We are writing to make a complaint and request a full refund from Nosy Be Hotel and Spa. We booked 4 nights at Nosy Be Hotel and Spa to stay for our honeymoon and over Christmas from 23-27th December. However upon arrival we were incredibly disappointed. The hotel was way far below the standards we expected when we originally booked it via booking. Com. Upon arrival we were made to pay up front before we saw our room and walked around the rest of the hotel. It was far from the photos and description the hotel used to market itself. As a result, immediately after this, we did not use the room or any of the hotel facilities and we asked for a full refund before we left. We had explained in detail the reasons why we were not satisfied with the hotel to the staff, however they told us they we unable to offer us a refund for the four nights as the decision ‘was out of their hands’ and it was for Booking. Com to process the refund. Following this and to our extra expense we then had to organise additional transport and leave the hotel to stay somewhere else (of a quality we had expected Nosy Be Hotel and Spa to be). Issues we experienced with the hotel: Up front payment — We were told to pay the full amount as soon as we arrived before we had seen our room or any of the hotel. Had we seen the rooms and the rest of hotel beforehand, we would have refused to pay and immediately complained. Loud construction work on drains by rooms and the pool area — There were open drains and construction work taken place in front of our room and near the pool. In addition to this there was a lot of construction noise, such as very loud and continuous hammering and grinding. The room was also incredibly small and the corridor to get to the room we pitch black. More construction work — On the entrance side of our room near the reception there was more construction work taking place. This was for another whole building, the works and scaffolding had a highly negative visual impact on the resort. We were not informed of any this beforehand. Beach — The beach was dirty and unkept. The main selling point of the hotel was its proximity and relationship to the beach and sea. There was a vast amount of litter including garbage bags, bottles, food waste, plastics and packaging on the beach in front of and around the hotel. Immediate surroundings — the surroundings and neighbouring buildings, corrugated fencing and drainage run off was considerably worse as eel as very different from the photos and description of the hotel on booking. Com Sadly this experience has negatively tinted our honeymoon and we feel the quality of the hotel at the time we visited as far below par. In addition, given that we did not use the room or any of the facilities we would like to request this full refund ASAP.
