Amazing Stay with Hemingways in Nairobi! We actually had not planned our stay here at first, but we had an extended layout in Nairobi so we decided to come here to spend some time. We were very impressed and so glad we did! Rooms was beautiful, clean, and spacious. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all of our logistics. We only had breakfast but it was very good and fresh. The property is beautiful, featuring gardens, a pool, and plenty of trees for birds to constantly come onto the property. We also did a small spa treatment and really enjoyed that as well. All in all, we will be staying at more Hemingways properties in the future!

Outstanding Experience at Hotel Hemingway for lunch.
Our waiter, Derrick was exceptional — enthusiastic, welcoming, and highly engaging. He made us feel genuinely valued and extremely grateful for the warm hospitality and attention to detail throughout. His passion and professionalism really elevated the whole experience.
The venue, service, and overall atmosphere were excellent, with everything running smoothly and efficiently. We felt very appreciative of the care and effort put into every aspect of our visit, and we would not hesitate to return in the future.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a high-quality experience with exceptional service.

Went for a family lunch and was amazed by the quality of service provided. We were met by cheerful and interactive staff who made our time there blissful. The food was delicious and finger licking to say the least. The nature all around felt like a warm hug. Special recognition to our waiter, Mr Gibson, who was a special delight.

A very good evening to you, I am soo excited to have had my graduation dinner at your hotel. The services are soo wonderful, the food was verrryy delicious and filling and the table arragement was so decent and neat.
I had a lovely experience and felt the warmth of Christmas due to the Christmas decor. The environment is also calm.

I have stayed at Hemingways annually for 7 years. The service just gets better and the rooms continue to be exceptional. This time I arrived direct from 9 days in the bush and it truly felt like coming home. The epitome of luxury and I will be coming back for years and years to come.

A gorgeous property! From the gardens to the rooms to the main building, everything about this hotel is beautiful. The service is top notch and the people couldn’t be any kinder or more attentive. We truly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning.

@Coca-Cola event… The technician did a great job with the livestream. Everything looked and sounded clear. The food and service were also very good. The team was friendly, organized, and made the whole event run smoothly. A well-done and enjoyable experience overall.

This is a simply lovely property. The rooms are quite large, spacious and extremely comfortable. The bathroom is huge and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable and afforded a good night sleep. The breakfast buffet is exceptional with many tasty treats to enjoy. For me, what makes a hotel exceptional is the staff, and Hemingway's does not disappoint. The reception staff, restaurant workers, housekeeping staff, gardening staff, personal butlers, and cart drivers were all warm, welcoming, courteous and eager to assist with any need. Management should be proud of the entire staff.

I Highly recommend Hemingways in Karen! The service is top-notch and the food is absolutely delicious. Ample parking is a bonus! We stayed at Hemingways Nairobi for two nights — 5th & 6th October — as a restful end to a week-long safari and to celebrate my mum’s 70th birthday.
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning location, buildings, furniture and decor. It screams luxury. The rooms are just incredible — beautiful and cosy/welcoming.
The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5, is because of a very bad experience in the restaurant on the first night — we had to ask to get some drinks, the main course took about 45-60 mins to arrive (even though I had stressed that I am diabetic), and when the food did arrive, it was cold and incorrect for one of our party. We spoke to management, who took our feedback very seriously and they apologised profusely (even offered us free dessert). Our waiter, John (I think his name was), also apologised and looked genuinely distraught about our feedback. I really have to stress, John was fantastic and none of our complaints were his fault in the slightest. John was wonderful and we have nothing but praise for him.
Since providing this feedback, the restaurant staff made a huge effort to make up for yesterday, apologising again. We’ve just come back from our second dinner, which was the total opposite and was perfection. Food arrived promptly (especially for me as a diabetic), was delicious and the service exemplary — our waiter Newton was absolutely fantastic.

My wife and I stayed here for a total of four nights — two before our safaris and two after. It's a beautiful property with lovely views from all of the rooms. We stayed in the Stanley Suite first, then the Meryl Streep Suite at the end of our trip. Both rooms were the same. Very nice four-poster bed, dual sinks, walk-in closet, a safe and a spacious balcony. Except for one lunch while out on a tour, we ate all of our meals here. The food was very good: burgers and crocodile burgers for lunch, lasagna, prawns and Indian food for dinner. The service was great and we had some excellent servers. They are locals but have all adopted western-style names so that we can pronounce them. Kind of a shame they have to do this. But our favorite server, Eunice, told us her given name and we had no chance to pronounce it. James, Abagael and everyone there was fantastic — warm, personable and eager to provide great service. On our last day there, we had an 11:30pm flight out of Nairobi, so we bought a day pass and were able to stay in our room until 7pm. Then we had dinner and off to the airport. We highly recommend this hotel!

Your hotel is stunning. The entrance, lobby, restaurant and surroundings are spectacular. I began my Kenya and Tanzania Safari at your hotel and spent an extra night with you to complete my magical journey. Your staff is top notch. Jones was a wonderful porter and somehow knew I was familiar with my room, so he simply delivered my luggage to the closet. I was dining alone and my server, Abigael, was most professional yet very kind and friendly. She made me feel most welcome, comfortable, and was extremely attentive to my dining experience. Jackie, the restaurant manager followed up to make my dining experience was impeccable. Mildred was most helpful and kind in making sure I was checked out in a timely manner, my luggage was in the proper place and attended to my cash request. You have a world class hotel, and I will return.

I express my gratitude for exemptional service you provided during our visit. All the staffs were amazing. Eunice, our waitress was very knowledgeable and professional. She went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met. We had a nice experience. We enjoyed the ambiance. We are definitely coming back.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautifully prepared food. The drinks were amazing the food too it was tasty and flavorful, and the pasta was a standout. A bit pricey, but worth it for a special night out. Highly recommend!

The hotel was a wonderful experience. The facilities were magnificent. Rooms were spacious, and the grounds were kept immaculately. The staff was extremely well trained, and we couldn’t have asked for a more delightful experience. Although, It was only two nights we would definitely come back. Abigale was a trainee in the dimming room.
And was incredibly kind and efficient. I hope that she will be hired full-time when she finishes her training. It would be a true plus to the Hemmingways.

We have just had three nights at this beautiful hotel after three weeks of game drives in Kenya and Tanzania. It has been the perfect choice to rest and recuperate after a busy time on tour.
The rooms are stunning and very comfortable the staff are extremely helpful and food very good. The spa treatments by Elsie and Belta were divine. Antony was very professional at checking us into the room and our butler Paul was very helpful throughout our stay.
The laundry service and the cleaning of our hiking shoes were both very good too.
Special mention to chefs Wendy and Brian. Also Loice and Nathaniel who are interns and did an excellent job. The bar staff were all great — especially Eunice and Phelley. Newton, Brian and Dan looked after us very well at the restaurants.

As someone who values both great service and an inclusive atmosphere, I’m honestly disappointed by my experience at Hemingways Nairobi.
From the moment we arrived, we felt the quiet sting of being less welcome. We had just stepped out of our car, ready to enjoy dinner and stay the night, when the front desk staff asked us to “scoot aside” so they could welcome the other guests arriving behind us — who just so happened to be white. The message was loud: some guests matter more than others.
While the property itself is undeniably beautiful. The management and hospitality left a bitter taste. No one should pay for a 5-star experience and be made to feel invisible. That’s not luxury. That’s poor service with colonial undertones.
I truly wanted to love Hemingways. But based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values equal treatment, respect, and real hospitality — especially Black or local guests.
Do better.
