Simple room, clean, location is perfect, no english speaking staff

Good welcome but room very dark and very damp

Quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was very excited to go here, but they cancelled on me on the day of and when I called to ask why this was, the man on the phone was extremely abrasive and would not give me a straight answer. He hung up on me three different times and left my friend and me with no place to stay when we were already on the train on the way. LUCKILY the hotel next door, hotel Luciano was wonderful and when we called he was very quick to offer us a room and even let us check in later than the allotted time with very direct and specific instructions. Give Luciano hotel your business instead of Dalla Compagna. They deserve more recognition and they are so wonderful and kind. That’s my best advice!

Basic typical accommodation, clean bed and that's what I'm comfortable with. Bring your own shampoo & conditioner. Expect some steep road to get there.

Truly a one-star hotel with zero-star service. Staff was rude, loud, and spoke very poor English. We could hear the desk clerk yelling at other guests in Italian from our room down the hall as well as the bell in the town ringing every hour. We booked one night then emailed them again to ask if we could book one more night (a few months in advance). They said yes and we printed out the email as proof. Only a few DAYS before our trip, they sent us another email saying that "there was an error" and we could not stay 2 nights. Unfortunately we didn't see the email because we were traveling that day and when we tried to check in, they only had one room available for us. So for the second night we had to change rooms and my husband had to sleep on the floor because the new room was a single bed. I was tired and exhausted from getting to this city and started to cry at the desk because the staff was so rude. No empathy and the staff member got mad at me for crying and asked WHY I was crying, treating me like I was an idiot for not understanding his "English. " I would never, ever recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice room but without a window and therefore quite dark. Overall an ok experience.

Simple clean room, very basic! Good for one night… Only coffee for breakfast!

The studio apartment is in a perfect location. It's spacious, newly decorated, with comfy bed, kitchen area and everything you need. Wifi doesn't work though. All in all great for the price!

I don't know if this hotel has other rooms or other locations, I can only speak for how I experienced it here and now. I've got the room beside the reception, it has a strong smell of underground basement and the air is kind of moist. The reception speaks English well, that's good, but at the same time all of the workers in Rio Maggiore are well spoken. At the bottom line, I would not stay here again. I would rather avoid it.

Great location, friendly and helpful owner, great location but room not really clean and a little dark and noisy …

It's an apartment rental, and at least in the off season it was cheaper than any hotel we saw. Nice kitchen with most of the table settings and cooking utensils we needed. There was hand soap (and towels), but no shampoo. Radiant heat floors were quite a nice surprise. The village was far better than the more resort-like towns to the north, and our flat was right in the center, across the street from several bars, restaurants, a co-op grocery, and laundry.

Ease to find: We took the long way and realized later that the train station exits to an up hill street, but you need to turn right and go through a pedestrian tunnel to the main up hill street Colombo. We picked the wrong one and it was a long hike and search with luggage. Pick the one that comes out to Via Colombo. It is also the street that if you go down some stairs you will go to the marina. Go up this street and the check-in office is to the right of the church. Check-in process: Check in was simple and quick Room size and comfort: We had one of the apartments Which had a nice sized bedroom with a desk, two wardrobes, and a chest of drawers. Up stairs was a kitchen / living room area and a nice sized balcony. Bathroom size and comfort: The bathroom was an OK size, but the shower was too small. Also there was no hot water after the first day, but we made it work. After all this place is right on the coast and was not expensive. Breakfast: No breakfast for apartment rentals. Staff: The staff is not 24-hour coverage, but this was not needed since our apartment entrance was not through the office. We also did not have much interaction with the staff except to ask for clean towels. The staff was helpful in the few interactions we had. Location: Close to the sea on the main road, but not close enough to hear the waves or boats. The balcony has a great view. Cost: We stayed in late September for about 85 Euro a night.
