One of the worst days of my entire life and resort. Broken AC, harassing staff, management attacking you with NDAs.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hideaway very much. We met the nicest people from all over the world, the food was absolutely amazing, the staff very helpful and took care of anything we needed. And the sunrise every morning was beautiful!

I was looking for a very special vacation to take my 90-year-old mother on and the resort and location did not disappoint! Everyone provided impeccable service! We loved Elmer in concierge and Carlos, who provided incredible poolside aqua fit demonstrations each day we were there! Although we weren’t on a first name basis with other resort staff they were always welcoming with a smile and support as needed. We were treated like royalty and will remember this incredibly special place fondly. Thanks for the memories!

Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was absolutely amazing, they really make you feel at home! We met so many new friends, enjoyed many great activities, meals, and all around relaxation! I would highly recommend staying in this resort, you will love it! We will definitely be coming again! (Hopefully soon! )

We’ve had a great time here! The resort is beautiful. The grounds are nicely kept, and our room was spotless every day. The food was really good and the drinks were perfect! I highly recommend everything about it and hope to come back soon. One last thing… get a massage at the spa! Mine was amazing!

Just got back from our 4th stay at this wonderful hotel. Everything about this hotel is amazing from when you step out if your transfer onto the red carpet you know you are somewhere special. Shout out to the waiters round the pools excellent service by all. Special shout out to the pool guys who keep you entertained and make sure you have an excellent time with games aerobics in the pool especially Mili, Carlos and Israel who did me a facial by the pool. The concierge in your villas can’t do enough for you. Excellent restaurants serving first class food the Italian is our favourite the waiter there Edwardo done us proud. The staff in the breakfast and lunch are excellent even during the rain storm they looked after everyone. The cleaners and ground staff need to be mentioned as they work very hard and the hotel immaculate. The beach is kept so clean by the staff they all work tirelessly to make sure you have a wonderful stay.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. No hot water in our room, had to shower in the spa for 2 days and beg for a new room. Ordered steak from room service and an hour and a half later get fries. Other room service was cold or soggy food. Entertainment/music was terrible. Never received an I’m sorry, or what can we do to help your stay be better. Nothing. Probably spent no less than 5 hours each day simply trying to fix our room, get food, or even just get a shower! The staff was loud outside of our rooms in the morning. It was terrible. I would never recommend this place or hotel group to anyone!

Excellent service by the pool.

We visit this hotel every year and it is always been a wonderful experince. The minute you walk into the spacious and luxurious lobby and are given sparking wine you know you will have a wonderful stay. The staff is very friendly starting with Manuel who is in charge of bags. The check in staff is welcoming and very understanding to all your needs and requests. The pool staff is amazing Genaro and his crew do a wonderufl job in keeping us with drinks at all times. The entertainment staff (mercedes, emily etc. ) always have a happy smile going and make the day fun and the nights at the bar even better. The rooms are nice and have luxurious toiletries. The breakfast is wonderful on the deck, dinners at all of the restaurants is wonderful. I would say my favorite is Azia, Ventanas and Palazzo. One of our favorite activities is to go to the SPA, Jessica does such an amazing job making you relaxed and offers the best massages I have ever had. In all this resort is wonderful! I cant wait to visit them in december for my birthday, I cant think of a better place.

We really loved the staff! The pool people are amazing. The rooms are ok but have a shared door between rooms and you can hear everything. In 2021 there is no reason for these rooms specially since this isn’t a family hotel. ILLEGAL DRUGS… vendors in the beach come right up to the pool to offer drugs. Why is there no security there to tell them to stay on the public beach. I’m trying to relax in the pool and some guy came to offer us cocaine. I was so scared.

Royal Hideaway is the only place I have vacationed multiple times. We love it so much that we won’t go anywhere else for the perfect beach vacation. The staff is incredible and work hard to make every part of your vacation special. Especially Mercedes who works hard to run the activities at the pool and make the guests feel welcomed. The food is spectacular and there are many choices to pick from. The beaches and pool are beautiful. It is heaven and I will return again and again!

