My Family and I just returned from our trip and we were blown away by this beautiful hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and the service is unbelievable. The restaurants are also fantastic — like nothing we've ever experienced at an all-inclusive resort! This place was just perfect.

Stunning hotel, in a world where many hotels claim to be 5 star this is a true 5 star hotel on every level, service, food / dining, accommodation and total setting. Can’t recommend it enough. Staff cannot do enough for you and we really struggled to find fault with anything. First time I have experienced that and therefore we will be returning ASAP.

Amazing resort feel like home. Very spacious rooms have an adult only pool and a family pool. Many different types of rooms and great service. Especially the family connecting rooms at the Zen which has all the amenities for an infant. Has a small chapel to hold approx 120 people regular Sunday mass and also host destination wedding. The different children play area for 4-12 and 13-18 separately. The best part is it is also an all inclusive which is why it is so amazing.

My spouse and I never go to all-inclusive resorts as we prefer small boutique hotels with an intimate atmosphere. But for my 50th birthday we planned a family reunion a this resort at the recommendation of friend since we wanted a location where it is kids friendly but not overrun by kids, and have all the amenities included so not to fuss a bill every time. And I have to stay that our expectations were far surpassed. The rooms were clean and spacious and the room cleaning services were superb. The all-inclusive Michelin-style dinner options were far beyond the normal buffet type that we had anticipated. The pool, the beach, and the rest of the facilities were also amazing.

We just returned and what sets this place apart is the 5 star service. Angel and Rodrigo, our pool activities directors, always had lots for us to do and really made every effort to make sure we had a wonderful time. We sat in same pool area ever day so that we could have Ty and Bruno as our wait staff. They were outstanding and constantly were checking whether we needed anything. My concierge Tonia would seek us out at the pool every day to see if we needed anything. The entire staff is wonderful but these five truly gave us an extraordinary week! Thank you!

Amazing experience. Top notch facility, service, and food. Bartenders and servers were friendly and attentive. Rooms were very comfortable and even included a pillow menu. We had amazing meals from everywhere including room service, Azul (buffet), sit down restaurants, and poolside Bistro. Be prepared for 3-4 hour evening if choosing to dine at Artur or Piaf. White sand on the beach, but water is shallow and rocky all the way out to the tide barriers. They recommend swim shoes. Overall, fantastic experience.

Grand Vegas is unlike any other place on earth. It’s so beautiful and everyone is so gracious and accommodating. It was our first vacation without our children but the whole time we were there we saw many things about the resort that Paul appreciate. The spa water experience was beyond our expectations sand it was my fiancées first spa treatement ever. He enjoyed it all. We tried all th restaurants except for one and each one presented its own unique style and luxury with food presentation that you don’t see much of anymore. The food was beyond delicious at each outlet, even just beachside and by the pool! We will definitely be back and next time it will be with our family. Grand Velas has to be the closest thing to heaven on Earth.

Dining: exceptional service, quality and options. Our family enjoyed everything about this hotel.

We have been on luxury vacations but this one tops them all! Excellent food, super-friendly staff, and stunning property. The attention to detail was incredible. Three teens, husband and I enjoyed every minute. The resort extended our stay until 2pm to coordinate with our transportation — at no charge. Wonderful experience!

This is our second stay and we had a phenomenal time! We were so excited to see Luis and Israel at the Ambassador pool! We stayed in their section the entire time and we were treated like royalty! We can not express how amazing those two are! Not only are they fantastic employees but they became our friends! The gentleman who manages the Ambassador side pool (I wish I could remember his name) remembered us from last time as he was welcoming and checked on us daily. Alejandro our concierge was always welcoming and checking on us too. He provided excellent service and this was our second time having him as our concierge. Our only complaint was service at Azul was spotty. The food is amazing but sometimes it took quite awhile for water and coffee. Too many hostess and not enough wait staff. Today’s service was excellent though. We can’t wait to come back and be spoiled:) You will not regret vacationing here. Rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and the mini bar is always stocked! The service is spectacular and hopefully you will be lucky enough to sit in Luis and Israel’s pool section in Ambassador and have Alejandro as your concierge on the Zen side. Thank you for the wonderful memories and amazing food:) We will be back!

