Some Place Else is a fantastic base in Georgetown, with a prime location near great cafes and stunning colonial architecture. The facilities are excellent; spacious cafe, quiet co-working space, and a rooftop terrace perfect for socialising. The balance between productivity and a relaxed atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for.
The staff were friendly, organizing casual social events without it feeling like a party hostel. The only downside was the bathroom cleanliness — sinks and floors sometimes had hair, and old toiletries were never cleared out.
Still, it’s a great spot for solo travellers, especially if you’re new to hostels. Would definitely stay again!

Disappointing and I wouldn't go back, now I'll explain the pros and cons. It's a good hostel overall, modern and youthful with a relaxed atmosphere. Most of the staff are friendly volunteers and all speak good English. There are several drinking water dispensers, a coworking area with work chairs, the beds are comfortable and the hostel is clean. There is also a roof terrace and a well-equipped kitchen for cooking.
Unfortunately the experience was ruined by a persistent and strong unpleasant smell inside the large dormitory. During my stay I never saw the windows open to change the smelly air. At first you don't notice it, but every time you enter the smell is nauseating. They turn off the lights at 11pm, so if you go to sleep early the situation is not optimal. At night however it is very quiet, until late in the morning.

The hostel was just okay overall. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm, and there were both positives and negatives to my experience.
On the positive side, the ground area and coworking spaces had a nice design, and the hostel offered various activities that were well-organized by the staff. The location was very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and stores just a short walk away. Additionally, the facilities were well-maintained, and the laundry service was efficient.
However, there were some downsides. The cleanliness was lacking, as I often noticed hair on the floors and a generally sloppy cleaning job. Old, abandoned items like toothpaste packaging and shower gel were left in the bathroom area, which gave an unkempt impression. The dorm room also had a strange smell, and it seemed no one bothered to open the window shades to freshen the air.
While it had its good aspects, the lack of proper cleanliness detracted from the overall experience.