Excellent service and staff. Boutique property that was very quiet. Adults only. Dinners were 5 star courses, highly recommend Las Ventanas. Ask for server Nicolas Gonzalez, he knows his cuisine. Easy to navigate property with everything in walking distance. Was here for a special occasion and staff was very accommodating. Clean and safety a priority. Beach was beautiful, but ♾ pool was the place to be! We will be back.

I recently visited this resort to get away from winter doldrums in the MidWest and found this place to be a great getaway destination. Staff are friendly, service is excellent, and the fact that it is adults only allows one to have some peace and quiet. Pool activities staff Carlos and Mercedes made my experience even more memorable.

We had a great time room are nice, nice beds, grounds beautiful. Will come back.

We just had a week of beautiful weather, great service along with delicious food! thd rooms were clean, all staff were very friendly! … one thing that seemed a little odd was it took a surprisingly long time to get checked in, over an hour easy (but I didn't time it) during check-in, I told the. We were celebrating my wife's 50th birthday, asked if there was anything they could do to help make it special, I would greatly appreciate it! but I left it at that, nothing specific… and they brought out champagne and sang happy birthday to her at one point, and on the last night they brought out birthday dessert, had her name spelled out on the plate both times! they just did a great job of helping make her feel special (and she is! ) all on their own throughout our stay!

This was my second visit. I will go again next year! Many folks there have been numerous times. The staff; Karen, Christian, Niko, just to name a few, do a fabulous job of making sure you always feel special. No high rise for me — this is the place!

I am always come back to this paradise place, for the awesome team, food is amazing and for the hotel location! One word Wow!

This place is a luxury villa style hotel in a gated area at Playa Del Carmen with an awesome nature life, beautiful plants, tropical gardens and trees, wonderful birds and small animals hanging around. There are 3 floors and 2 floors villas. Each villa has its concierge, all rooms are very comfortable and cool enough to go inside and feel relaxed after the outdoors hot air and humidity! They are cleaning the rooms two times a day in the mornings and afternoons. This place has a different kind of pools and jacuzzis, Spa, shops and around 6 or 7 a la cart restaurants, poolside bar and a wonderful beach. I love this place and I really enjoyed my vacation there.

This is a first class resort! The food, along with the live music, is great. The suites are beautiful. The beach is an all day investment. It is close enough to Playa del Carmen to walk along the beach to visit. The staff will even serve you a cheese burger at 4 a. M. To make you happy… say no more… My wife and I had a blast!

Beautiful property which was very well kept. Made two dinner reservations one at the Italian restaurant and one at the Mexican and the food and service was excellent. Great beach. I forget her name but the woman who services the three small pools on property with food and drinks is extraordinary! Great short vacation!

Really nice hotel if you want to relax. The beach are nice and you have a lot of swimming pool. Really good services from the staff. The reason why I don’t give five stars is the food. This is somewhere they really need to improve. You need to always do reservation for dinner it will be nice a buffet you can just show up. If they improve the food I will give a five stars for sure.

My husband and I were here for a week and we absolutely loved it! They have the best staff so nice and go out of their way to accommodate you and help in any way they can. From room service to the staff in the restaurant's to lobby staff to even house keeping. My husband and I wouldn't pick any other all-inclusive resort. All adults was a plus for us. The rooms are very nice and spacious. The food is amazing. Drinks were amazing. You can not go wrong with this resort. My husband and I will be back next year for our anniversary and we can not wait. There's not many places where you will find a Michelin star executive chef on staff willing to prepare a tasting menu for you on a dime's notice… the staff at Royal Hideaway are there to make sure your stay is all about what you're looking for and want to do. Keep up the great work Royal Hideaway Playacar!

How do you not give them 5 Stars? The food, the service, the facilities, the amenities, the safety, absolutely incredible place to stay, small enough that it becomes cozy, unlike larger resorts. Our main lady there was our pool waitress Shaira Ceceres (I think I got her last name right), she took care of us the minute we walked in. Never missed anything, good food, drinks, even healing a bad hangover, she did it all. The shows were great, Palazzo was absolutely out of this world, ask t eat there more than once please, and please be kind and tip the staff, all inclusive means all inclusive, but please be fair, they break their backs for you, we saw some people never take out one dollar. In a nutshell, we just got back this week and we’re already planning on going back. That’s how good it was. And they have squirrel piglets running around…

The resort is beautiful with more traditional upscale decor. Food so far has been delicious and fresh. The service though, has been a standout. The entire staff has been wonderful and work incredibly hard to keep things beautiful and hospitable.