Upon entering the entrance of this luxury resort, I was already sold! The grandiose towering white walls, and the lush tropical forest greeted me with such welcoming yet mysterious flare! I was ready to embark on a new journey with Dr. Joe Dispenza's week-long retreat at this amazing resort! My suite was best of the best at the oceanfront Grand Class! It was a pleasant surprise to be upgraded to the vice-presidential suite! I am so blessed!
What makes a place special is th…e people, every staff is so warm and friendly, and everything was done impeccably! I was so pampered, Mexicans are definitely one of the friendliest people on this planet! Haute-cuisine has never been better! I tried the French restaurant, Piaf; the Italian restaurant, Lucca, and The Asian Fusion restaurant, Sen Lin! Breakfast and lunch at Azul, Chaka, and Bistro were just as refreshing and yummy! This was definitely THE most luxurious and beautiful resort I have ever been to! I can't wait to come back next year! Thank you Grand Velas for such a memorable experience! Muchas Gracias!

This is by far the best family friendly service oriented luxury all inclusive resort on the Riviera Maya in Mexico! Santiago was OUR concierge, he made everything happen perfectly and personally made sure our every need was taken care of! We had the whole family with us, including THREE wonderful GRANDCHILDREN. Grad Velas has sitting services, ask Claudia, your kids will love here from the minute they meet her. Claudia is a natural with the little ones! The resort is also secluded and romantic cut right out of the jungle and right on the beach. Grand Velas Riviera Maya has it all! Do not miss it!

Loved it all. Stayed at the Ambassador part of the resort with a beach view room that had it's own private pool! Room itself was huge but we spent most of our time out on the beach and in the pool with the swim up bar. Gorgeous landscaping, great service and delicious food and drinks. Amazing place.

The service is amazing. The food is fabulous. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. The Wi-Fi works well. So many choices in dining, close to many activities and adventures. Hotel takes excellent care of you. Be sure to know where you are staying, as there are three ambiance's, Zen does not have an ocean view, however, filled with beauty. Ambassador and Grand Class have amazing views. The pools are relaxing with incredible views. Take a few days and treat yourself to the beauty of Grand Velas!

I cannot express the love I have for this amazing resort. From the staff who are so friendly, they go out of their way to make you feel so welcome. Next the suite, well all I can say is who could not ask for pure heaven. Walking out you patio door on to the patio and walk to the beautiful sandy beaches. Yes the waters are rocky but honestly the amazing pools more than make up for the sea in my opinion. I can have my romantic walks on the beach, laying on the beach enjoying a nice margarita or frozen drink of my choice. Then comes the food. Simply amazing but for us the stand out was Frida. All I can say as someone that love and enjoys food wow, from the scallop appetizers to the soups, the lamb shank was simply melt in your mouth. But what topped off my husband and I’s visit was the spa. If you think you have had a spa day well you probably have never had a spa day like this. To start with the water ceremony to end with massage left me feeling refreshed and relaxed. The grounds are immaculate, and again the staff amazing I just can’t say enough about how wonderful the staff was. So from my family thank you Grand Velas you deserve every star of these 5 and if I could give more I would. My husband and I are just blown away by your resort.

This place is the bomb! The staff are warm and genuine, whether or not they were serving guests. They tolerated my mom trying to learn Spanish and saying everything wrongly. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the rooms are incredible. Also, the food is in a category all it's own. All in all, I would recommend this place to everyone, their grandmother and their baby!

This resort actually makes " Live life king size" come true! Down-to-earth, super friendly and cheerful staff, awesome food and drinks, extremely clean surrounding will rejuvenate you. Felt at peace looking at white sand and blue water and their "infinity" swimming pool. They have excellent spa services and other activities as well.

Grand Velas is an outstanding resort. Every detail has been thought of and taken care of. The resort only partners with the best companies for transportation and excursions. Safety is a top priority and we never felt that our safety was remotely at risk. The resort is very safe. Every dining option is remarkable. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The Spa is outstanding, one of the best I have ever been to. For couples, families, groups, this is a 6 Star Resort!

