I booked my holiday through a travel agent and didn't really check out the hotel ratings till later. I paid a little over 500 pounds and stayed between 9th November and 23rd November 2017 in room 216. As a single traveller I had decided I didn't want a balcony room because I would be out sightseeing most of the day. This was my first overseas holiday since 1998, out of choice by the way, and my first and only holiday this year. I never expected the windows in my room would overlook the kitchen, and if I opened them the room would stink. Because the room is located on the inside of the hotel in a sort of quadrangle there is very little light, and definitely no view of the sky. To check out the weather I wod go to reception and look out the door. The toilet seat rocked, literally, and was hard to flush. I figured I was in a third world country. The room's walls were stained and in need of redecoration. To take the photographs of my room, or read a book every light had to be on. The cover on my bed was stained with urine. People piss the bed but I don't and don't really want to view other people's mishaps. The mattress itself was clean. You have to pay to rent a kettle and the remote for the tv, and for Wi-Fi. Nearly forgot, you pay for the combination safe in your room seperatley too. If you want an upgrade from this room of no light you pay another E11 a night. I can't promise the room. Will be better but if you get an "outside" room you will have a view and a lot more light. It won't improve the food. Maybe the cook will improve, and the practise of serving up last nights left overs will end but I won't hold my breath, nor will I think your cooked breakfast will be watm at least. The cornflakes are fine, not kellogs but it's food. Bread, marg and jam and marmalade won't hurt you, as is the coffee if you put a lot of sugar in it. The bar is the coffee bsr outside, with ten per cent off for residents. The bar as seen on the website doesn't exist, nor does the library. You get your deposit back if you rent a TV remoteooking at the television in the lounge area I saw the picture constantly freezing. Could be bad reception, I don't know. The pool on the roof exists, as does the roof terrace. My photo's show you the true picture. I contacted the travel agency on my return home because the girl who sold me the holiday told me to do it that way. When I returned home and asked if they could stop sending people to the dark airless viewless box that is room 216 they would look into it. A few days ago, just before christmas I got the email telling me I ought to have asked for a change of room or asked for the hotel voucher back so I could be assigned another hotel. Fair comment but with the best of intentions I didn't want any compensation, just hoping the next poor victim didnt get assigned room 216. The travel agency found in favour of the hotel. We all do reviews, and read them because we believe. I wish you a great holiday and safe skies and hope you believe me. Best wishes all. I like to think the people who write on here represent the side of goodness and civilisation. The hotel is advertising a "free breakfast". I stayed on a b&b basis, not room only with free breakfast.