The rooms are beautiful! Pool is great! But room service is alright. I would not recommend big groups coming because it's hard to find accommodations. Otherwise I love this place!

Been to multiple all inclusive resorts, this is by far the best and nicest I have ever been to. Adults only, big plus in my book. Complaint would be that not everything is included, such as lobster upgrades during meals and upgraded wine is not included. Basic wine is free. Housing is fantastic, very well kept and maintained. Every building is only approximately ten rooms with a personal concierge available to help with any needs. Room survive is available 24 hours a day and comes relatively quick less than 30 minutes. Very appreciative and caring staff. Got back today and already planning the next trip back there.

I would give Royal Hideaway Playacar 10 stars if I could for the world class service from the staff alone. A special thank you to Ricardo Rivera who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and went out of his way to seek us out to make sure we were well taken care of. The food at all five restaurants we visited was above and beyond our expectations for an all inclusive resort. Where most resorts suffer, Royal Hideaway excels. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable. The room was serviced twice daily and no detail was missed. Please tip your housekeeper, they are the hardest working people there. We have found our new favorite resort in Playa Del Carmen.

Beautiful resort. The Jacuzzis were only hot for the first day we were there. Dinner takes about 2 hours, but the food is excellent quality. Service and drinks were great. Lots of seaweed (in mid April) but they were trying to remove it. There are 2 main pools and 2 additional more private pools.

A quiet and pleasant place.

We went to this resort to dive. We are time share owners this is one of our hotels. I was not happy with they way we were treated. The brought us up a back ally to dive center The dive center was at the end of resort on beach. They don't have a pier so you have to swim out. There is a huge drop of and you walk back up on a sand bar and drop off again to swim to boat. The waves are big because of the drop off I think. But the dive team was great. Also pro-dive. Beautiful beach what we seen of it. My issue was the way we were treated. We got done with dive. I was wanting some water. I had to go to the bathroom after I got dressed and we had to go into the pro-dive shop to use the restroom. Was not able to get a drink until we got back to our hotel. We waited in the back of the hotel next to dumpster for our ride. Like we were not good enough to be in resort. I found this a huge insult considering we have spent around 60 thousand for this time share. I would expect our sister resorts we are not staying at to treat us better. But this was not the case. I won't be going back to this resort. These pictures are all I could get because we were not able to round the other side of dive center. We will still dive just using another dive center or renting a charter.

Small opinion on the pool staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We're being helped to find chairs and settle down. They even lend us books. Anyway, five stars.
For the hotel…
The service in general is excellent, attentive staff and very courteous.
The best restaurants are the Palazzo and the Ventanas. The restaurant Asia follows them closely, but all are excellent. There are far fewer choices than before, but the food is superb, made by chefs who have genius. The sommelier Gabriella is young, enthusiastic and warm (and very pretty). She knows how to communicate her love of wine and offers wise advice on choosing a bottle that will fit well with the chosen dish. It also organizes very successful and interesting wine tastings. I give 5 out of 5 to the restoration and 6 and 5 to the sommelier.

It is a beautiful hotel, only for adults.

Room is great, food is amazing, and the staff in the bars and restaurants are wonderful. Unfortunately you forget quickly about this because: Their restaurant reservation system sucks, they do not have capacity to serve all their guests at a decent hour (we had supper tonight at 10 Pm…) the concierge are stuck with this and can do nothing to help, the night manager only became helpful when I booked a meeting for the next day with the general manager. As there is no buffet service, you are stuck eating on their less than accommodating schedule or order room service… They have issues accommodating couples and we were a party of 6… I did not pay an upgrade rate to be the last one served supper in the entire resort. Pool area is constantly running out of towels and the water temperature in the shower is hard to control (either too hot or too cold), . Could not comment on their shows as I missed them all due to the restaurant schedule. They have a management issue and unfortunately their understaffed personnel are stuck addressing all complaints. Sadly, I will not recommend or ever come back.

