This is a true gem of a hotel. Good construction with great soundproofing, solid and nice furniture, and a great layout. My room was spotless and the housecleaning did a great job with nice touches and amenities.
The team was very kind and responsive in all interactions. And the breakfast was a magnificent spread with both western and local food options — the chicken yoghurt soup was quite good!
Finally, the location beats other alternatives as traffic is bad in Almaty and some of the other high-end hotels are outside the center, which can pose issues.
I've stayed in Intercontinental properties in several countries, and this is definitely one of the best. Highly recommended for business and luxury travelers.

Great location, bad service, mediocre shabby rooms, and a decent breakfast. I usually stay at the Ritz Carlton in Almaty, which is a fantastic hotel with some of the best staff and service I've ever enjoyed. However, the Ritz is in a terrible location and its structure — 30th floor lobby with rooms you have to take a separate elevator to get back down to on lower floors — feels like a prison. The Intercontinental is super well located by comparison, and is a normal hotel layout. It's also much, much quieter (no screaming traffic below). But the staff and service here, at the International, is consistently not good. No one helps with bags, or even holds the door open for you while you struggle to get your bags out the door yourself. No service at breakfast. No welcome for super elite status guests, nor upgrades. It was simply a very disappointing experience.

I had a wonderful stay at InterContinental Almaty. The Club Lounge was amazing, cozy atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Special thanks to Aizere for her warm attitude and professionalism. She truly made my experience unforgettable!

By far the best InterContinental I have visited, as far as the level of service is concerned.
I've regularly stayed at the defunct InterContinental Frankfurt and the ones in London Park Lane, Madrid, Singapore Bugis, Makkah, Madinah, Melbourne, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chicago. They are all exceptional, but what differentiates a great hotel from an excellent one is the staff.
Right from my arrival, to the kind gentleman, Artur (excellent hospitality. ) at Check In, the level of care is unparalleled.
5/5 anyday. To those who complain about the interior, let me say that the way they've maintained it is a a skill in itself.
There's a reason Real Madrid chose to stay here.

The hotel is showing its age a little, but the service remains truly outstanding. Staff were courteous, attentive, and professional throughout my stay. Everything from cleanliness to the lounge service was excellent. Internet could be faster, but overall, it's one of the best InterContinental experiences I've had. Highly recommended.

Intercontinental Almaty never fails to offer five star services. Hotel staff starting from front desk, housekeeping, room service, and restaurant are always very attentive, friendly, and professional. This is the only hotel I’d stay in Almaty!

Went here for a business trip and fell in love with it. The staff is caring and helpful, the food is delicious, the location of the hotel is convenient and close to local attractions. Looking forward to come here again.

The Intercontinental has been one of the leading hotels in Almaty for over 20 years.
But, slowly but surely, the hotel is getting tired with everything looking more and more antiquated.
So why then still the 4-star rating: the hotel is conveniently located, its staff and management very friendly and service oriented and the rooms are clean.
But: with new competition looming (a new Hilton, a renovated Hotel Kazakhstan with IHG standards), the necessary of a thorough makeover is clearly there.

A great hotel. Your home away from home.
Location: Awesome.
Service: Perfect. You can just download your stuff onto a receptionist and say you want this clean or leave your bag for a couple of days if you are travelling around the country.
Rooms: Quite good. Not brand new, but definitely not shabby.
Other: Great breakfast. Panoramic elevators.

It is always a great experience when here but I must give a warning. They have a VERY different view of "heated pool" than I do. The pool is quite cold and is pretty far from being heated.

I would like to extend special thanks to guest relations personnel Miss Bota. She is extremely professional, anticipates customers’ needs and assists in everything. Also receptionist Mr. Arthur Ibragimov, who is good listener and provides an appropriate assistance.

Attended an event mid Feb 2025 in a cold weather, lively and cool conference rooms, great food and dining hall and easily accessible amenities around the hotel. Several events happening at the same time, the lobby is most of the time crowded.

This is an excellent and top-tier hotel for Almaty. I have stayed here many times and will continue to do so in the future. Staff is friendly and helpful. The lounge, available to IGH award members is great. I have no negative comments.

Excellent service! Staff make it perfect!
Room size for 3 tight but comfortable. Don’t like bath tub / shower combination.
Food (in room dining) not great. Fried rice was strange.
Overall excellent!
