Good location, clean rooms, friendly staff and Guovane.

Very nice and helpful staff. The Guest House is very well located: only 5 min walking from Kyoto station. You can visit lots of places just by walking such as Nijo castle… the rooms are comfortable and cosy. The common space (kitchen, bathroom) are very clean. I highly recommend this place for your visit in Kyoto!

The attention is very helpful and the atmosphere is quite traditional, as downside is the cold it makes in the local.

The staff were wonderful and there are no complaints about the quality of the rooms. They were nice and spacious, as well as comfortable to rest in. However, visiting in winter was somewhat of a painful experience due to the lack of heating in the halls and bathroom. It made it very uncomfortable to shower or bathe in general. Furthermore, cooking or going to the bathroom was very cold due to no heating in the halls. I would recommend this hostel for autumn or spring weather only due to these reasons.

Very nice place and well placed at the station level. However, the common rooms are quite small. The room by cons its big enough with enough room to tidy up his belongings.

I got a bed in a four man room for very cheap (1700yen) the night, however I did not like it that much. The overall experience was bad. Staff said from 9 it should be quiet until 7 in the morning for the convenience of other customers — from five in the morning onwards there were people running around the floors without any regard for others. Furthermore were the rooms not really sanitary — I am not sure if they actually clean them that often since there was dust everywhere. The common room was also a mess. Staff: seemed to be nice — good explanation of of the house and rules, where to find what and how to make your bed, etc. The location however was pretty nice — close to the station, probably not a different reasonable guesthouse gives the same. All in all I have to say except the closeness to the station that this is most likely one of the worst accommodations that I had in Japan.

Its really cold on winter. No heater inside the guest house. Only on common room. But the staff is really helpful.

Cheap hostel a 5 minute walk to Kyoto Station. Spacious beds and nice staff.

Good price and location. The rooms were a little dirty and you can hear everything through the walls and floors.

Dorm of 4 (two bunk beds). — Only a small relaxation room, much too small! — Rooms quite small with aircon and heating,

— pay for parking near the hostel. It can get pricey… 150 yen / hour during the day and 100 yen / hour at night. High price for a youth hostel, but you will find not less expensive to Kyoto!

(Australian reviewer) A small and slightly out of the way hsotel, it serves it's purpose well with all facilities you would expect from a budget inn-style accommodation. Staff are very friendly and very willing to assist guests.

It's small and cheap. The kitchen has some things in. They are really helpful with late check-ins, but its easy to find from Kyoto station. The staff does their best to help you in every way possible.

I've spend here three nights and it's okay. Most of the rooms don't have any windows, only air condition, so be prepared for that (I was in a room with window, but it directly faced some yellowish glas fibre ripple). The staff is friendly and helpful but overall there isn't much of a community or "hostel vibe" going on. It's loud. You will hear people walking in the hallway, talking in they room, or brushing their teeth loudly, because the walls are very thin.

Tomato hostel was great. The staff helped me stow my luggage early in the day and I got checked in during their normal check-in hours easy. Bunk beds were a little padding on plywood, but not the worst thing ever.

Hotel OK. Room mates snore: P.