RH is an incredible place to stay. Service, Hood, Fun — It's all trust, But I would be remiss if I didn't mention what a wonderful experience we had at Chef Alejandro Sanchez's Table. Couple of Highlights: 1. One of the top 3 meals I have ever had (6 or 12 courses your choice). 2. You are seated in a formal glass enclosed room that looks right at the kitchen 3. You can see the care that goes into every dish that is being prepared. (There is even a flat screen to watch a closer view of Chef Alejandro preparing your meal) 4. The wine pairings were thoughtfully served. 5. Chef Alejandro's kitchen is the cleanest kitchen you will ever see. Gordon Ramsey would be jealous. 6. The Chef is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet — I left feeling like I made a friend. Ask your concierge to schedule a time and just do it. It cost a little money but you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous. Lovely, comfortable, truly great food (Not at all like other all — inclusive resorts) top shelf liquor. 5 restaurants, no restrictions, 4 secluded relaxation pools, 2 large lap pools, one with and infinity wall facing the ocean. NO BIRDS bugging you on the beach. They have a falconer who keeps birds off the beach at this resort so they don't dive bomb your food. Cabanas you can use for free. Free snorkel gear, bicycles (A short ride from 5th ave in Playa del Carmen… don't go somewhere else if you want to relax and be pampered.

Where to begin… The service is impeccable. The food was everything expected. The facilities were beautiful. And the accommodations themselves were very nice. Now to get picky as to where they could improve… The whole dinner reservation requirement is silly. Restaurants were seldom full and the staff was far from rushing. Beach activities were poor. I'm mixed on the lack of night life, I didn't expect much but was still underwhelmed — but that made for better days. While I understand that work must be done through the night, please quiet down. We heard way too much banging around while trying to sleep. All that said, I'd go back. It's a fantastic resort. I just couldn't give it a perfect 5 stars.

Location is prefect. The dive shop next door was amazing. Beds were comfortable and room was spacious. Food was really good. Overall a great vacation. Just wish that they had some nightlife options.

Very luxurious. Great restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for much more. The ac made our room a bit musty if it ran constantly though.

8 day honeymoon here. Was beautiful and fantastic. The bartender Eduardo whom we saw just about every night made us feel very welcome and the manager Carlos saw us everyday to make sure we were having a good time. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation spot, this is the place. Will definitely return.

A great place for those who want to take a break from the abundance of people, children, endless sellers of all and intrusive tour operators and their services. Very tasty food, all fresh, lots of fruit and vegetables and sea food. 5 restaurants on the territory will not leave anyone indifferent. This place is just a paradise for a quiet romantic vremjapriprovozhdenija on a honeymoon. Sauna, spa, sports and much more adds to the rest unforgettable moments of bliss and relaxation. I recommend it clearly.

The villas are nicely tucked away and the entire grounds have a very peaceful and secluded feel. Make you dinner reservations prior to arrival for best times. All of the staff and most of the guests were happy and courteous. A perfect getaway for lovebirds. You will not be disappointed. The beach is immaculate. The concierge can be a tad hard to reach at times.

Very nice but the quality of the food is not the best and we were made to wait a long time (4 hours) to deliver room (knowing that it is already the guest should speed up the process)

I had some trouble at check in, but I think it's because there was a very large group checking in at the same time (150+ people). My wife and I also had trouble finding a concierge the first night, which was a little annoying because reservations are required for most restaurants. That being said, I've really been enjoying myself. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. We are spending as much time as possible on the beach, which is well maintained and staffed. We've been told this is one of the best resorts in Playacar, and if have to agree so far. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. Good food. Friendly staff. Beautiful pool area. We really liked it. But 1 bad point people are going at 6am to book their sunbed and coming back 2, 3 or 4 hours after. Not nice for the guests that arrive at 7am or 8am to stay at the pool area. The GM should stop with this bad behaviour.

Wonderful resort! We've stayed in downtown Cancun and Riviera Maya before staying here and this location is beautiful. The resort is smaller, but there are hidden pools aside from the main 2. The staff is extremely courteous and welcoming. Spa services are excellent as well. All of the food is delicious including the room service. The rooms are beautiful and sizable. Every villa has a personal concierge that can have everything. Very convenient. We like visiting a different resort everytime we come down, but we may return to this one.