Nestled on 84 acres of Mayan Rain forest this tropical hideaway with view of the island of Cozumel is the perfect Mayan getaway for you or your family. The restaurants are top notch, the rooms are fantastic, the service is superb, the amenities are perfect. There are even dedicated staff for children and teenager activities should parents want to have some adult time and enjoy high end dining, clubs, or just have a breath of air away from the challenges of raising children (I have three myself, no judgments here). This was a business trip for me but I still had loads of time to spend in their two acre pool, dine at many of the restaurants, sample superb local cuisine and enjoy many of the virtues of the Mexican culture and native peoples.

Is a guarantee of a great vacation! In family, in couple, the spa is amazing, its spa and the therapists are the best, but what sets this place apart from the facilities is the guest service in all areas, the activities that have… I have missed days! Really enjoyed it a lot.

The Resort seemed to us beautiful and ideal for rest and relaxation, the Spa is second to none, you have to devote time even if it is only the part of hydrotherapy, we stayed in the section Grand Class, if we come back we will repeat in the same section although the Ambassador is very similar if one wants a better rate, the gastronomic offer particularly in the evenings is varied and spectacular, the day is more limited, but acceptable. For wine lovers, the supply is limited. I sincerely recommend it.

THE hotel is very nice in its architecture combining mexican touches. The buganbilias are a plus. The rooms have their own jacuzzi and the aminidades are really very good. The food from room service is delicious but all their staff is really super friendly.

This place is over the top! We spent 1 week as a family on an annual reward trip and I typically can be critical about things as I have traveled extensively. I did not find any negatives worthy of mentioning. This place is fantastic. Due to the US/Mexico travel advisory level being raised, we did not leave the resort (many in my group did with no issues). After 7 days in pampered paradise, I still do not see any reason to leave! lol Driving to work today my son rolled his window down and said: "Can I get a shuttle to the Zen Pools? " There are too many positives to mention. My advise as a high income, well heeled, extensively traveled Floridian; Go now! Enjoy!

Beautiful hotel with excellent service particularly in the Grand Zen not so much in the Ambassador as a personal opinion, very good food and drinks, and the spa wonderful. I found excellent also the you have with various things for babies (car, crib, feeding chair, bath, etc).

First let me say that this resort is easily the nicest I’ve ever been to. The staff, the food, the room, the pools, the activities, etc. I can not say enough wonderful things about everything you receive at this resort. When we arrived they drove us to the Grand Class area as they were planning on upgrading us. Unfortunately we couldn’t do that as we had our 8 year old son with us and it’s a 16 and older area. They then drove us to where we were booked to stay in the Zen area. Besides slipping in the shower and breaking my wrist this next bit was the only main hiccup of our trip. When we got to the Zen they informed us they didn’t have the suite we’d booked available and we owed money for our son. I showed them the confirmation, which our son was included on and then emailed everything to the staff member that greeted us. They then found a room for us for the week. I will have to say this was not the smoothest way to start our trip but mistakes happen. Despite this and the extremely slippery shower our trip at Grand Velas Riviera Maya was amazing and we would definitely return. We look forward to trying their other resorts as well. A few tips: book at the restaurants you’d like to go to ahead of arrival as they do not pack you in and it’s hard to get a reservation at certain restaurants. Be careful around the pool areas. Especially at the Zen pool as it’s extremely slippery. Find an area you’d like chairs by any of the pools or the ocean.

A wonderful hotel in all aspects — from the beautiful rooms and impressive facilities, including beautiful swimming pools and a clean beach with white sand, until the first class food in all the restaurants. The service is always first rate. Highly recommend this hotel for a stay unforgettable in Playa del Carmen.

By far the most luxurious all-inclusive resort we have EVER stayed at — — we truly felt like royalty and couldn't get over how well we were treated during our stay! Gabriel, a Grand Velas employee, was our favorite staff member! (He is usually located at the Zen Pool! ) He went above and beyond to make us feel extra special and definitely took care of every request we made with a smile on his face. His manners and politeness were noticed and appreciated by all. He made our experience even more amazing than it already was!

