay Hill after you've walked back down. If you want to learn about the country you're visiting, you have to make the effort! We recommend it.

A bit of a long walk up, but you can easily drive to the top and skip the hassle if you so please. Other reviews have complained about the price of "admission" to the top pagoda but it was a negligible fee — less than $1 when I went. At the top, there is a wonderful view of the river, city, and surrounding area which includes pagoda-lined mountains on on either side. At the top there are also Buddhist monks who are very friendly and I chatted with one for well over an hour. In my opinion, the hill was easily one of the best things to do in Mandalay.

Yes, quite nice
Climbing the stairs is a real challenge, but you are rewarded by the great view.
On each larger landing a religious icon is waiting, such as A 5m high Buddha.
A paragraph before the final platform you can still eat really tasty lunch.
My chicken in spicy tomato sauce was the firecracker.
But I did not have to pay any entry, because someone was probably kidding properly:) )

It could be nice to inform the tourists that they have to paid for visiting the top of the hill before they are on the top of the hill. Down stairs they said nothing and so you start to climb. And when you arrive on the top they ask you money. It is not expensive but this is not fair.

The Mandalay Hill Resort isgood hotel in Mandalay. The room and restaurant are good quality. Use to be a Novotel in late 1990.

Great spa… the rooms are nice but small particularly for two people. Breakfast and buffet dinner excellent.

The people never lived, the great. Remember, there's a chance to cook.

Great tourist hotel at the foot of Mandalay Hill. Try not to eat at the hotel restaurants though. They are horribly overpriced.

Haven't stayed here, but if you go in and buy an hefty overpriced orange juice, you can use the rather cold, but nice, pool.

Do not look for another, this hotel will cover your lodging needs. Fantastic.

Outstanding. Efficient and friendly. International approach. Stunning views of Mandalay Hill and its temples. Can-can culture. And they go the extra mile if you ask politely.

I like a lots to stay there. The service staffs, the food and beverages were very good. 1 night we losted the way where we'ld like to dinner and bar (The Unique Bar and Restaurant, the corner of 66th and 12th streets). So we look to get the way for us around the Mandalay Hill at 19:00pm. And a boy had come close to us and asked that how he should help us. And we told him what we want, then he walked and talked alot with us and show the Bar. His name's Kywexinled who's a waiter. He's a clever waiter in the hotel.

Beautiful common areas and friendly staff. Prices at the restaurant aren't too bad given it's exclusive nature.

The Mandalay Hill Resort is the most luxurious hotel in Mandalay. We stayed one night in deluxe room corner. The room was very nice. We had dinner at the restaurant and the buffet was of good quality. What I do not like is that even if we were arrived for check-in at 3 pm, we could not take a bath in the pool because the staff was setting up the space for a wedding. To be more precise, we were told that the pool was open until 6am, but it was virtually impossible to swim between tables, chairs and the staff employed in setting. From a 5 star I expect a lot more.

Flatters to deceive — rooms are OK'ish (it was the Sofitel previously I believe) but nothing special — pool area excellent Watch out for the bar/cafe staff giving you change in "soiled" USDollars which you are unable to use. This could be why the lighting is so low in there.
