Yoga retreat with the girls I can’t sing this places praises enough, booked it for a yoga retreat with me and my girlfriends and got so much more then we thought. We knew Tulum was beautiful but we had no idea what we’d find, restaurants for days, boutique stores and some amazing night life. Yoga Shala was our little sea of calm, a place to rest and recharge from all the resting a recharging we were doing elsewhere LOL. Will definitely be coming back, thanks everyone.

Just left Yoga Shala and wow. I've never stayed somewhere quite like. Great food, great staff and most importantly great yoga! Feel rested and ready to take on the world again. Thanks everyone who made it so special.

Yoga Shala: A modern hotel for the mind body and soul. You’d be hard pressed to find a more considerate, professional and caring establishment than Yoga Shala in Tulum Playa. Situated on the Playa’s main road which is home to many of Tulum’s finest hotels, Yoga Shala stands head and shoulders above the competition. It should go without saying, if you’re a practitioner of Yoga there simply is no other place in Tulum for you. With several professional Yoga classes each day for all ages and skill levels, the convenience and quality of the yoga offered at Yoga Shala, can’t be beaten. Combine this with guided mediation sessions and an incredibly healthy menu in their on site restaurant and you’ll almost certainly leave Yoga Shala happier and healthier than when you arrived. Whether you’re sitting in soothing social space with a book, eating Thai food in the outstanding Canopia restaurant, or dozing in the incredible swing beds that feature in many of the rooms, it would be easy to spend all day within the gorgeous walls of Yoga Shala. (Seriously, it’s worth staying at Yoga Shala just for the beds). With all that being said, if you are able to venture outside, you’ll find a Caribbean paradise, begging to be explored. Not only is Tulum Playa a little slice of heaven, it’s an incredibly well furnished bit of heaven. On this amazing strip of land you are spoiled for choice when it comes to fine dining, dancing and serendipitous moments of natural tranquillity.

Staying in the yoga Sam Tulum should be the highlight of our holiday and became the worst hotel experience we have ever had. The rooms are partly dark holes that smell musty. Bed linen and towels have stains and do not smell very inviting either. The only good thing was the staff, both the security guards (which include Have a scorpion removed from my room) as well as the cleaning staff are very accommodating.
Peace and relaxation, however, are sought in vain. We were loudly sounded almost every night with music from the surrounding clubs and bars — so loud that the mosquito net vibrated at the bed. Sleep was simply forgotten. Complaints from both the owner and the manager were sometimes heard and even a partial refund was offered to us at first. Shortly thereafter, however, the two have simply made scarce and have not appeared any more. The manager always said that she was there in an hour and then just did not appear. Calls and messages have been ignored. This is not dealing with paying guests.
The yoga is totally uneven and smelled of gasoline by the generator — but we were told we should be happy because it doesn't smell like sewer anymore. Furthermore, a very busy road is right next to it. The volume is accordingly. A relaxing yoga practice is impossible.
We were glad when we left. Once and never again!

I WISH I could give this place a good review because it is so charming and adorable and the yoga space is beautiful and the food was delicious and the service was great. BUT the owner is the most difficult person to work with, I truly have never experienced anything like it. If you want details, you’re welcome to contact me because I never want anybody to have to deal with what I did. Among many other things that were completely unprofessional, she repeatedly tried to change the agreed upon price and get more money out of me.

I had the worst welcome ever when I checked in. They lost my reservation even though I pre paid 200 US$ already when I booked it two month ago. Instead of trying to solve the issue themselve they turned it into my problem, wasted much of my time and caused unnecessary stress, which you don't want if you are on holiday and travelling for more than 12 hours to get to this place. I would never stay in that place again. I think the owners have nothing to do with yoga, only run this place as an investment. The seperate bathroom facilities were not conviently designed (seems they never tried to use it themselves) and the walls of the rooms were so thin, that talks and shower noises from other visitors woke me up in the middle of every night. The only good thing was the location.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Stones throw from beach. Lovely bedding and sheets. Lovely space to do yoga with eclectic mix of teachers. Cons: loud music at night; no curtains — need ear plugs and eye mask.

The Yoga Shala was a great place to stay. Highly recommend being on the second or third floor. Beautiful little hotel. The location was super. Easy walk across the street and through the Ahau hotel to get to the beach. Easy access to many restaurants and boutiques.