I was a guest of the Grand Class Suites. Incredibly magnificent place, the care of the grounds is perfect and the each and every staff member from repairs crew to front desk was respectful, extremely friendly and a perfect complement to the lovely environment. The design and thought put into the details in the suites and public spaces truly were perfect. Unfortunately once the group booking hordes arrived it was all destroyed by their loud, drinking unruly behavior. It felt more like a Club Med for 50+. I guess I didn't know that all-inclusive meant that I drink in hand was required from dusk to dawn. I was devastated, at this style of luxury resort I would never have guessed. I am so sad that I just cant go back.

The beach is a disaster
The grand class pool (adult sector) is the worst. They have installed a mafia that operates in full view and no one wants to take over
With great kindness after all our complaints we were told that they were aware of the problem and that management was looking for a solution…
14 days we were there… during each and every one of these, we arrived at 7 am and the lounge chairs were reserved with books, slippers, whatever… were over 12 and no one occupied them and those defending the reserve were the same staff of the pools
We decided to arrive before 7 am, because if the administration was not able to solve then maybe an extra effort would help us… Either… Before 7 am there were already the same restrooms always (3/4 parts are available) already reserved.

Grand Velas was everything that we heard it was, and yet so much more. Our personal concierge, Paulina was amazing. She was always near in case we needed her and and "made that need" happen. The pool concierges were equally amazing. Julia and Gabrielle always were on hand to ensure that we were well hydrated and fed throughout the day. The food. The food was amazing. I don't think that we could have had as many consistently delicious meals on any other vacation. Always sit down dinners with fantastic bottles of wine. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, one of our family members had a food allergy which could always make a trip abroad uneasy. Amy, the guest service manager, together with Paulina, ALWAYS made sure that he was able to eat food from the same restaurant and made us feel 100% SECURE that it was cooked in a safe environment. The Grand Velas team has made it very hard for us to consider going anywhere else besides there in the future.

Very good quality of services and attention. A little small the extension of the beach. They built very close to the water. They could have respected the vegetation more like Mayakoba. It shaves the beach wall a lot. The interior gardens and décor is very nice.

My wife and I visited Grand Velas Riviera Maya for our honeymoon and couldn't of been more blown away. From the relaxing atmosphere to the unbelievable service, we could not of had a better time. We stayed at the Zen suites and you truly feel like you're secluded on the property. The beaches have the softest sand I've every felt and the staff on the beach was top notch as well. My wife and I signed up for a couples message experience at the spa and it was tremendous. It was truly relaxing and therapeutic. Finally, if you like food then this is the place for you. The restaurants are some of the best food I've ever had and there's 8 of them, so you have plenty of options. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing getaway with all the amenities you can imagine, then visit Grand Velas Riviera Maya. I promise you won't be disappointed.

What can I say! Five star service and attention. Food was extremely fancy but not always great. Seven nights wasn't enough! Large resort with lots of activities. Room was beautiful and was kept clean. Sadly the spa was not included in the price and was way to expensive for the average vacationers! Overall it was a once in a lifetime experience. One last comment, the scuba diving wasn't the best due to the clarity of the water. But we were treated like royalty!

We had the perfect honeymoon here! The service was unreal and the place was a dream, incredible food and amazing resort! We never left the resort, because we were so relaxed and didn't want to leave an afternoon at the pool or beach!

Loved our experience at Grand Velas! We stayed at Zen and loved the beautiful rooms, tall ceilings and calm, peaceful atmosphere of the rooms surrounded by jungle. The shuttles were available all of the time and got us conveniently to and from the beach in a matter of minutes any time we wanted. All of the grounds were immaculate, service was wonderful and the food was great everywhere we went. We will be back to this fabulous resort!

All I can say — spectacular! It's like coming to paradise. The best service I had from any of the resorts I've been to, and I've been to many. All inclusive resort with very good restaurants. Especially Azure for buffet breakfast and Bistro for both lunch and dinner. Dinner at Piaf is a must: spectacular food and very good extensive wine list. Sommelier knows his business, as does the chef.