This is a wonderful place to reconnect with your significant other. The resort is beautiful and the beach is amazing. The service is wonderful and the staff is always very helpful. We have been twice, but the last time we went the food was not as good and the condition of the room was sub par. They need to do a lot of updates in order to make it more modern but overall it's a nice place to visit.

I had a fantastic 7-day stay at the Royal Hideaway Playacar resort in Playa del Carmen. What I really enjoyed was the tranquil atmosphere. The resort was gorgeous. Special mention to Camilla, the villa concierge, who made my birthday extra special. Customer service was excellent, especially notable were Christian at the Deck restaurant and Angel. Although the spa is small, especially in terms of the grandness of the main building, the services were excellent. I loved the steam room and sauna. I had an amazing Deep Tissue massage, foot reflexology, and facial from Juan! As a gluten-free vegetarian, the food was delicious. I was also glad to be asked before each lunch and dinner, if I had any food allergies. 24-hour room service was part of the all-inclusive package, and I highly recommend it at least once. Even though I was not crazy about the idea of there being an evening dress code at all of the restaurants; I found that many guests still dressed casually. The beach at the Royal Hideaway was beautiful; however, there is seaweed. Overall, my experience at the Royal Hideaway Playacar was great. It provided the relaxing beach getaway that I wanted, and the resort exceeded my expectations.

This is above average in every way — from every member of the staff to the fine cuisine of the restaurants. A magnificant and ydillic hideaway indeed. Thank you to everyone of the kind people for making this an unforgettable time.

The location is really nice. I never been to a place where anything I ask they will provide and not even look at me abnormal. The staff is super friendly. And the fact that it's all inclusive is a benefit.

Pros: Excellent service, immaculately kept grounds. Quiet, restful. The staff, from the first (bellhop) to the last (front desk) were tremendous and gave the impression they were happy to not only be there as employees, but happy to serve. Our Concierge Adrian was exceptional in his desire to take care of us. No detail was too small. Cons: (minor) The bathrooms are outdated, but are in the process of being renovated according to hotel mgt. They are clean and well-stocked. The traditional fare restaurant, Spices, has disappointingly unappetizing food. It seems the Chef is more concerned with presentation than actual taste. Mexican food has so many ways to be mouth-watering. We were disappointed in this one. The only other con is how AWFUL it is to relax in a beautifully tropical setting with turquoise water and warm winds, and have to breath some troglodyte's cigarette smoke.

Complicated to book a table at restaurants to map and much too much waiting at breakfast.

It is a place where you are treated very well, the food is delicious, you can enjoy the gardens and the beach is a delight.

We had a great time. The staff was incredible and the rooms were beautiful and luxurious!

Very nice facilities and a service of excellence but too much kindness and low efficiency.
Arriving at the room: Coffee Maker does not work, scale without batteries, safety box does not work.

I went here with my wife for our honeymoon in April 2009. Loved it. Unbelievable. Tennis court, private stage shows, top-shelf all inclusive, and service around the clock. The only downfall was that it was extremely private. We met two other couples like us, but this place definitely seemed to cater to more high-end customers rather than a Seacrets or Beaches resort that would have hundreds of people.

The bad reviews are very interesting as we have been going to RH since 2006 and have never experienced any what is being said — we are going again next week so hopefully things haven't gone down hill that much since last time there… the only "negatives" I can say are: * rooms are the same since our first time in 2006 but very clean and well kept and we actually don't mind. * the day beds are a first come, first serve which led to going down @ 5 am to put stuff on them, then having people remove your stuff — would like to see this being managed. * dinner resv's on busy pm's — need to do in advance * they don't actually enforce the dress code that well. staff is always great as well as the food… we love it here!

This was an outstanding resort with outstanding service and exceptional food! We were blown away by the quality of service offered to us from the minute we walked into check in at the resort to the minute we had to say good bye. The grounds were beautiful, the spa professional and relaxing, a variety of restaurants to choose with outstanding service and the food was amazing.! The staff is what makes this resort over the top. We met so many guests that had been there multiple times and keep coming back. That says it all. We are already planning our next year's Spring Break vacation at The Royal Hideaway with our entire family. This will not disappoint. Love this place!