This resort is beautiful and perfectly maintained. The Ambassador pool is amazing and enormous. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained. The service was perfect. The staff were somehow able to know what I wanted before I even knew it myself. Service was seamless and I don't think I ever heard the word "No" during my stay. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I just came back from the Grand Velas Riviera Maya with my family and have to say it was an incredible experience. The thing that stands out the most was the service. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly customer service driven. For example, if you ask someone where to go, they wont tell you, they will walk you there. They helped book and arrange transportation. Always greeted you with a smile. No is not a word in their vocabulary. Rodolfo was our concierge for the room and he was always available to answer questions and point us in the right direction. My kids actually enjoyed the kids club and didn't want to leave. I kept them in the small kids club which had a small soccer field, three tv's with game consoles, and multiple staff members to do activities with them. At first, I thought that it would not be enough to entertain my 8 and 10 year old but I give most of the credit to a caring and fun worker named Karla. All I had to ask is if they wanted to see Karla and they would say yes. Thank you for all your help. The pool was tremendous and beautiful and never full and the staff around the area like Armando would never let you go too long before returning asking to get you another drink. The food is abundant and is very good. Azul and Chaka buffet have so much variety to offer and the gourmet restaurants of my choosing were Lucca, Piaf, and Sei Lin. If you are considering an All inclusive and want amazing service, food, and an experience, this is the place.

My husband and I have been to Grand Velas three times and we have always enjoyed our stay there. The restaurants are second to none compared to two other high end resorts we have stayed at in Riviera Maya. The entire staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The shuttle service is very efficient. We have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to travel between the two areas of the resort. We like to stay in the Zen area where it is very peaceful and private. The short shuttle to the beach is not an issue. The beach is gorgeous. We will definitely be back.

Grand Velas is a true relaxing vacation! I love this destination for its beauty, amazing service, outstanding spa, delicious food, and its beautiful beach! If you are looking for a relaxing and spoiling vacation like no other then this is the resort for you! The spa is superior! The water therapy at the spa is such a treat and comes along with your spa treatment for the day. The zen pool is around the corner to complete your peaceful day. The zen pool is so relaxing and quite with a swim up bar and tasty lunches. Highly recommend this resort for a relaxing and superior vacation! I have recommended this resort to many friends that come back thanking me for recommending Grand Velas! I am returning in March!

The rooms are great and toiletries are fancy. Restaurant food is good enough for all inclusive. Nothing special. Support staff is useless. It is almost impossible to find concierge here. There is no evening entertainment. The most disappointing thing that was not obvious during booking was that the zen hotel is 5 min drive away from the beach and you have to completely rely on a shuttle to get between sites. I have been to Paradisus last year that was cheaper, had great support staff, food and entertainment. Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

“Little bit not 5 stars yet” A very good resort but it depends on what you compare it to. Minuses to list: 1) Zen's building construction with internal garden has no natural air circulation. As a result, many heavy rains and a relatively high humidity create a good conditions for wold growth. It smell as soon as you open a door to any room. 5 stars resort MUST remove mold in HVAC system. Filters replacement is not enough. I saw your filter… They are cheap washable filters which good for motel, not for ***** resort. I was suffering from allergy while was staying in your resort. Unacceptable condition for sure! Same applies to ground floors of Ambassador and Grand Class rooms. 2) Chukka, Lucca and Bistro restaurants far away from 5 star resort requirements. Poor menu and average quality of food. Sen Lin and Piaf are superb! One buffet style restaurant (Azul) is not enough for Zen, Ambassador and Grand class areas. Practically no international food. You ignore ignoring tastes of your European guests. Would be great to have days of national food in Azul. For example, French, Italians, Russian, Greek, etc. 3) No entertainment exclude Piano bar and sport bar. Invite professional artists to make theatrical or music shows. Build the stage. You are next to Cancun! 4) Create covered walking paths between Zen and other locations. A lot of people like to walk. It is funny when you walk from Zen to Ambassador with a security guard driving behind you!

Excellent in every sense of the word! Good food, attentive service, etc, The only thing I did not like was the beach, it is not the best.

The experience was more spectacular in my life, getting to this place in between a sense of jungle, beach and I must say that even better was the very friendly and the cuisine is the best in the world, all the dishes are delicious. Congratulations to all the staff, both administrative and operational (for as excellent facilities, everything here is beautiful, each and every one of the spacious, comfortable facilities, the area of forest, gardens are unsurpassed.
